That’s because I don’t understand what you are complaining about. Your initial post it was the lore, but that was corrected. Then it was a lack of warning but as I linked you had one. Now it’s because no one knows what it is in character? Well it’s new so that makes sense. It looks like you are just looking for a reason to dislike it or at very least complain.

Do we need RP context every time a map is updated and given a higher quality design? Every time areas are taken out for server space? Every time an NPC changes position? How about the lighthouse and boat near Candlekeep, which completely changed position to be north of CK instead of south of it because the map they used to be on was removed? Did the cosmic forces shift their location? Or, instead, maybe you're just expected to treat it as if it's always been there for the sake of the fact that this is a *game* and has never, and will never, be able to fully and accurately represent the region. Yes, it's a bit jarring, but some amount of mental handwaving is required, here.

BG's gates have, ICly, always had tax collectors. ICly, people have always been taxed. OOCly, there was nothing in-game to represent those. Now there is. That's it. That's all it is.

First of all, there was no implication that the original "tower" was a "tax office." Are we retconning the tower as if it was always a tax office?

Upgrading the tower to a "higher quality design" is different from adding a tax officer to an area where none was previously present.

Secondly, when correcting the lore you didn't have to come across like a jerk, low key calling us dumb.

If the staff is seriously this unwilling to explain the purpose of the building to give us RP background, fine, but this is ridiculous.

1. I was asking for lore of the building because of "We don't know how to RP it!"

And, yes, I am sorry I missed a tiny side sentence in a coming soon post, my apologies on that. However, even the DM's didn't know about it, so clearly there's still some communication issues here.

Insinuating that a player seeking to give feedback about an important RP area is "just looking to complain" is truly distasteful behavior of a staff member.

I'm just done giving feedback to the staff on the forums, you've just proven you're not capable of handling it in a mature way.

There's no need for veiled insults and poor excuses for not giving clear communication and direction for the intended setting and rp implications of an area design change.

There’s no veiled insults. I am trying to be as direct as possible. As I said in my earlier post I won’t be making devs jump through hoops for small changes. I would like my team to avoid burn out and be able to express their creativity through the mod.

I could be super polite say I will further consider the issue. Then let it die out like most posts. But I would rather be direct and tell you why. Now if you’re not complaining for complaining sake then I apologies, that is how you came across however jumping from one argument to another.

Lore wise a new building was built in the farmlands for the tax collector. That’s all there is really until DMs or the lore team make more for it.

Devs I think the new farmlands looks great and I pay my taxes all the time, on time.

I'm going to have to agree with Ewe on this one. Yes it's a nice aesthetic addition to the Eastern Farmlands but some context would help just to facilitate RP. It could just involve making it possible to interact with the NPC in front of building to get more information about it and it's purpose rather than leaving PCs having to presume it's purpose.

The purpose is clear, they are there to collect taxes.

I don't think I "jumped around." My original post's sentence,
I'm really confused. There's no DM, no staff, no announcement, nothing, but we have a new taxation system and tax building in the Farmlands?
Contained my confusion on the lore, that there was no announcement, DM lore established, etc. like all the points were there, they were just not addressed at the same time by you all for some reason.

Look, I want everyone to get along here. But I feel like Rhifox was being very snippy. Saying "really?" and making it sound like we're dumb for asking. And there was no need at all to say "seeking complaining" or whatever.


Ideally, the DM's and "lore team" would have known this was going in and would have some kind of lore for us for the building's debut, but as it is they didn't even know about it.
