What did you do to us poor fighter builds ?

Clickable items like 'boots of speed' and 'cloak of displacement' are worthless now - as they are getting dispeled everywhere. :(
Expansive wands are a waste of coin.

Allmost every caster monster spams a dispel of sorts.
Please make these spells much more rarer on monsters, like giving it only to 5~10% of the casters.

We will need to play without those items. They are pretty much useless now.

I know. I dont play meleers any more. It only adds to the frustation. To avoid that, i started focusing on casters. Looking at the other players' main characters and the type of characters players roll, I am not the only one either.

We will be keeping this under review as its not a goal to exterminate melee classes!

Its very likely dispels will be looked at in frequency and power

I was rather surprised to see that two dispels from a wizard skeleton in the Fields of the Dead stripped 80% of my buffs from my paladin - likely due to a low caster level. With that said, however, I am entirely for the end of magical power creep and the whole "having nineteen different clickable items to do everything" is one of the most stupid aspects of any server.

So keep it. Just feel free to rebalance casters in the process.

Can we just adjust the loot system so affording all that magic that gets dispelled can be afforded? Not to mention this doesn't just affect the 3 dip rogue fighters...this affects full rogues too. So we literally are discouraging any melee fighter of any type. Or maybe I am wrong and the amount of dispels is just stupid........I do not even want to see what happens to people in the Yuan-ti temple or the VOD...........Poor poor fighter heroes....

Yes. My already very powerful wizard has been rebalanced to "Godmode Enabled".

Meanwhile, you're getting dispelled by little kids with toy wands.

Sounds legit.

I beg to differ! You get dispelled more you use more scrolls! Scrolls cost gold. Gold is gathered from loot and monsters. However I did say I could be wrong!!! Anyway fighters have been getting the shaft for some time. There is a reason Kory went from being a fighter/wm build to Arcane Gish to Favored......I do agree fighters need some love somehow some way!

I think loot system needs to be a different conversation (though I can see the correlation here).

The issue with dispels was brought up countless times in relation to UMD users, Blackguards, assassins and other 'dip' caster builds. It really is a tough conversation because on the one hand a dip caster or some rogue waving a wand about really shouldn't be as good a caster as a dedicated cleric/wizard. On the other hand the original server was built and balanced on pretty much every character having UMD and/or use per day items.
It will need to be discussed further and any new ideas from the community are welcome, thus far we have discussed possibilities such as lowering dispels to stock NWN2 power (i.e. lowering the level bonus caps) as well as reducing the number of mobs with dispels. I'd be interested to hear other ideas as I believe this is probably the single biggest impact change to the server in this update and believe it should be a top priority to re-balance in the coming weeks/months to better support those classes that essentially can no longer go to certain areas they previously frequented.

So...what you're saying is:

two specific playstyles ( high AB/low CL melee buffbot & intensive UMD user) are being discouraged, so the solution is to give more gold to people in order to cope with the changes, and just keep going exactly that way.

It's either wrong to change (and then it should be reverted), or right to change (and then things should stay as is). Otherwise, it makes no sense, no?

In my opinion you aproach this incrrectly. You see making fighters better by using magic. I say make fighter better by making what they do more efficient.

Which just means the work isn't finished yet. Your wizard will always be quadratic until you actually have a penalty for having buffs up. Which, incidentally, I will continue to lobby for.

This was -never- a clever way to balance a server and any step away from it is a good thing. I don't think the people who support this realize just how badly damaging this is to people who don't play the loot market, who don't have a million gold on hand or who, gods forbid, actually play a character who gets stronger through adventure and experience rather than playing loot trader.
