Postimage, image service gone

Does anyone also have pictures posted through Postimage? Cause since a couple of days about 80% of my pictures have gone missing. I went to look for the cause, see if the server was down, and I found this :
http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/postimage.org.html

Where this is the most disturbing :
I emailed postimage support last night & got a response straight away. Sadly the original site is gone forever. All user images are now stored at the new web address so at least picss are accessible but users will have to replace from new address or use the code to make visible any images used previously on their websites, forums etc. PITA but at least it’s not a low act like photobucket pulled! What you get for using a free web hosting site I guess.
There is no way I can guess what all of the pictures were I posted where. From what I understand through 'using some code' you should be able to restore them again? I really dont know how this works (I couldn get it to), and I could use a hand here. It's already bad enough that I have to go through everything I ever posted here on the server, on more than one account even, if I also have to 'guess' what was where... *shakes* Sort of makes me feel miserable as I think it's about more than a hundred pictures, all selected carefully at the time, some edited or handmade. I have several backupped, but not all either :(

*tries to be hopeful, but it feels like a disaster*

The pictures are all still there for me. I can see them.

Maybe there's something wrong on the way between the provider and you.

In any case if you want to make sure, they won't get lost, I would save them in a separate folder on your computer. If really anything happens someday they're not completely lost. So you can still upload them again somewhere else.

But right now, they're all there for me. :)

That is so odd, I can't see them on my computer (I used two webbrowsers), or my cell, tablet... :o

Meanwhile the internet has been completely reset here. I tried from other locations as well, both wifi as well as 3G network. The computer has had a 'dns flush' thing, and still nothing.
It's so odd that people can see them and I can't. I'd expect we all can, or cannot?
PS: I used the same website to restore a pic and that worked, visible to me after.

It looks like one will have to change all URL addresses that used http://s11.postimg.org ti http://s11.postimg.cc.

I just tried it myself, taking an image that used .org for postings on BGTSCC, and manually replaced with .cc. Then, the image showed up!

It would be nice to know if this is a forever change, or just a temporary thing.

I also found this notice from postimage:
postimg.ORG domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice.
While we hope to resolve the issue, we chose postimg.CC as our new home.
Please update codes embedded in your websites.

Hey, that org to cc thing works indeed!

I'll hold for some of my pictures then to see if they fix it.

In the interim, I would highly recommend doing as Miyuki suggests, and make back-ups of any images you can get to; either on your pc or stuff them in a cloud storage somewhere. That way if your image hoster goes completely belly up, you can still access what you've done and just get it hosted somewhere else.

Losing things you've put a lot of work into is the epitome of rage, I know. It's a big part of why I have multiple copies of anything, anymore.
