All of the incredible art in this community inspired me to attempt to learn digital painting - something I pick up every couple years and almost immediately give up on when it's not immediately perfect. But thanks to support and input from some super talented people (looking at you Wolfy, wangxiuming, and Fury), I'm giving it a proper go.

This first piece isn't what I'd consider done-done, but I'm sick of looking at it and have buttoned it up enough for now. Maybe some day when I can paint backgrounds this will get something more interesting.

This was inspired by my attempts to learn how to paint skin and the ritual bath in which Sunites partake.

Be warned: the following link contains SRP!!!
It's just a butt.

I really have to tell you, I wish my very first digital piece looked nearly so refined! It has been a delight to watch that take shape, and I hope you keep going with it, because you truly do have a talent!

I decided to go back to basics and work on value painting, and decided to use Mercator's Cosimo Delucca as a practice subject!

Look at that cheeky handsome devil! Whoever plays that character must be someone of élan and flair to even think about creating such a dapper individual!

...seriously though, this is amazing (And a surprise too!) - you captured the character more closely than even my own imagination. For going back to basics it looks pretty advanced to me!

Thankyou :)

That is quite impressive!

I saw the picture before I read the post, my first thought was " Thats Cosimo." Very well done!

Wow Rhaegar you're missing out! We've heaps of fab artists amongst our ranks.

I suspected Cosimo had charm, but yeow! That's a very 'British' painting! No wonder he's a lady's man! He'll be hearing from Scarlett again soon! Maybe ;)

And people wondered why he was Rania's first love....the poor gal never stood a chance against a smile like that and those eyes. Excellent job!

That's a really nice portrait Lunchbox! I'm very amazed. You've managed to capture the personality of the character extraordinary well. Immediately when I saw that, there wasn't a doubt about it being Cosimo '

I look forward to seeing more art from you!
