NPC Portrait Art Project

Unread post by DM Golem »

Hello BGTSCC's artists!

I've been thinking about commissioning art of the server's key NPCs, in order to help players visualise them. These would be added to a Dramatis Personae in the Lore of the Lands forum, with some basic information about what would be known for use by players.

As such, I have come humbly to the community to ask for those willing to step forward and undertake a piece of art of one of these NPCs. This would be a rolling project, with a few NPCs going up each month looking for willing artists! Commission costs would be met but of course, any public spirited discounts will not be refused by my wallet!

Brief descriptions and memorable things to note will of course be provided to any artists as part of the process.

Additionally, if anyone wishes to help me fund this project by meeting some or all of the cost of a commission, I would be very grateful.

The First NPCs

Of course, this can be none other than our esteemed Dukes.

Grand Duke Eltan
Stern military man.
Complete!

Grand Duke Belt
Retired adventurer, bright of eye and of ruddy of skin.
Complete!

Grand Duke Entar Silvershield
The standards by which fashions are set. IN PROGRESS

Grand Duke Liia Jannath
Reserved elegance.
Complete!

The Second NPCs - May

Let us now turn to the shady, nefarious or simply greedy powers of the north and south.

Mag of Soubar
A weathered old barkeep with a sharp tongue, whose power remains a mystery. IN PROGRESS

Imperceptor Vyshasa, the Eye of Fzoul
A one eyed priest of Bane, of military discipline and iron resolve. Senior Zhentarim commander west of the Dales.

High Admiral Cyrano Ambrosio
A dashing gentleman pirate clad in the finest fashions, who looks quite out of place in Roaringshore until you see the look in his eyes. IN PROGRESS

Baliff Jhanos Axehand
Amnian representative for the northern frontier, he carries with him the authority of the secretive council of Six, and speaks for the wealthiest nation in Western Faerun.

I love this idea.

I see it as a way to both enrich our community and help support our community artists.

As such, I'm going to take the opportunity to make the first offer to help DM Golem with the costs of these commissions, should they be fulfilled.

I'd be down as well, I do a much less realistic style and lean harder on comic/stylized cartoon art.

https://imgur.com/a/qVUJyi9 This is just a gaggle of portraits I've done lately, some commissions some 'cuz.

$45 per!

The idea is awesome, btw. I've always wanted to open up commissions like this for players and keep an ever updating folder that people can download so everybody can see everybody else's portraits in-game, I think this is a great step towards that.

Belt sounds good to me, I have no preference one way or the other. Just need a general idea of what he looks like in game.

Unfortunately for the last 7 years I have been here, Eltan has been an auburn blonde not raven haired! I think we'll match him to the IG NPC alas.

It would be great to get some community art though, part of my hope here is to showcase some of the fantastic people who do commissions here!

I can draw Eltan for you, my dear dullahan. Just send me the deets in a pm and I'll get right on it.

I don't do commissions personally, so you needn't sweat the price.

This project and it's contributions are amazing. Thank you each for your time and Golem for creating the idea.

Hopefully the portraits bring the faces of NPCs in BG:TSCC more alive for everyone.
