Welcome to server!

My player is Kiran, a wizard/alchemist/merchant yupe. I am UK based however so if you are looking for apprentice/master stuff I might not be a good choice if you are in a different time zone.

However in regards to builds or wizard concepts I am always happy to help, can pm me and we can swap details.

Welcome to server! (Again)

New player here!

I've been having a lot of fun Rping with everyone while playing Enielli! Even you evil tieflings! (Hope you know I am enjoying it even though my RP makes me seem like I'm not! :P) Everyone has been really nice and accepting and it's made for a very enjoyable experience.

Thank you!

Not exactly new to the server hence the date I joined but figured now is a good of time as any to Introduce the player behind the character.
My name is Kyle and I've been on and off the server throughout the years but never got to experience epic game play. (I am getting close with this new toon however). More than likely I am either barbecuing or reading something I have to know about D&D for fun when I'm not gaming.
I am playing Aksel the fighter/thief and im having fun getting him involved in whatever mayhem the community is getting into.

Nice seeing Galdra and Enielli on hereXD

Hello everyone!

I have played on this server for a short time years ago, and about a week ago i decided to give it another try. I've been enjoying my time here alot, and feel like i actually made a character this time that i enjoy roleplaying while i'm alone and with others. I already met alot of kind players that helped me IC and OOC, as i struggle through the learning curve of roleplaying "do's and don't" and the lore of the Sword Coast.
Thanks to those kind players, it feels alot less daunting for me as a new player. So, thank you! :)

I'm from the Netherlands and play the character named Bren Carvell, see you ingame!

Hello everyone,

I'm not exactly a new player, I played here several years ago and am very much interested in returning to this fine roleplaying server. I'm a bit rusty on the roleplaying but am eager to jump back into my half-elf Sheffield Gull! I can't wait to enjoy sharing adventures with the people here.
Thanks in advance for the good times!

Well met!

I'm Madeleine - my handle is derived from my favorite necromantic spell, Wail of the Banshee, which I used with maniacal glee when I played a chaotic evil murderess many years ago. I typically go by "Whimsy" on roleplaying boards!

Neverwinter Nights was my gateway into communal worldbuilding and can even take the lion's share of credit for my adoration of fantasy, which eventually developed into a fondness for all genres. I don't know exactly what possessed me to purchase the game - I think it was the hypnotic symbol of Tyr that lured me. I completed the single player campaigns, and finally realized there was a multiplayer component! My regular haunts were Sigil and Arelith. Today, I found "NWNList Scry" and noticed this persistent world was the most popular!

If memory serves correctly, I haven't roleplayed in earnestness since I graduated high school, so it'll have been a full decade. I tried to venture into forum roleplaying, but the pace lags a bit, and there are pre-established groups that seem wary of a newcomer (I'm not, but they don't remember me - ha!). I enjoy that Neverwinter Nights elapses in real time, has just enough graphics to stimulate the senses without overriding the players' writing, and a stirring soundtrack.

I'm aspiring to play a character other than a bard: this was usually my default class in order to pop in at random periods and still keep abreast of goings-on. I would greatly appreciate being a member of a party, an apprentice, a mercenary, or any other role that would facilitate interacting with others. Even if I play a clandestine character that lurks in the shadows, I'd wish for this choice to lend momentum to story dynamics.

I prefer to steep myself in lore before coming to the fore. Which threads would be optimal for me to peruse? Also, is "Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition" sufficient to play along?

Admittedly, I'll need a fair bit of help to orient myself and leap into the ongoing plot. I'm very excited though - this game is indelibly embedded into my memories, and I hope to generate more adventures!

Hi and welcome!

Our server is for Neverwinter Nights 2, so Enhanced Edition of the first game will not help for playing here.

With that said the game can be purchased on the cheap at gog.com here:  https://www.gog.com/game/neverwinter_nights_2_complete

Once you have the game, you'll probably also want to install Skywing's client extender - it allows numerous extra features like enhanced chat commands which help out a lot with role-playing as well as helping the decade old game run better on modern systems. The server will automatically download and install the files needed to play the first time you connect, which is a pretty convenient and painless process.

There's room for basically any style of character here and the community is very inclusive of new players so whatever you do play will likely be fine, just pick something you like.

In terms of lore, the server is based on FR but there's a decent chunk of server specific custom and Homebrew stuff happening - mostly for the sake of recognizing events that have happened in the ten years the server has been running. Timeline wise we are pre-time of troubles, so certain gods don't exist or are still alive depending.

My best advice to you is to play a character with some manner of backstory from someplace else and hop in and play. Learn organically through role-play the lore of current events and react and let them shape your character as you see fit. IMO it is easier for a new player to the server to do that because it saves you a huge amount of research on things that might not even be documented anywhere publicly. Relax, don't stress, and have fun.

Look forward to playing with you! :)

Ah! That's convenient, as I already have Neverwinter Nights 2, but it's just been languishing unplayed for even longer than its predecessor.

Correction: I need to reinstall it since I previously removed it. Hooray for storing games on a cloud!

Sigh, I always have the most troubles with forging a character: either you're from another region, in which case it can feel forced to suddenly land upon the realm in question, or you're based locally, and the pressure to absorb all the surrounding happenings is steep!

I typically like to know about one noteworthy event or rumor that would whet the appetite of many who hear it, otherwise I struggle with the intersection of a character's backstory and the current actions transpiring. Truly, the first step is the most daunting. D:

At any rate, I won't dominate this introduction thread, and I'll meander about for intel.

Most people don't go around telling their entire backstory to every single person they meet! You'll be fine. Just ask around, read the message boards (We even have some in-game!) and mingle and socialize at hotspots. You'll pick up rumors and information pretty quickly.

In the worst case you could also make a character expressly with the intent of getting to know the server a bit before you roll the character you intend to play. There's no limit to how many characters people can play at once, after all!
