I saw this in a news report.

Very interesting. But I am afraid the characters are going to be far far too similar to Simpson/Futurama characters.

I too tried hard to like it, but I just could not.

It has potential, but everything inconsistent. It tries to be vulgar, but then pulls back, it tries to push limits on TV, but pulls it back.

Hopefully Part 2 will change direction. Either go with being pure clean fun, or just push the limits like Futurama or Family Guy.

It is basically a fantasy series in a way that The Orville was to Star Trek.

The first few episodes are full of terrible, bad, old jokes that produce more cringe than anything else. The reason why these jokes exists is because the 'big name' is previously known for his work in the field of comedy. Then another flaw is that the series is not exactly designed for binge watching. The episodes are largely stand alone adventures and they are better off with some distance in between them.

But once the ball starts rolling the number of those jokes gets reduced. They are still there every now and then but it will be much less of a distraction. There is more time for plot. More time for action scenes. In short there are more things happening and you might get enchanchanted by it without even noticing it. All characters on screen have some growth to them, and there is a large number of them. Not to mention that you might even be surprised by some of the plot twists to come.

And finally, the plot does remind me of this server. Some of the characters too. To a point where... I am starting to think Matt Groening has played or is playing on BGTSCC.

Edit: Anyhow, don't watch it for comedy. Watch it for consistent fantasy.

- Elminster, probably.
