The blood was still slowly seeping out of the continously throbbing heart, his thoughts were racing. He had been looking for explanations of natural phenomena, locked away as secrets in the Tan'ari's heart. All in vain, the little bit of blood he had been able to obtain from the extracted balor's heart had been minimal. Any attempts of reproduction had utterly failed, he was about to give up on the matter.
[The Tan'ari's heart, some trails of blood still mingling with the translucent nutrient solution]
His thoughts drifted off, it had been a harsh undertaking, it had taken almost the entire Uktar and parts of the Marpenoth. All had begun with attempts to gather a group of willing abbil, it had felt shabby, asking other drow for aid like a petitioner. Many denied him straight away, others accepted only to always lack the courage to show their pittyful faces when called to arms.
Two scouting missions with a different assortment of people had basically failed, in the end they had found the balor in an entirely different area, not the Cave initially thought of as its lair.
The group that acted on his request in the end consisted of Renor, who had proven very capable in fights, though he seemed mentally unstable sometimes leaving a lot left to desire in his behaviour.
Cinder a drow male he had seen in the tunnels surrounding Sshamath quite few times prior, seemed not to be a man of many words, mainly silently, he had been hacking away at their opponents with his two weapons. A grim hatred towards devils and demons had seemed to be his driving force.
Sz'vet was, he was in a way also quiet but differently, more in a calm manner, he did talk but if he did it always seemed thought through somehow, he had been raining death upon their opponents with arrows from the shadows, though he did not shy away from close quarters either, delivering painful blows to his unaware enemies.
Tessa his subservient from the School of Necromancy and somewhat bravely fought alongside them, well prepared it seemed with potions and even scrolls with which she provided astonishingly powerful support in form and shape of water elementals that fiercely fought the fire giants on their way to the Tan'ari.
[The balor as he came charging at them sure of its own victory]
Lastly there was Aunrae this strangely different of their kin, her views on Ilbith were most troubling to him, her fighting abilities, magical prowess and even more impressively her utmost ability to inspire courage in the hearts of her companions.
There was a moment in time where the balor was about to strike them in fear of their lives, considering a retreat but she prevailed her courage instilling words were what drove their small group of assorted to victory.
K'yon smiled at the thought of it and got himself ready for yet another row of tests with the little bit of balor blood he had left, much less devastated at his low chance to suceed.
((Thanks to DM Dialectic for making this possible and sponsoring the idea and to everyone who's helped suceeding at this truly difficult task))
