Her face is one of subtle, natural, and wholesome beauty, most often without ostentatious cosmetics or gaudy decorations, and is seemingly locked in a near-permanent smile that radiates warmth and compassion.
She usually wears her reddish-brown hair down and loose to her shoulders, which she enjoys spending time styling herself. She often carries with her a pouch of leather straps which she uses to tie it back into a loose ponytail when she needs her hands and face free and unobstructed.
Her skin is youthful, but shows some subtle signs of premature aging due to prolonged sun exposure. The skin on her palms and fingers is calloused, likely from labor.
She prefers clothing designs that favor function over form, tending towards snug-fitting trousers, boots, and blouses that allow for freedom of movement instead of an overabundance of flowing cloth, skirts, or dresses. However, she does tend towards selecting garments that are flattering to her physique while still remaining tasteful and reasonably modest. Around the city streets, she can quite often be seen wearing simple, inexpensive jewelry such as small bracelets, rings, or ear adornments that offer tasteful accents to her attire without drawing a lot of attention to them.

She genuinely enjoys the company of others, and strives to make others feel welcome around her. She does not like to see other people unhappy or hurt, and will go to great lengths to help someone she feels is in need. Her gentle, charismatic warmth is, to most, a joy and a comfort to be around.
She communicates as much through physical contact as she does through spoken words, establishing a sense of connection and trust from others through gentle touches on the arms, shoulders, and back.
Her deep mastery over her own body language and means of communication make her an exceptionally good liar, able to make blatantly false or misleading statements or movements with little to no noticeable tells or hesitation. Oddly, however, she lacks the same understanding of others' body language, and is not so keenly aware if she is being lied to or not.
Carah has a healthy sense of humor, and enjoys laughter more than anything else a conversation offers. She can be quick witted and wry when she wishes to be. She usually finds bawdy humor distasteful, but is not so prudish as to be openly offended by it unless it's excessive.
She is selective about using profanity and does not typically use such language casually, reserving it mostly for when her emotions are running high and she feels that her words need a little extra punch. Given how infrequently she swears, it usually has the desired effect.
Her speech carries a subtle Tethyrian accent that, to a Tethyrian, sounds unrefined and "backwater." While not normally overpowering, during periods of heightened emotion or, more commonly, when under the influence of alcohol, it becomes more pronounced.
She tends to avoid direct confrontation, preferring gentle diplomacy to open argument and, failing that, removing herself from uncomfortable situations rather than digging in her heels unless she is left with no other recourse. Moving her to a public display of anger takes an impressive amount of pressure, although she is still human and not incapable of emotional outbursts if pushed too far.
She is most at home in urban, developed, and highly populated areas.
She is prone to bouts of forgetfulness, inattention, and on occasion, utter obliviousness to things that aren't immediately apparent. As such, several times in the past she has been mistaken for being less intelligent than she actually is.
While not completely illiterate, Carah's common birth and upbringing did not afford her the opportunity to learn to read until much later in life, and as such she still struggles a little with written words.
She is a talented musician, an accomplished lutist, and has a beautiful singing voice, and adheres strongly to the idea that music is the language of the soul. However, she suffers from stage fright and finds it difficult to perform in front of more than a few people. This causes her no end of distress, as she very much wishes to share her gift with others, and is often frustrated by her inability to do so. As such, she's slowly working on overcoming this fear, and has managed to find the courage to perform on a few occasions in front of a very small group.
Carah is used to the presence, influence, and sight of spirits and ghosts and is not bothered by them. In fact, in a strange way, she finds (benign) supernatural occurances strangely comforting, as they remind her of a more innocent time in her life.
|Birthday:||17 Nightal, 1331 DR|
When questioned about her own background, Carah is most forthcoming with the fact that she grew up in Velen, on the west coast of Tethyr, and is the youngest daughter of a fisherman. She then, most often, tends to steer the conversation back towards the questioner, preferring to let them do the talking.
