Xoth-Bolfkas, Stonehold

Unread post by Stonebar »

First Name: None, the monastic order allows no names as it shows a self identity.
Last Name: Assigned to the Stonehold clan, and Dwarves of the lost city of Stonebar, and to a farther extent any honorable Dwarf around him.
Nick name: Often called simply “Xoth” by those who find someone not having a name difficult. Though it’s thought stupid by him there is seen little reason to correct it.

Monastic Order:
The “Xoth-Bolfkas” is an almost unknown, even amongst kin, small Dwarven monastic order (Dwarf and 20 ranks in Lore for even minimal information).
Translated loosely in ritual high Dwarven, as learning the way of: “Secrets of the hidden-seekers”

Appearance:
Race: Dwarf, Shield
Age: 207, appearing mid to late middle age.
Build: He is of an average Dwarven build, though slightly skinner,
Height: 4’ 6”
Weight: 176 lbs.
Eyes: Ice grey/blue eyes that feel uncomfortably like their looking in to some ones soul.
Skin: Light skin tone that has a more pinkish hew when active.
Hair Style: Bald with a stark white braided beard held in place with two emeralds expertly shaped into small goblin skull clasps.

Personality Profile:
His face is Stoic, and very little emotion is shown. Of few words, he speaks in a low monotone voice, yet still caries far. He will try to use as few words as possible. This speaking style often seems standoffish, although true, it does not sound unfriendly.
The most hated of all people are traitors, and thieves, this risks making him lose his normally emotionless stoic face.

General Health: As a man far younger.
Deity: All Dwarven, to pick one shows a self identity.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Profession: Guardian of Dwarves, their like a Dwarf’s shadow, seen or unseen ever alert.
Habits/Hobbies: Watching for threats to Dwarves. Nothing else.
Languages: Common, Dwarven, Under common (Seeking out dangers from the deep).

Nature of the Xoth-Bolfkas:
No self identity, drinking, no soft beds, no women, no strong emotions, no luxuries of any sort as they distract from the ever watchful shadow. Raised from birth with no personal or clan name they are trained to be a shadow of their kin, and nothing more. While they have no name of their own, they might when dispatched to a clan temporary gain that clans name as a reminder of what’s at stake.

They are trained to be always logical. Life is seen as black and white, Dwarf and not Dwarf. If your not an honorable Dwarf you mean little, not out of coldness, just in logical efficient thought. This logic and self control means rash actions are unneeded when no kin are at risk, they will not be goaded in to a useless fight. Non Dwarves are bracketed under the category.
“A notable advantage, Useful, Potentially useful, Not useful, Potentially a risk, A risk, and Soon to be dead“.

They don’t see them selves as true kin, but as above a shadow of one, They will do anything that’s needed to protect, while of honorable focus and high discipline they readily take actions that would be dishonorable when needed as to keep the honor of “real Dwarves clean“ often with out them ever knowing. They are trained to stick to the shadows, to watch, and listen. Some are trained to act as healers silently seeking out the wounded Dwarves on battle fields, and/or shadows trained to discover information/threats and in the elimination of said threats in the most efficient manor possible.

History:
When his homeland fell to the horde of Orc aided by a powerful dark artifact, and Drow scheming he was but 2 years of age. In the chaos when the last of the women and children where evacuated amongst the cries of soon to be lost loves, and the ritualistic battle cry’s of Dwarves preparing to fight to the last for the honor of their ancient halls, his mother lost track of him. He was taken in by other Dwarves, but times were dark and choices no Dwarf would ever think of taking before now were a daily reality. He was one more mouth to feed. Without the great Halls each small clan and sub clan had no trade network, there was little food, families were small, Orc filled their mountains, and clan feuds were now common. He was given to the Monastic Order of the Xoth-Bolfkas to live out his days. It has now been almost a century sense he has awoken from sleeping with nightmares of vague memories of his lost family. He has given him self wholly to the Order and all that it stands for and to restore the orders dishonor in failing to protect those Great Dwarven halls, and letting the last King, and his family line fall.

Years have passed sense he was assigned to what little was left of the Stonehold Clan. His actions, stories, failures, and successes are many, but he is not one to talk about such things. He is now seeking to restore his body that was wracked with magic and even though his homeland and Order is now lost to him, like many of his kin, he will keep loyal and never waver to it’s ideals and his responsibility.

Goals:
* To learn of dangers/threats to the Dwarves of this land. To be useful enough to warn of, or Eliminate those dangers/threats.
* To never fail to live up to the ideals of his monastic order. To give up his own self identity, to cease to be anything but a shadow, to die inside so he can be ever watching, never distracted by happiness or sadness, protecting “real Dwarves“ so they can keep honor, marry, raise the next generation, laugh and live, with their back always guarded, and their families knowing as little danger as possible.
Revenark Stonehold Kingswarden of Stonebar. Despite the weight of his vows he will never allow himself to fail his responsibility to family regardless of personal cost[/strike]
