This character is level 8. (PvP consent not required for people who read the forum bio! You still need an IC reason, however!)
This character is not yet level 16. (No permadeath)
When this character reaches level 8, all PCs and DMs are welcome to engage in PvP without asking or providing an option to RP out, on the sole condition that they have an RP reason for this combat. (Does not have to be personal, does not have to be significant; perhaps she caught you pickpocketing her, perhaps your character is drunk and angry, perhaps you're robbing her at knifepoint and didn't want a witness.)
Furthermore, upon reaching level 16, all characters are welcome to permanently kill this character. If you do not want to kill this character in combat, make it explicitly clear that you are only incapacitating (knocking out) the character. To clarify, this character could still be raised or resurrected (if the appropriate conditions are met), as per:
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Raise_Dead
http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Resurrection
The caster would be responsible for disposing of the material components for those spells, and I would contact a DM to have the level removed. Those who do not wish for this character to be raised/resurrected should make it clear at the time of death that they are disposing of the remains, or should see that this character is killed where the body will not be found. (Death to NPCs will not lead to permadeath unless a DM wishes so.)
A Fresh Fortune
Born the only child of a well-to-do oil merchant family from Scardale, Esther was a child of commerce. Although reckless in her early years, she quickly learned pragmatism and caution as she became more involved in her family's business. A natural mathematician, she spent very little time actually trading goods, serving mostly as a micro-economist to maximize her family's gains in trading their goods.
When she reached the age of 15, her family's caravan was raided, and she was orphaned. Young and harmless enough to be spared, she was adopted by another merchant family of the region. She continued her work aiding in the logistics of planning trade routes, and optimizing collective bargaining arrangements for groups of merchants, eventually setting out on her own to serve as a logistics consultant for many merchant groups throughout the Dalelands.
While she has made an effort to study arcana in her free time, Esther is far from an accomplished mage, and has not the personality for the role. Her cautious, pragmatic nature havs taught her to respond very practically to difficulties, without letting emotion or ambition cloud her judgment. This makes her a somewhat submissive and a very forgiving character, though she will harbor strong mistrust long after forgiving a betrayal or misjudgment. Unseasoned in adventuring, her pragmatism leads to over-cautiousness, making her very risk-averse and fond of letting others fight her battles, unless she has the certainty of overwhelming force in her favor. She is not, however, reluctant to take calculated action where necessary; she simply ensures that it is worth the liability.
She has recently left the Dalelands in her quest to amass wealth, setting her sights firmly on the Sword Coast.
