Background: Diane was born on a farmstead not too far from the city of Neverwinter. However, her life changed early when her farm was attacked. Forced to hide under the house and remain silent; Diane was present as all her family were killed above her. While she hid from the carnage above her, she had to share her crawlspace with beetles, centipedes, and other crawling insects which did not like her being there. While hiding she accidentally disturbed an ant's nest; which resulted in more biting. She managed to stay silent, but she passed out from the pain and shock of everything.

When she came to; she had been found and nursed back to health by a traveling Ranger named Kent. Kent taught her three things in those moments; that he was the boss, she would learn to shoot to be useful; and that no God would save her. For the next several years of her life, Diane lived with Kent and his pet bear Bubbles in the Neverwinter Wood. Kent was a protector of the woods, but was also predatory; and would sometimes prey upon travelers headed between Luskan and Neverwinter. Kent discovered Diane's bug fear early on, and would use that in addition to other intimidation tactics to keep Diane in line. Kent's favourite trick involved covering Diane's arm in honey, then making her stick her arm into holes. When Diane pulled out her arm, coated in bugs, Kent would make Bubbles lick them off.

Diane didn't have a good head for learning, but she did have good aim. Her bow skills grew at a rapid rate. When she wasn't shooting dinner, she was fletching arrows or preparing new bow strings. Diane started to accept that this was her life; until a local militia from Luskan managed to injure Kent, and capture Diane. After learning her story; the authorities decided not to press any charges, aside from one. Diane was placed in a local village south of Luskan, and was forced to join the militia there until the village deemed her services repaid.

Diame's phobia took awhile to reveal itself, but when it did the local wizard took pity on her. With his help, Diane learned several techniques on how to concentrate better. If she couldn't overcome her fear, it was the wizard's hope that she would be able to function while exposed to it. Whenever her phobia wasn't causing her problems; Diane quickly accomplished herself as a militia woman. She participated in archery contests, and defended the town from raiding goblins and bugbears with her fellows. When Diane turned seventeen, she was finally released from the village's service. All Diane wanted to do was leave her past behind, and move forward. The wizard she was training with suggested a new place; head south to Baldur's Gate.

Diane took her time while heading south. She accepted caravan guard duties; the occasional hunt request; and participated in local archery competitions. When she passed through Neverwinter, she took some time to say goodbye to her parents. As Diane traveled south, she realized that the strict teachings of archery and concentration gave her a focused perspective on life. She saw everything in it's place; and where hers could be within it.

As Diane got closer to Baldur's Gate, she heard rumours of a call for soldiers. Excited that she might start her new life with a familiar setting, Diane rushed to meet her destiny, and see where her story begins.

Goals:
1) Perfect her archery.
2) Join a prestigious organization and distinguish herself within it.
3) Build the best bow ever seen.
4) Find and build the best arrows ever seen.
5) Conquer her fear.
6) Find a Deity to worship.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
- Diane's phobia manifests in one of three ways: she either runs, rages, or freezes. What result occurs is random; but what triggers it is the same. Any insect causes Diane to suffer a severe phobia attack; the least effects render her useless as an archer.
- Diane's insect phobia has given her a strange appreciation for spiders. These beings hunt and slaughter the very things Diane fears most; she feels a strange kinship with spiders, and will only attack them in self-defense.
- Diame is looking for employment as an archer.
- Diane is always seeking better bows and arrows; prioritizing her profession over all other forms of equipment.
- Diane is very uneducated. It shows in her lack of experience with the varied enemies of the Realms. Furthermore, Diane's lack of deity comes from her naivete; believing the words of Kent.
- Diane knows Kent isn't dead; and is fearful of the day he'll return to her life. She's hoping that when he does show up, she'll be strong enough to fight against him.
