Background:
Nearly twenty-eight years ago, an event rarer than the sighting of a half-orc Sunite blessed the south of Faerun. Sunniva yr Tazorah al Kahyr, an angelic combination of human and celestial heritage, drew her first breath at the light of dawn. The heavens would smile upon the young Aasimar that day.
…but such smiles are fleeting, if not fickle...

The birth of the one known as Sunniva is an unfortunate mess, compared to the normal standards of which most humanoids are brought into this world.

Sunniva’s mother, a well-known gossiper in the city of Keltar, was quite undeserving of the title. Muddled and entwined in her own beauty, ego and desire for wealth, she was often found throwing herself at the wealthiest humanoid in proximity - regardless of race.

It was only a matter of time before such meanderings would result in a child, whether planned or not. Unfortunately, the poor resulting girl known as Sunniva was deemed a mistake by her mother. Not least because she could not bear to look upon the child that carried not one but three of the assumed father’s most prominent features: Ashy gray hair, pointed ears and deep amber-colored eyes. At least his horns she did not inherit. And yet all her mother could see was a demon-child of bad omen.

In a preemptive move against those who would spew hateful speech against her for raising the irregular child, as well as for her own sanity, the woman made the only decent move in her entire ‘career’ of a mother and left her child with a former lover.

Under his care, Sunniva grew up learning all the strange shamanic customs and humbug rituals the self-proclaimed psychic dabbled in for a living. Yet the rumors surrounding her ‘tainted-blood’ clung to the girl even when she grew old enough to read the future in butterfly dust and communicate with deceased pet weasels.

Hardly anyone dared to seek her counsel. It didn’t help that she had grown unusually tall, deflected insecure insults with a strangely kind attitude and spent many nights with her palms and forehead planted on the graveyard’s dead tree to “listen to its stories”.

When one dull night the city’s only other contact for all things vague and esoteric died an underwhelming and sudden death in his sleep, it came as no surprise that an angry mob formed to accuse the seemingly suspicious foster daughter of cold murder.

The furious group rolled over Sunniva in a merciless wave of destruction, stabbing out an eye here, breaking several bones there, tying her to that dreadful dead tree and setting both on fire.

Once more at the light of dawn, when all had burned to ashes and only cold dust remained, the planetouched human emerged from the remains not only alive but entirely unscathed.
Sunniva would have been relieved at this, had not the graveyard suddenly looked awfully crowded to her, abuzz with shapes and voices that retold the stories only the tree had shared with her until then.

Mildly irritated by all the chatter, formless entities and the general way in which her day had developed, Sunniva gathered up the tree’s ashes in her hands and began to walk north.

Race:
Aasimar
Age:
27
Weight & Height:
Tall and skinny
Eyes:
Pupil-less and orange
Hair:
Grey

Languages:
Common, Alzhedo, Infernal

Profession:
Seer, Dreamreader, Fortuneteller, Soothsayer

Base Class & Proposed Development:
Pure Spirit Shaman

Personality Profile:
Calm: Sunniva’s calmness is anchored in a deep confidence that something will keep her safe and that she cannot truly be harmed. Some find that comforting, others infuriating, and yet again others unsettling.
Honest: Her opinion will be truthful and never bent or watered down, no matter how hurtful.
Moony: Due to her upbringing, Sunniva believes in and practices an odd mix of mystic humbug and true shamanism. It is rarely clear which is which and while she is aware that her abilities reach beyond those of her foster father, she cannot distinguish between the two.
Unfazed: Since she already believes in the most absurd things and is inherently calm, Sunniva is hard to surprise or shock. It adds to her appearing moony and disconnected at times.

Likes:
Tattoos, ponds, graveyards and large cities.

Dislikes:
Snakes, apathy and fast paced conversations.

Alignment:
Chaotic Good. Sunniva will offer her guidance to anyone in need without hesitation. While she will share her thoughts and advice, she won’t attempt to force any particular “good” path onto anyone, but respect their individual decisions, whatever those may be.

Goals:
- make a name for herself as a Soothsayer/Seer/Dreamreader
- seek assistance from a druid and/or shaman to get a better grasp of how to draw power from nature, as her only teacher so far was an urban shaman
- find out somehow whether she really is a demon-child and what kind

Possible Plot-Hook ideas and Misc Facts:
- Sunniva doesn’t know what exactly happened that night she was tied to the tree
- Her foster father was in fact an unsuccessful shaman in hiding. He was cast out of his tribe after being unable to establish a bond to the spirits. His tribe would not approve of him having passed on his half knowledge after being deemed unworthy of the position as shaman.
- Sunniva continues to believe that she carries some fiendish blood in her, although considering her mother’s ‘frequent activities’ someone could have the epiphany that her father may be someone else entirely.
- She learned Infernal to connect with her “heritage”
