If he offers an insult, or he feels the other party may have felt what was delivered is an insult, and a like or better insult is returned, he will laugh heartily and with gusto. Background:
Born in The Year of the Griffon (1312) on the fifth day of Alturiak, the Claw of Winter, originally in the town of Everlund. Durim is the progeny of a blacksmithing merchant, his father, and the head priest for Everlundian dwarves of Berronar Truesilver, his mother. His parents were second generation Everlundians, their relatives and several clansmen having been ousted by Shimmergloom’s rise from the Plane of Shadows in Mithral Hall.

Finding smithy work not to his liking, Durim signed on with with the local militia, the Army of the Vale, and was initially assigned a station guarding the Dwarfbridge, working his way up in the local companies pushing back the local orcs, goblins and giants of the Nether Mountains. It is during this time of duty where he learned the languages of his racial enemies, from his company sergeant, a shield dwarf fighter-cleric of Clangeddin Silverbeard named Garn Anvilstrike. Garn was a veteran of the 1343 orcish horde campaign, having missed the battle of Turnstone Pass due to being on assignment in another area of the Nether Mountains.

It is on a similar tour of duty in the Nether Mountains, during Durim's service with the company, that the calamity of Rith Ua the Merciless struck the town of Everlund. Upon returning to Everlund with his company, Durim found that his parents were homeless, due to it being razed by dragon fire. By Vergadain's luck, the two had been on a trip to Silvermoon on business, and returned to find their home destroyed. Durim's wages from service in the company, as well a sizable portion of his family's monetary holdings were used to reconstruct their home.

His mother was extremely devout, and Durim worships Gorm Gulthyn, though he is not particularly favored by the Morndinsammen. Durim considers himself very protective of the dwarven way and in particular, keeping oaths of honor, courage in battle and a watchful presence always.

In 1351, Durim began to feel a longing to see lands beyond the Nether Mountains region, and soon thereafter, departed after saying his farewells and clearing his contract with the Army of the Vale.

Durim traveled along with a caravan southwest to Yartar, then took a boat down the River Dessarin, picking up a Baldur’s Gate traveling caravan at the Coast Way along the borders of the Ardeep Forest, arriving less than a ten-day ago. He has already found local circumstances that he believes he can help remedy.

Goals:
Durim wishes to find like-minded comrades to aid him in the struggle against local ruffians who’re robbing caravans along the Coast Way and elsewhere. He wishes to continue to expand his martial training, believing that the best forms of defense involve mitigating damage in the first place. If you can’t hit it, you can’t hurt it. If you can’t hurt it, you can’t kill it.

Additionally, Durim would like to attain steady work, so as to raise enough coin to send home.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Durim has a deep and abiding disdain for cold weather, and wears a cloak made of winter wolf pelt to keep the elements at bay and to warm him on cold nights.

Durim considers any attempt to aid him to be worthy of merit and appreciation. He will usually acknowledge these circumstances through some sort of contractual arrangement, either self-initiated, or via negotiation with the respective party or parties as a way of repayment.

Durim considers the use of poison or negative energy (magic or weaponry variants) to be dishonorable forms of combat, and shuns their usage on a personal level. Furthermore, he loathes dirty fights, and when engaged in combat, will tend toward laying low those who would stab others in the back unaware, feeling that they’re an affront to vigilance and honor.

Of particular note, he bears a significant deal of loathing for banditry, thuggery and robbery, acknowledging that those whom are robbed by unskilled and local thieves, often are the ones who can least afford the loss of their goods or coin.

Durim is not particularly xenophobic, but he does bear a disdain for the traditional enemies of civilization and dwarven kind, having learned their forms of verbal communication to better combat their battle tactics. He also has a deep and abiding hatred for dragonkin due to the carnage wrought on Everlund by Rith Ua.

He bears no outright grudges against half-orcs, having seen his share of them as a soldier in the Army of the Vale.

Recent Developments
Durim has attained employment with the Darius Holding Company.

He has also picked up the hobby of fishing, finding that he enjoys the solitude that it offers. He has gotten better at it, having recently landed a large marlin that he quickly sold for some decent coin.

///I've added an increase to his Survival skill signifying his increase in capability.///
