Background: During the destruction of House DeVir in 1297 a young drow male and prospect of the Melee-Magthere, Nargazul, escaped the city of Menzoberranzan and the wrath of the rival House Do'Urden with a small group of siblings and cousins.

This harsh exile to the tunnels of the Fardrimm shaped the young warrior and his siblings more than any other time in their life. Nargazul took the strict training and discipline of the Melee-Magthere and bent it savagely to survive.

Survive they did - at least, some of them. Treachery, guile, murder, and barbarism marked their encounters with the other members of their race. In the darkness of those tunnels between Menzoberranzan and Chaulssin they carved a living as what might be described as bandits. Poorly guarded caravans were sabotaged, and ambushed repeatedly using traps and crossbow volleys until they were abandoned. From time to time they managed to kidnap a wealthy merchant or noble of a lesser House and, occasionally, the ransom was paid. Other times, the captive became meat for the pot.

After some time this troublesome drow warrior in rothe hides and his band earned a small reputation, complete with bounty, and became the target of much undesired attention. Some of the tribe wanted to make for Ched Nassad - others, Eryndlyn. During the heat of the dispute the small group suddenly found themselves in an violent ambush of Militant Myrlochar who had been dispatched from the Temple in Menzoberranzan.

Fleeing the bloody skirmish Nargazul escaped alone to Ched Nasad. A time of reflection passed here - the young warrior looked upon his past and his future. Lolth had abandoned DeVir - but he had survived his house. In Ched Nasad, Nargazul renewed his vows to Lolth and Selvetarm. Not content to abide there, knowing he may have been pursued, he hired as a caravan guard for a merchant travelling to S'shamath - the irony of the job not lost on the raider.

Nargazul arrived at S'shamath with hopes of leaving the infamy of his house's fall behind him, and dreams of contributing to drow conquest by the city's proximity and exposure to the realm above...
