Background:
Cordaelio hails from Waterdeep, where he lived most of his life as an archivist in the Helm's Hall, where he lived a simple life. Cordaelio had a wife and a daughter, whom he loved and cared for.
When Cordaelio was 21 years old, what seemed like another normal day at the temple, got interrupted by some strange men that went to the temple and spoke with the priests, Cordaelio just heard the heated discussion but he paid little attention to whatever they were discussing, his job was to archive and transcribe and thats what he did, not meddle in the affairs of the church.
That day, Cordaelio had a lot of work and he stayed in the temple until late night hours. He did not know what was in store for him.
Cordaelio was working on his last document when he heard some noises in the church, he usually worked in the basement so most things that happened on the first floor werent heard by him. But after a moment of hearing the noises, he could smell something, smoke.
When he opened the door he saw that the temple was on fire and that he was trapped in it.
Cordaelio did his best to get out alive, and he did, thanks to Helm, but his eyes were damaged beyond repair.
Cordaelio heard the screams of the town guard as they tried to set off the fire, he could not see anymore, he fell to the ground many times and he was unable to get to his home on his own until one of the guards helped him after the fire was controlled. No one was hurt in the fire, only Cordealio.

Cordaelio was taken to a priest on the next day, but the damage to his eyes was strange, the fire that burnt in the church that night was of a strange nature and left a permanent scar on Cordaelio, as even the most powerful spells of the priest could only heal the wound so much, but not recover the eye completely.

This changed Cordaelio's life forever, he was unable to continue his work as archivist and he was limited to most things he could do. Cordaelio's wife left him and took his daughter with her, with him having little choice in the matter, not knowing where she went. All that he learned is that she left Waterdeep.

He did the most foolish thing and tried to look for her on his own, he wandered by himself for a long time, falling, getting bruised, robbed and everything that could happen to a blind man who decides to venture into the wilds for himself.

One day when he was sure that was his last day on the living plane, he asked Helm, why someone who dedicated his life to the service of the church especifically with his eyes would suffer something like that, he talked about irony, he cried and he was ready to die, until he heard a voice answer to him. "Who's there? Did Helm send you?" The voice answered: "Nobody sent me here, but it looks like you need help" The female voice answered. After that he fainted and passed out.

He was taken to a temple of Ilmater where he was healed and his life was saved. When he recovered, the same female voice that spoke to him in the road, spoke again "What were you doing out by yourself?". "Trying to die" he answered "But it seems its not my time yet".

"My name is Maheda, I belong to The Broken Ones, we serve Ilmater and help those in need, it seems you need help"

Cordaelio had respect for the Church of Ilmater, he was taken to a monastic order where he started training and learned about the church of Ilmater and was taught about their ways.

Cordaelio became a master of hand to hand combat and understood how to master himself. He and Maheda lived on the road, traveling and helping travelers in need. There Maheda taught him how to track, survive and move in the wilderness (and cities) and how to be able to use his skills to be independant.

Cordaelio traveled the roads of the Sword Coast and Amn and he learned how to heal wounds and how to tell if someone was injured by listening to how they breathe, walking, etc.

Now Maheda told Cordaelio that she needed to travel on his own, to master himself and reach illumination, while also helping those who need it.

Goals: Reach illumination and understand Helm and Ilmater's wishes

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Blind man
Always helps travelers around the Coast, healing them for free if they need it.
