Background
Born in Deep Imaskar, Thia's father was a wizard and his mother was an alchemist. While Thia has learned some basic alchemy from his mother, most of his teaching has been in the arcane arts from some of the city's mages. He seemed to be more adept at Conjuration than the other schools of magic. One particular mage known as Manaq, who privately tutored Thia on occasion, has claimed to have studied some of the Imaskarcana and through them knows the tragic history of the Imaskari. Thia has yet to be shown these Imaskarcana himself so he is unsure if they do exist, although he doesn't doubt the history that he is told, such is his trust in his teacher Manaq.
During these private lessons Manaq relayed the history of the Imaskari to Thia. Tales of how a magnificent and glorious empire was ruthlessly turned to ashes and dust by the hands of the Mulhorand and Unther people, who had been graciously brought to the lands of the Imaskari to find a better life. To survive, the Imaskari had to escape underground and hide there for millennia, creating a new home for themselves in the dark. Thia did not like that his great people had been brought down so low and by people, he was taught, who should have been grateful to the Imaskari for helping improve their lives.
Thia was also told about the overthrowing of the rulers of Deep Imaskar by a group of necromancers. Although a bit troubled that the rightful rulers his people had been brought down, Thia did recognise that Necromancy could be quite powerful. Indeed, Manaq had demonstrated a few spells in that school.
Now that the Great Seal has been broken and with the tragic tales of Imaskar in his head, Thia has left his home behind on what some of his people have called a reckless and almost impossible goal - to restore the empire of Imaskar. Not just to the surface but to the Underdark as well and to make it larger and grander than before. Of course Manaq has given their full blessing to the venture.
Thia knows that this cannot be done recklessly. It must be done carefully and will take a long time, possibly even beyond his own lifespan, but if he can find a way to start the restoration of Imaskar and his people to greatness, his life will have been well lived. If he succeeds in some small way, he hopes that word will somehow get back to his people since knowledge of the location of Deep Imaskar was magically removed when Thia left the city.
