Physical description:
Arthayer is of dark, golden-brown complexion, typical of many born with strong Lapal tribe bloodlines. His eyes are a radiant mix of yellow-green, the feature most directly showing his planetouched racial aspect besides smooth facial features, with a strong growth of facial hair. Tall and thin, his constitution seems of average condition for his age, along with average but fit musculature. Though of a mid-life in years, his age does not seem to hinder him in speed nor perception, giving him the appearance of a experienced, skilled traveler and adventurer...and with no obvious signs that such form is soon to diminish.
As a member of the Church of the High One, Azuth, cleric-priest Arthayer clothes himself in the typical, sensible style of form fitting cloth, a light bluish-gray in tone, and prominently stitched above his heart is an image of an upward pointing finger, with a subtle, radiating blue aura emanating from behind it, as if the weave of fibers in the cloth were alive with said aura.
As is the style of his homeland, Arthayer wears a large, puffed and rounded headpiece, that gives the overall impression of top-heaviness attire...to the constant amusement of the average person and children—so it seems—everywhere he travels.
Psychological description: WIP
Arthayer exudes a wise and tempered disposition, that which reflects either his philosophical nature or his many years of faithful, dutiful study within his religion. He is, however, a seeker...and thus, a sparkle of curiosity often twinkles in his eyes, particularly in moments when magic is the subject or object of his attention. Arthayer's philosophy is simple: spread and share the wisdom of the Weave through the Art of Power of spell casting, and, present one's self as a trusted and neutral party under the existing Law of the Land (...that one finds themselves in...). In particular, his philosophy—as is shared by many in the clergy—is that no magic or magical item shall remain unique to any one spell caster or user, thus...magic must be accessible to all, and grown, as progress in the lives of all of Faerun.
One hobby or activity that holds much interest and entertainment for Arthayer, is cards, particularly the Lords & Levies game and set...and he is a keen collector of these cards, especially those of rare and hand-crafted design. He has often been heard to speak upon the game thus: "To play the Lords & Levies is much like any spell weaving contest: presentation and counter-presentation shall determine who has come best prepared to duel...and to win."
Religious views:
Arthayer Zorastryl is a practitioner of the Power and preacher of the manifestations of the Art through spell weaving, or magic weaving. He is Azuthan clergy, trained and blessed from within the Loomwarden sect of Halruua, based within the temple House of the High One Ascendant.
Arthayer's education was rooted in the Loomwardens' philosophy on Magic, that is, a great distrust for the more chaotic aspect of magic use, in general and that which is often innately occurring for those calling themselves Sorcerers. Magic of this nature must be sternly "managed." But Arthayer has somewhat broken with this philosophy, and with more open-minded thoughts now possessing him—much of this "thinking" coming from recent exposure to the Spellsavant sect of the Azuthan Church—he has found himself nigh-excommunicated from the temple of the High One Ascendant. As well, as the schism grows within the Church of Azuth itself between these two factions and philosophies, so too does it exist in the ethics currently held by Arthayer.
Though of devout faith to the dogma of The High One, Arthayer has taken to...wander, preaching the rational use of magic, along with the seeking and documenting of great examples of magic that individuals throughout Faerun may possess. He has taken upon himself the more...secular...identity of a Magefriend, and yearns to seek and seal bonds between other rational spellcasters in what ever land he finds himself.
Ancestor:
The Zorastryl family stretches back in lineage for generations. Typical of Halruuan ancestry, their bloodline is mixed from sources of Lapal tribes and the Netherese. It is a known trait within the family that every so often, a generation will see the birth of a celestially blessed child. It either unknown or the greatest of family secrets, when and where the first touch of celestial patronage occurred, or...that it is still occurring, and all are promised to never reveal the conception. Those who are such blessed progeny, are early on in life promised and given to the service of the Church of Azuth, considering their innate abilities bolstering even greater capabilities.

History
“You already know that Halruaa is the best and most civilized land in the Realms. Only there, is magic truly utilized to its fullest potential. The other lands of Faêrun differ greatly from Halruaa. You must learn carefully, if you would survive to become a....”
At a very early age, Arthayer was submitted to study within the the temple House of the High One Ascendant. Throughout years of study, practice and development high up in the Lhairghal Mountains of Halruaa, he managed to keep steady contact with the greater Zorastryl family, based in Halarahh, merchants of spell components (allowing the family, over generations, to have a general greater exposure to non-Halruaan culture through trade).
As a acolyte within the Loomwarden sect of the Azuthan Church, Arthayer developed a rational mindset toward magical use. But in the following years of full adulthood, when Arthayer was tasked to locate and observe instances of magic use that were cause for attention by the Church, he stumbled upon other acolytes and with teaching of the Spellsavant sect, that being a sect that strove for the ever-expanding wealth of arcane knowledge by all of humanity, regardless of the source of their abilities.
This greater freedom in thought within the same practice of worship of the Church of Azuth, caused a rising need within Arthayer to break with his tradition, leading to a fractious relationship with his masters and mentors. Such a delicate state of relations finally broke, when the now referred to Time of Troubles occurred in the year 1358 DR, when priests where unable to call upon their deity to bless them with the Power. This essential "powerlessness" gave Arthayer's devotion great pause...but then a glimmer of fate captured him in his doubt, when it was learned at the temple House of the High One Ascendant that The High One himself, Azuth, was known to be present in the lands in mortal form, currently guarding the Pool of Yeven, south of Cormanthor.
Taking this as a sign to renew his faith, Arthayer began his long journey out of Halruaa by foot, only empowered by the non-magic powers his years of training had bestowed upon him. They were enough...to keep him alive upon the road, upon this pilgrimage. But as things came to be, the Time of Troubles was ended before Arthayer had reached his destination of audience with his God. Stopped short and upon the northern shores of the Sea of Fallen Stars, Arthayer found himself alone but curious to the world, now with answers returned in prayers, but without any particular direction.
The road had found Arthayer making many friends among those who had lesser or greater skills with the Weave, even when it temporarily yielded such chaotic results. Arthayer had found a new sense of being, that being a cleric who held onto faith even when prayers no longer were answered, and yet he was able to gain experience and greater service to his deity, taking on prestige and mastery in the newly reached hierophant form.
It was most recently that Arthayer learned of various fluctuations of magic use and development upon the far Sword Coast of Faerun, a place rumored to constantly create and destroy aspects of magic, both good and evil...and so much possibly lost. Considering his options in the mid-life years of age, Arthayer committed himself to reach this far western coast, and with great blessing, discover and/or collect a great item of magic, such that would grant him entry in to Order of the Forgotten Page.
Perhaps with this ascendancy, Arthayer wishes his inner conflict on the opposing philosophies of the Church of Azuth, may find resolve in great service to his Lord.

Plot hooks
- Arthayer, as magistrati, yearns to create neutral and strong bonds between opposing powers and faiths that rely on the use of Magic. But to hold such high ideals—and to resolve conflicts in this arena...—may come at a personal cost.
- with the recent chaos of magic during the Time of Troubles, a priest-faithful to the Lord of Spells has much work to do, in order to assure the common folk—and perhaps even the uncommon folk!—that magic and spellwork is again in balance, under the control of the "learning" new god Mystra. But renewed faith is not always easily won....
- Arthayer has heard rumor that the Vorthryn's Archivir—one of the few holy books of the faith that is not a Touched Tome—has been seen or used upon the Sword Coast in the vicinity of Baldur's Gate. This book of prayers (spells) dedicated to the god by the priest who crafted it long ago, Vorthryn Saraddath, would be an great event for Arthayer, and a possible acceptable entrance to the Order of the Forgotten Page, if he was able to learn from it.
