Lucretia heard the destruction and panic outside and within the Bladestone Foundation building: animals stampeding across the hillside, adventurers swooping into the Warrior's Rest seeking shelter from the madness, gnolls howling. She moved between the school's infirmary and the kitchen, getting shaken customers a hot meal or a drink to soothe their nerves, and simultaneously helping the medics prepare for an even larger influx of patients and refugees. At a loss of where else to set up cots, she directed a few of the bouncers to put them in the arena for now.

Then the 'Sending' came from Firenzio. He sounded harried.

"There's a colony of frightened dire badgers running towards the Rest, I counted at least twenty-three. Get everyone inside if--" Her lover's voice echoing in her mind trailed off abruptly.

"Firenzio?" she thought. "Are you alright?"

But her reply was met with the psychological void of a 'Sending' not reaching its recipient.

He's fine, she convinced herself, he probably had to drop his locket to grab his hatchets out there... Even though that would not have feasibly explained why the 'Sending' failed.

With a spark of determination in her eyes, the barmaid shoved open the front door and called out to the people on the patio who wanted to watch the world end with drinks in hand. Black clouds swirled in the heavens. Flaming meteors rained down further along the Lion's Way, causing a forest fire. Lucretia stared at the billowing blaze in the distance, wondering to herself if the Earth Mother wept.

"Come inside, it's not safe out here," she said after several heartbeats to the curious rubberneckers. Her tone sounded more brusque than she intended.

The adventurers dawdled.

"I mean it. There's something bad coming. I just got a 'Sending'." Her voice, and expression fell on that last word.

The adventurers grumbled and filed inside.

"Reinhard will take good care of you," Lucretia said absently to them as she stepped onto the patio, tensed her jaw, and marched right through the gate in search of that impossible tiefling.

A sorceress of no small talent could handle a few angry badgers, right?

Once the aftermath sinks in and rumors reach some peoples ears of a calm after the storm, the Guard and red hair Tiefling Dispira Vrye would be standing outside the warriors rest and moving around in between to spot any desperate and reckless raiders and looters in search of what they lost back home.

The movements of her post are a bit random and hard to pin down exactly what it starts and will end, before moving back inside to resume other duties to only rotate back out again and repeat all over again.
After years of trying to give others a chance to prove to me they can shape up here, I have run out of patience. The numbers of nwn2 overall dropping in the past few years have told me the path others truly want to take. Actions speak louder than words.

It's not worth the investment.

The school was quiet late at night. Guards outside on patrol, Liliana napping between shifts, and Thallia snoring upstairs.
The quiet suited Deputy Headmistress Lylan'Synor just fine.
Training alone in her own zone; Sharpening the deadly ballet of her blade-work, while clearing her thoughts from another day in These Troubled Times.
Her tempo was interrupted, by an unexpected but prayed-upon visitor, wearing a matching fancy hat bought together.
Her half-sister Adrie, Squire of the Radiant Heart. Exchanging some words and some hugs, and an update on the family.
Under the banners of absent gods worshipped by each woman's commander, the two spoke of their paths in the trying times ahead.
Concluded be settled properly upon the morrow, Lylan'Synor agreed to train her little sister Adrie in fencing and dance.

During the several days of Lucretia's absence, her raven familiar remained in the Bladestone's premises and became increasingly agitated. Quite often, he'd decide to swoop out into the madness of the Coast. If he could not find an exit, he'd stubbornly squawk by a door or window until it was opened to facilitate his departure. After a couple hours, he would return, even more high-strung than before. And empty-handed (or empty-beaked.) There were minor acts of destruction wrought by distressed avian companion, such as divebombing at drinks to spill them, and pulling headpieces from hair to fling them at the ground. One pillow was shredded by the raven in an explosion of white down feathers.

Any attempt to communicate with the bird by ranger, druid, or telepathy, made the source of Reginald's anxiety apparent: he had no idea where his master was, and could not link with or locate her like usual, fearing her dead, or worse.

The all-encompassing shriek tore Adrian from his sleep. Honed and refined reflexes brought him from restful sleep to wide awake and alert in the span of two heartbeats. One he was fully asleep, the next he had thrown off the duvet covering him, and kipped up and out of bed to land in a ready crouch. Golden eyes darting all around, while ears strained to other sounds in the darkness.

With no immediate danger presenting itself in his room, he quickly donned his Bladestone uniform, though only the tunic part. His two favourite kukris — The Blacksouls — recovered with haste, and strapped to his waist. Thus armed and clothed, he ran out of his room. The sound of naked flesh slapping against wooden boards echoed behind him as bare feet carried him from room to room upstairs. The first room checked was the one he knew Lylan and Niyressa to occupy. Eventually, with each room checked and secured, he stepped down into the tavern proper.

From there it was only a few steps to reach the outside, and join others in staring up at the night-time skies. A curse muttered under his breath was carried away on a gust of wind, punctuated by a clenched jaw and grinding teeth, while fingers gripped his kukris so tightly the knuckles turned white, and the short hilts creaked under the strain. The devastation wrought on his colleagues and friends with magical aptitude, showing clearly in their expressions — or lack thereof — finally brought him out of his stupor.

With tears rolling down his cheeks, he headed back inside, and began barking out orders to the staff and guards present there.

"Mystra is no more!"
"We have friends, family, and colleagues who depend on us in this time of upheaval. We will not fail them."

"Wake everyone not with arcane talent. Take a moment together to come to terms with what has just happened. But I want you all on your feet, ready to aid those most affected by Mystra's passing."

"Set to it!"

Orders given, he sheathed his kukris, and stepped into the kitchen. Whatever the staff at hand needed from him, he'd provide — starting with something as basic as tea to help calm troubled souls and hearts.

Throughout the night, and well into morning, Adrian could be found helping staff do their utmost best to offer whatever meagre aid their could. Fully knowing that nothing he did would ever heal this particular wound.

Exhausted, and having had barely any time to himself, Adrian finally crawled into bed to sleep. It was only a few hours, however, before he made his appearance again. Eyes bloodshot from a mixture of sleep-deprivation and crying, he none-the-less set to work with helping wherever he could.

Deputy Headmistress Lylan'Synor was on her way back from the Sharp Tooth forest when the sudden scream nearly got the Elf to falling down from her horse, as the mare herself was spooked by the sudden scream reverberating through Toril.
Takes control of the reigns again, and press her mare into a full gallop back to the Bladestone Foundation.
The wailing of the mages and priests who were around the Friendly Arms Inn came clarified the situation. A disharmonic cacophony of scared individuals, on their lips the same underlying earth-shattering sermon:
"Mystra Is Dead!"
Not slowing her pace when as her eyes widen in horror but squint again, determined. Pressing her horse ever faster, with a single name on her lips.
...
Reaching the Warrior's Rest, seeing Derik inside.
"She's up there, safe." Was his answer to the worried sun elf. The door leading upstairs slammed open as the stairs were taken four at a time, rushing to check on Niyressa herself.
With a heavy heart, Lylan would comes back down some time later. Pushing tears down her throat, Deputy Headmistress Lylan'Synor puts on her game face. To focus on the tasks at hand.

Passing Adrian at his own work, Lylan will put a hand on the Administrator's shoulder, along with a sharp nod. "On it."
Turning to Headmaster Derik while he organizes the search party for the unaccounted for Bladestones.
"I'll join you half way, cover more ground. Then go to the city, check the temple of Mystra. They must have been hit the hardest.. and she, will need all the answers she can get."
Taking a few guards with her along with her student Tsukumo Kaga, to form a second search party that concludes by the lighthouse.
The Guards return to the compound, while the Deputy Headmistress and her student will take a boat to the city...

For the last several days, especially since the Death of Magic's scream, Derik has been seen more away from the Foundation than at it...

Because the vast majority of his time is spent going over the patrol routes and expanses of No Man's Land looking for the guards and staff that have not been seen in some time, some since the scream, others since the very first meteor shower.

When he sleeps is anyone's guess.

A new notice is pinned at a few well visible spaces around the inn:
With the seemingly ever increasing persecution of mages and recent news from Amn. Warrior's Rest and Bladestone foundation would like to reiterate that we are still happy to welcome and provide safe haven for any mages moving within the area. With that in mind however, and with the ongoing situation, we would like to make known a few rules, implemented for everyone's safety:

- All offensive magic is, until further notice, prohibited.
- All conjuration magic is, until further notice, prohibited.
- All defensive and beneficial magic should, until further notice, be only used when necessary to protect one self and other's from harm or loss of life.
- All of the above applies to not only spellcasters, but also magical items, including wands, scrolls, potions and trinkets.
- All of the above applies to both patrons and employees of Warrior's Rest / Bladestone Foundation, whenever they are present within the compound or it's immediate environs, however we recommend adhering to these rules in general.

Please know that these rules are not a sign of any sort of bitterness towards magic or magic users, but are implemented simply out of a safety concern, due to the unstable and chaotic way magic works at the moment.

Let it be known effective immediately members of the Green Enclave are now banned from entering any Foundation compound unescorted by senior staff. The exceptions to this are the Gensai known as Teris Ynarno and the elf Natariel.

This is in response to multiple threats of violence in various forms against Foundation personnel and property due to the Foundation's plan to build a small outpost consisting of a small dock with two small outbuildings nearby. The purpose of this outpost is to encourage local trade and economy as well as easy of travel for those of the community.

As the Enclave does not wish to assist the Foundation in making sure the planning and implementation of this project affects the local environment as little as possible, a goal the Foundation holds in high priority, the Foundation shall seek consultation from other druidic sources.

A contingent of men and women wearing the livery of Beregost are seen arriving at the Bladestone Foundation and Warrior's Rest. They look equipped for a fairly long stay as the portion of Beregost Militia begin a regimen of both individual and unit training with the instructors at the Bladestone.

((OOC, DM approved, a portion of the Beregost militia taking training at the Bladestone for a month's time 3 times/year))
