A further tale seeps from the fields of the Dead that cultists have been searching for a runaway fearful that he had been recording information in a diary that he ought not to have. They seem not to have found him to date.

A cargo or two of cheese has rolled off course and this has raised the price of Elturian Grey around the City of Baldur's Gate. It would seem an opportune time to find some. Indeed some river boat traders have already offered premium prices.

Things have been a little tense around the Docks of Baldur's Gate, with traders employing extra security to keep cargoes where they should be. Elsewhere in the city at the market it is rumoured two customers fell foul of food poisoning. It seems a good time to be in the security business they say.

A cleric of Eldath from the hamlet of Hom on the Chionthar went missing recently and it is feared she fell foul of recent Troll raids though no one has had the lack of wisdom to suggest she had smelly feet.

A brewing scuffle at the gates of the Friendly Arm Inn between members of the Whitewood Vanguard and the Zhentarim was broken up by Bentley's guards. Members of the Whitewood Vanguard have been banned from the Friendly Arm Inn for one week.

Rumor's spread of a great fire that burned stronger than normal flames do even alit by the most potent fuels. The fire was rumored to have begun from the blood of a dwarven waraxe, setting the nearby forest ablaze. The fire was contained by the combined efforts of many adventurers, particularly members of the Elder Circle. Minimal effort was made to save any of the orcs. Those that tried were busy holding back the flames with their powers. Most onlookers chose not to act. Many were seen fleeing and dying choking on the smoke. Orcs warriors, crafters, mothers and children alike. As they perished in the vengeful flames.. A phantasmal image of a Balor seemed to reform in the smoke and step through a portal, seeming somewhat fueled by all the death and destruction. Several adventurers were seen leaving with a half-orc refugee child

It is rumoured that adventurers recently broke into a tomb located in the Fields of the Dead. They are reputed to have uncovered a rare yellow gem related to Dragons.

Trade in Elturian grey cheese has returned to normal levels bringing prices in line with last year norms. Merchants looking for the next big thing have been drawn to bagging existing stores of blackberries. Three hamlets along the banks of the Chionthar renowned for supply are currently suffering from some widespread local pox. The serving Cleric already gone missing at the hands or feet of Troll raids it seems.

Baldur's Gate docks have been the scene of much activity. After some recent fights there security has brought that place to a relative order and some spring cleaning has taken place with a view to enticing more city dwellers.

None of this deterred a thief from making his mark in the east Gate before departing north with his loot, said to be a sizeable quantity of magic. Gossip lead to rumour led to a small party of adventurers hiking north under the leadership of Rain. Following scant clues they ended up in the Serpent hills. Reports have it the thief fell at the hands of a Dragon and some of his loot was recovered.

Diamonds you say - well let me tell you. A single blue was recovered in the Titanfist mines by an astute adventurer following some left over riddles. Three other sparklers were hidden by a foul Druid in the Cloakwood - though adventurers were seen nearby it is unclear what befell the diamonds.

Merchants at Baldur's Gate have been paying premium prices for quantities of blackberries. Normal supplies of these delicacies are unlikely to recover any time soon as five hamlets along the banks of the Chionthar renowned for supply are currently suffering badly from some widespread local pox. The serving Cleric already gone missing at the hands or feet of Troll raids it seems.

They say Winding Waters is marking the success there against the Devil with renewed building and general prosperity. A renowned house designer from Baldur's Gate, a Gnome by the name of Hillhouse Tallback has joined the team on a prestigious new build in town.

A rumour persists a famous fey is wandering the coast once again spreading more rumours of far flung opportunities.

The days of Baldur's Gate merchants paying premium prices for quantities of blackberries are over as some enterprising Guild obtained some overseas supplies bringing market prices down to normal . Normal supplies of these delicacies are on the mend as five hamlets along the banks of the Chionthar renowned for supply are currently suffering badly from some widespread local pox, were assisted by a recent hunters charity event to raise funds for assistance there.

This in turn diverted rabbit hunting and there is a shortage of rabbit meat along the coast and some merchants are paying premium prices.

Word finally begins to trickle in to the Sword Coast, reaching Candlekeep and other centers of scholarship, of strange findings from those sages who watch the stars and study the planes. Reportedly, an unusual phenomenon occurred some two months back, a "cosmic hiccup" as described by the tale-tellers. Perhaps due to some strange alignment of the stars or other unknown reason, for a very brief window of time the boundaries between the planes grew unusually thin, allowing for considerably easier passage between realms. This has reportedly resulted in all manner of bizarre occurrences across Faerun, with each tale getting taller than the last. Some are comical, even whimsical, such as an invasion of faeries from one of the celestial realms erupting from a sewer grate in a far-away city in the Moonsea, to considerably darker tales of eldritch evils menacing people across the Prime Material.

Baldurs Gate merchants are still seeking rabbit stew supplies after the Hunters Ball charity event diverted their focus. One local adventuring author is thought to have received some tasty offers for a quantity of rabbit he acquired. Word has it hunters are slowly returning to work. Their charity was directed to the pox along the Chionthar which has spread against the odds towards the farmlands outside Baldurs Gate and from a merchant perspective likely to impact corn products. A number of reasons have been put forward for it's continued spread and Trolls, Drow, Werewolves, Druids, Sirenes and the tax collector were all named. It seems locally at the source two Druids that once served the community have been absent, as Druids do, and may have hindered an early solution.

The matter was even raised at the Palace where nobles were asked to consider the poor farmer with charity work, supplies and direct action. Though the noble response was uncertain it is rumoured they are floundering a little in a sea of over indulgence among their youngsters of Upperdark plant products. It is said to have reduced noble output, such as it was.

Elsewhere between Nashkel and Beregost, a falling out among thieves has produced two new gangs striking fear into the poor traveller the wildly offensive Talak the terrible and the slightly more insidious Grimback the Grime are both bringing their talents to shaking down the population. It is said they do not cooperate at all but are a growing pain in the proverbial.

They say Winding Waters is marking the success there against the Devil with renewed building and general prosperity. Work progresses in the town but where it will end remains uncertain.

Over the next few days a dark omen was observed along the Sword Coast, concentrated in particular near the small village of Ulgoth's Beard, in the form of many dead fish and other aquatic life washing ashore. They all appeared to have fallen victim to some form of poisoning, their bodies in advanced stages of decomposition from what looked to be a terrible wasting blight. Naturally this is of great concern to any of the countless men and women who make their living along the Coast as mariners and fishermen.

The pox along the Chionthar which has spread against the odds towards the farmlands outside Baldurs Gate has been dealt a telling blow by a merchant house, City Merchants, now the new darling of the Dukes ahead of many other houses. They invested in healing, distant produce and financing healing the farmers. Those who follow the City gossip suggest this places them well above their Guild rivals who have been accused of floundering in Upperdark herbs along with many of the noble class.

Merchant needs briefly return to a certain normality.

A noble fled into the sewers the worse for herbs and rumours of Undead, prophecies, and Drow followed in his wake. He was recovered by a group of adventurers, which raised questions about the failing performance of many noble house leadership, and association with Undead.

Elsewhere between Nashkel and Beregost, a falling out among thieves has produced two new gangs striking fear into the poor traveller the wildly offensive Talak the terrible and the slightly more insidious Grimback the Grime who have been busy growing their gangs moving north to avoid Druids busy in the hills of Nashkel, and relentless groups of rich adventurers working the Wyverns.

An expedition into the Old Silver Mine at Trollclaws revealed the place is as dangerous as ever and hides routes deeper into the ground that are not see easy to access.

A rumour persists a famous fey is wandering the coast once again spreading more rumours of far flung opportunities, it is said he delivered a bunch of words to a group along the Tradeway, quite what he had to say of the Coast was between him and that group for now. but they say there was talk of riches beyond your wildest dreams.

Around the campfire...

The usual tales of devils, witches and ghostly apparitions can be heard in any tavern or around any campfire of huddled commoners. The more experienced listeners amused by the inaccuracies and twists on more famous tales. Recent weeks have seen an increase in the telling of the Tale of the Mourning Widow, this time altered to include phantasmal pursuers of the tale's namesake. Other more recent stories of ghostly figures in lonely and distant locales and the discussions of adventurers may have helped to evolve the old tale into something new.

Rumours spread that a group of adventurers returned with a deceased farmer's wife from Baldurs Gate, as well as a deceased warrior of Doron Amar, they were returned with respect to their homes for their families to greave. But also the tale of the recklessness of the adventurers choices, that led to their possibly unneeded deaths. The Bear Warrior Vik Dunhayev, they say, is responsible for what happened, due to a reckless attack on the one who captured these innocent byastanders.

The savage lands to the east of Baldur's Gate are not called 'one of the last frontiers in Faerun' for nothing. This unclaimed, uncivilized wilderness to the east has laid claim to more than it's fair share of sad catastrophes over the years, and witnessed many the seasoned warrior's sudden ending. Most usually the local monsters are to blame for such atrocities, and all who pass through here know that one must be well prepared and ever-watchful, lest they too meet their untimely demise.

Today's travelers were by no means strangers to danger, and yet they too were soon to find themselves falling victim to the land's savagery.

Traveling on the eastern rim of the dense woods of the Forest of Wyrms, on route to Evereska, a band of elite elven rangers, about twenty in number, walked along a well-worn cattle track by a grass field, with a dangerous - well-secured- necromancer in their midst. They had been tasked with escorting this woman to face trial in their homeland of Evereska, and had so far been on the road for a couple of days. They were making good progress - The wind had favorably been at their backs, and they estimated that they should reach the valley of their fortress home earlier than they'd originally anticipated.

The necromancer woman was in the middle of the company, flanked by guards, who in turn were well defended by well-armed soldiers. Two scouts lead the way, ensuring that the path was clear, as the entourage moved their way forward along the track. The forest was visible in the distance off to the west, and low, grassy hills spread out for as far as they eye could see in every other direction. The scouts good eyes could see that no one other than themselves was around for miles.

This peace was not to last, however. The company slowed as one of the scouts stopped. He was looking intently towards the woods to the west. Shielding his eyes from the sun, he pointed out to the other scout toward what he thought was a bird flying from the woods towards them. As the seconds passed, however, both scouts realized that this 'bird' was moving far too fast, and was far too large, to be any regular bird. Realizing what was happening, the scouts yelled a warning back to their companions, who were quick to move into defensive positions around their prisoner and ready their bows.

The dragon was upon them in a second. In a vicious attack, it dove forward, scattering the ranks of elves, its teeth and claws splintering bows and knocking shields and swords aside as it flew forward and circled around for another strike. The monstrous reptile was huge; it's green scales glistening in the sunlight, its eyes shining with frenzied bloodlust, the elves could do little to mount a resistance as it charged through their ranks again, this time using its gigantic hulk to crush several unfortunate victims where they stood, while others found their doom from its lashing tail and sharp teeth.

Despite this, the seasoned warriors were not ones to break ranks and flee. Refusing to abandon their comrades, the remaining elves regathered their ranks, cast aside their bows and drawing their sharp swords leapt upon the dragon, some distracting the beast while others sought to strike decisive blows. Their efforts proved to be successful, as the green dragon was soon mortally wounded by their attacks. It kept on coming at them with relentless fury, however, slaying them where they stood. In a heroic effort, one of the rangers threw himself in a last-ditch effort at the dragon, aiming the tip of his sword directly into the roof of the dragon's gigantic jaws. With a last agonized roar from the dragon, the sword striked true, diving into its skull and instantly killing it. The dragon's body slumped to the ground. The injured swordsman collapsed alongside it.

Looking around, he saw that his party wast lost. The necromancer, whom he had seen fighting the dragon, looked like she was also dead. With no more energy left to spend, the surviving elven ranger passed out.

Several days later, a lone elven ranger would walk into Evereska and make a report. It would describe how as far as he knew, his entire company, save for himself, had been slain by the green dragon - the necromancer was dead, and their escort mission had been a failure.

Around the campfire...

It seems the tales of ghosts are enough to cause some disruption on the normal ferry routes further in land. Stories and sighting along the Chionthar river have kept most crews from arriving at night. No real disruption though just a slight change of arrival times, although a few merchants and traders were caught out by the change.

Unfortunately a few guards let slip that a ghost they've dubbed the Mourning Bride is sighted often by new recruits along the main bridge. Accidentally furthering the story and rumours. Although when approached they have said it is little more than a rumour among the new arrivals started to keep them on their toes. Well that's what the official word anyway.

Rumour has it the Radiant Heart, headed by Sir Sean suffered an embarrassing defeat outside Soubar at the hands of the known vampire Layla Nightgale after a brazen attack on her person.

Rumour has it Nathan Goldenmane, leading a group composed of House Darius, House Vale, and Radiant Heart, stuck a victory in crushing a nest of vampires within the well in the farmlands.

Rumour has it an elven woman named Adrie managed to parlay, to an extent, with the vampire Layla Nightgale, which lessened the amount of violence that came from Sir Sean’s defeat.

Rumour has it, the thieves guild footpads, cleared a section of sewer of straggling vampires. It seems they were armed with silver daggers. Perhaps the thieves have begun to become heroes.

Rumour has it that the known vampire Layla Nightgale, defended several homes in the farmlands from vampire rival attacks, saving the lives and property of the farmers that lived within.
