New Arrivals and Old Hands
Some unusual people have been active around the coast, nothing new there.

Imported arcanists, professional mercenaries, famed duellists and a number of nobles have been filtering into the coast over the past two tenday. Some have taken on obscure and rather boring seeming tasks while others have actively been organising delves for rather unusual items and rare antiquities. At least one such delve has ended in unexpected darkness being released, with a section of Cloakwood being temporarily infused with negative energy and a stampede of undead horses.
Vile things are afoot in the realm.

The Flaming Fist March

Two companies with several support elements depart the city under the cover of darkness. The soldiers, in normal fashion, show a wide range of emotions that hint at a coming conflict. The infamous Captain Norton marches with them, clearly in command.

((He will remain in his spot IG to facilitate his quest, but for this story he is out and about. ))

Coast Chronicles as retold by Nus the Bard.

News from Triel, the recent stability there has led to increased trade in the vicinity. Some enterprising traders who count Rocky Creek among their number have launched trading expeditions to explore new routes. Overland both opportunity and problems have been discovered. The river and sea routes have yet to see Land Ho and all that. But it is anticipated a similar picture lies there, some opportunity, but an absolutely deadly and dangerous cave world is hinted at.

This trade theme was taken up elsewhere by the House of Cards who recently returned sporting the latest in fashion clothing as provided by House Divine and delivering luxury foods and linen to the market.

There are rumours circulating one of the relics known as the gifts of the Gods has been recovered. Further rumour suggests these items were completed in the Polvich Cauldron and the one item he was interested in, the Mirror of Polvich has finally been returned to his care. Two Gifts, and a number of outstanding relics and ancient treasures remain the subject of rumour but nothing more. The more immediate dangers of the Coast have left them hidden while sensible souls worry on Cloakwood, Demons, curses, and of course far off tournaments!

Just another week on the coast.

OOC
Land Ho (a new area) an undefined shoreline or series of islands ideal for traders seeking an alternative expedition to caves. With trade in mind there is some adventuring to hand and a profit to be made. However if exploring then a terrible caution though for the caves to be found are not for the trader or the feint hearted, dangers worthy of the the most powerful or very strong allies lurk below. The caves are aimed for those seeking a challenge and is beyond even one or two normal best of the best.

This area is available for groups setting off by sea or river, (mechanically from BG Harbour) on a player driven event, but the details of the journey are left to the expedition. RP required and a certain decorum if another group is met during trip for of course they may be RP they are at another place. Remaining silent on location when meeting , or passing by, may be the RP of choice.

Coast Chronicles as retold by Nus the Bard.

This trade theme was taken up elsewhere by the Deck of Cards Sea Trade Investment House preparing their now active Summer season. Their agents were seen in discussion with the ambitious House Divine.

an advertisement has been seen posted around BG
WANTED - The World's greatest detective!

Interested and talented applicants need only apply

signed 5 artistically crafted wands and a magical blue cape.
Elsewhere rumours abound of fashion and art as the focus of attention up and down the Coast. Secrets locked in fashion art and lore with a view to unlocked fickle secrets.

Just another week on the coast.

*The last few weeks have seen a military buildup in the fort, defenses have been vastly improved with a palisade wall going up and semi permanent facilities being raised. The soldiers present are clearly on a wartime footing and always armed and armored when awake. Few patrols have gone out, but the Green Enclave scouts have been freely interacting with The Flaming Fist officers and scouts. Clearly they are planning and gathering information on what’s been happening in the forest.

The soldiers have also been drilling daily, preparing for small engagement and practicing a curious melding of swords and pole arms. Clearly not a ‘normal’ tactic, but one the sergeants are drilling day and night under a variety of conditions.*

Cloakwood may dominate the market this winter declared Deck of Cards, that sea faring investment hub at Baldur's Gate. Part of the House of Cards trading cartel, this institution laid out it's winter predictions and invited investment. They expect luxury goods to be the centre of winter trading, and coastal runs the conservative way to go avoiding the high risk storm strategy of longer sailings. Cutting the Tradeway may be an ill wind but one that would undoubtedly change winter markets, and it appears thenj that at least one body of thinking is predicting Cloakwood will be resolved. A spokeswoman reminded interested parties it is not too late to get involved with winter investments.

A new ship is being built at BG Docks. Two other vessels are in for winter overhauls.

Currently only the fashion Guild, House Divine has taken advantage.

Other sole traders like Chionthar Charter & Seaward Supply, have taken advantage of this sea of change, operating on their own, chasing early sales along the coast with new goods, and mixed fortunes, deciding not to embrace the protection of the cartel.

In other news An alliance of Guilds gathered to explore some magical prophecy or other. They returned to Candlekeep smugly satisfied about some element of success apparently.

A patrol of troops once stationed at Cloakwood triumphantly returned to the City of Baldur's Gate leaving only a reduced company at Cloakwood fort.

Word spreads around ambushes carried upon less protected caravans and Wrath of Malar unleashed on smaller hamlets and villages. Some survivors claim reasoning to be nothing but vagrantry, others name animalistic savagery, and a few voices whisper of a curse spreading across the land.

While some merchants choose to limit their shipping, others seek extra protection for their wares and try to change routes their cargo travels. With attacks happening seemingly at random between Nashkel and Soubar, it may prove to be difficult to track down the camp of the Malarites.

Some attacks repelled, few allowed to commence uninterrupted. Canine forces are moving further south. With each skirmish it becomes more clear that the werewolves aren't interested in distrupting trade or destroying hamlets and villages. They seek to spread the curse of lycanthropy.

A rumour canters along the coast often embellished with each telling. A group of five adventurers deep in the Upperdark broke into the lair of Polvich the Lich. Opposed by a small group of loyal cultists and many undead they drove forward towards the inner sanctum. There in an epic battle they destroyed Polvich. Though some gaseous like essence escaped from the fight, searching for his phylactery it is assumed. The five made a thorough search of the lair and surrounding area finding neither the Polvich phylactery or the missing mirror Polvich was rumoured to have. Time will tell if this is the last the coast has to endure that name that has conjured thoughts of dispair, distrust, dislike and a certain distain among some quarters at the very thought of Polvich the lich.

Many swore to have seen in the night sky, an elf with silver wings and a bronze dragon, both glinting brilliantly in the light of the moon, flying above the Trade Way and city of Baldur's Gate, heading north. Elves in the city could be seen glancing up at them, praising Angharradh.

After suffering heavy casualties the werewolves move further north. Diligent hunters could spot tracks leading to High Moor, where the trail disappears.

Open to all intrigue series. First event...

Starting now, a no DM required clue gathering game leading to a short event. First up, and when sparty the npc is placed at stage outside BG Farmlands Gate.

An offer is made and those interested in intrigue must decide how they heard the offer currently circulating around the coast - but the offer is this:

A trader Alwyn Almeer once of the SCCE at BG has long since moved on to grander things trading in silk from Amn currently. He is expected on the coast this week or so and is expected to establish a price from a preferred buyer for Sefar Silk.

Boryin Bagaj another merchant is offering 40 bags for anyone who can bring details of the highest price Alwyn offers to pay Sword Coast merchants for this silk per bale, and also the merchant who offers that price.

Bagaj expects the two to meet somewhere on the coast sometime soon.

Clues are in game and will appear in game this week when sparty npc stands on the stage. Enough information is obtainable in more than one way to complete the tasks.

Partial success will earn partial fee.

Boryin Bagaj paces the merchants quarter his task unresolved he worries that those often who denounce gold grinding the coast and not being of the multi millionaire class of the coast are absent. Perhaps out exercising their right to freedom, collars unleashed, to explore other aspects of their respective journeys.

He raises his offer to 50 bags, a Sword Coast capitalist at heart he hopes system swimmers will be driven off and trusts potential newcomers seeking to avoid mindless grinding in some actually marvellous dungeons and dark places around the coast may take up his task.

He stands ready in some gesture of inclusivity to reward any and all, individuals, groups of sharing individuals, or even the dread Guilds and all their ills themselves.

He fears not the plans of his rivals to shortcut his ambitions and to discuss the matter away from the coast safe in their respective hidden huts. For the task is here on the coast and against the waning sun. Many may moan but none may succeed that do not tred the walk. Foe he or she that talks the loudest often forgets to move.

He looks forward to paying for trial and tribulation of the shared story and yet here he stands his questions unanswered and his task unfulfilled. Has the coast become so isolated and rich he wonders at this former outpost of it's former self.

He moves on continuing his search, the truth is out there. He sets a new course.

When sparty the npc is placed at stage outside BG Farmlands Gate. (clues will be in game.)

Clues are in game and will appear in game this week when sparty npc stands on the stage in the farmlands Gate as an ooc indicator. Enough information is obtainable in more than one way to complete the tasks.

Partial success will earn partial fee. If in doubt contact DM Spartacus

IC
Boryin Bagaj moves furtively through the City concerned at some recent turn of events at the Docks it seems that some trouble brews between Umberlee and Candlekeep, perhaps he reflects this is keeping citizens wary of turning a profit in the usual fashion of trading information. He considers and then lets his people know to let other people know that 60 bags will be his final offer. For in fact if people have so much gold they need not work for it then he will change his trade and start stealing from people! His minder nods with a wise expression in answer to his monologue.
