Rumors in Nashkel indicate the arrival of a handful of cowled wizards. They are said to have taken up room and board in the mayors mansion.

In other regional news. Tax collectors arriving from the capital in the weeks following the Beregost fair seem to express a more amicable tone as they visit Nashkel and especially Beregost, which has been seen in Athkalta as little more than a major gold sink since the end of the Amn-Gate war.

Two famous mountaineers are rumored by a gossipy and excited dwarf to have passed through Beregost heading south to climb one of the unnamed and unclimbed peaks in the Cloud Peak range. The dwarf mentions that the climbers are looking to hire porters and guards for their expedition into the mountains. The dwarf man is said to poach travelers with this gossip near the smith in Beregost, talking long beyond the passerby's interest in the to pic.

The famous Dwarven mountaineer duo of the Faerunian Mountaineering Society, Dorbur Overmountain and Aselil Strongspike‏, together climbing over a hundred of some of the highest peaks in Toril, were spotted by many passer by in Nashkel the other day, recruiting local aide for their next summit and readying equipment and supplies for the trek and climb ahead. Denizens of the local town as well as passing adventurers are rumored to have come to see what the commotion was about and soon a crowd accumulated around the mountaineers.

Some may have heard that the mountaineers then engaged the crowd in a thorough question and answer session about their past climbing history, their religious beliefs, their philosophy of climbing, their needs for a local knowledgeable mountain guide, religious blessings, and permits, their needs for the current climb to be, and their motivation to climb the highest unnamed and untamed peak in the Cloud Peak Mountains. After a while, many a question was answered and it is rumored that the mountaineers may have gained some leads to recruit local adventurers as porters and guards for their journey ahead, with prestige, immense natural beauty, spiritual fulfillment, and honorary membership in the Faerunian Mountaineering Society as possible rewards. The mountaineers are then said to go back to preparing their equipment and later are possibly seen by some heading back to their room at the Northern Lights Inn.

((If you want to IC speak to the climbers about the rumors, please leave a letter IC for them at the Northern Lights Inn via a PM after RPing asking someone in Nashkel where they are staying..))

Rumors spread that a public execution took place of a convicted tax embezzler named Pete in Beregost, Pete convicted of stealing millions of pieces of gold from Amnian government coffers. It is said that a woman cried out for mercy to be shown for Pete, but the calls were ignored. Upon Pete's beheading by an Amnian soldier's blade, an arcanist attempted to teleport herself and Pete away to safety for reasons unknown, but cast the spell too late and instead just teleported the man's headless body away with her as Pete's head fell to the floor of the execution stand. The arcanist involved was said to be searched for by the Amnian authorities for crimes against Amn, with a physical description of her handed out to the local Amnian garrison. Some may also hear rumors that the Amnian military officer in charge of the execution asked some of the crowd gathered to aid him in tracking down another Amnian tax embezzler that owned property in Beregost. Some of those present agreed and went off into the town to begin their search. Talk spreads in Northern Amn that perhaps this is part of the beginning of an anti-corruption purge by local officials.

After posting new written laws of Amn in Beregost and Nashkel, two Amnian magistrates may have been seen answering what they considered to be some good, some foolish, and some just outright inane questions by local adventurers about the newly posted laws next to the stockades in Beregost. After the questions were exhausted, the Amnian magistrates and their soldier troop headed back south to Athkatla, cursing having to have spent any time in the barbaric north among what they termed northern mongrels.

Some may have seen the expedition of two famed dwarf mountaineers leaving Nashkel with a group of porters and guards and two climbing guides, a gnome and an Aurilite priestess. Rumor has it that the group set out for a nameless and unclimbed peak to the southwest of Nashkel in the Cloud Peak Mountains. Others may have seen the group return days later with two dwarf bodies in tow, apparently raised by the same Aurilite priestess, who then may have been seen heading back to her home in the slopes south of Nashkel. One of the dwarves remaining behind with the porters and guards, the dwarf woman may have been seen giving out badges marked "Faerunian Mountaineering Society" to the group as well as paying them before they parted ways. Rumor spreads that although the mountain may not have been successfully climbed, it was given the name Auril's Crown, in honor of the Frostmaiden that is one reason why the peak is so difficult to attempt.

Rumor spreads that three individuals, two of Lathander and one of Tyr, met with The Most Radiant of Lathander Kelddath Ormlyr in Beregost yesterday in The Song of the Morning and then soon after went to meet with Sheriff de Oca of Beregost. Some may have overheard that Sheriff de Oca asked the three to volunteer to assist him with a local corruption investigation. The three then returned to the local temple of Lathander and after possibly deliberating for a while, returned to the Sheriff's office, allegedly agreeing to assist him in a private capacity as volunteer investigators, with no independent authority and with no formal cooperation of the church of Lathander.

Rumors may say that three visitors from the north were seen arriving in Athkatla by caravan. When they arrived, they may have been seen passing by the famous Waukeen's Promenade and then The Mithrest Inn, at some point making their way, likely on different days, to the massive and opulent Vymmar landowning and textiles manufacturing-family estate and the extravagant and sprawling Coprith bank owning-family estate, both close to the Government District of Athkatla. Some may have later seen these visitors making their way to the docks and leaving on a ship bound for Baldur's Gate. One of these three may have been seen assisting a badly beaten woman thrown into the gutter outside of the Vymmar estate.

Some may have seen a man help an injured woman to the rosetinted, glassed dome The Dome of the Rose temple of Lathander in Athkatla. Afterward, others may have seen the same man walk to the fortress-like High Hall of the Order of the Radiant Heart in Athkatla, speak to a paladin guard outside of its large doored entrance upon arriving, and then enter the building with the said paladin guard. Some time later, the man is seen leaving the High Hall.

A few days later, rumor spreads in Athkatla that a charge of assault has been filed by an Amnian magistrate against the powerful and exorbitantly wealthy Amnian landowner Lord Orgost Vymmar, claiming that he brutally assaulted a tenant of his property that owed him late rent. At an initial hearing, the charge is not dismissed and a judgement for or against the guilt of Lord Vymmar may be forthcoming in the next tenday. Some say that those who saw Lord Vymmar appear at the initial court proceeding saw the face of a man utterly livid at the whole affair, although he did not speak beyond formalities, his lawyer otherwise speaking for him. Many gossip in Athkatla taverns in shock that the charge was even filed against such a powerful Amnian, let alone that it was not immediately dismissed after a well placed bribe of the magistrate by the Lord Vymmar or others under his patronage. There is chatter here and there in the city that the Lord "...kobold had it coming, the way it is rumored he treats folks he thinks are beneath him, even if they be of Silver or lesser rank," while others notion "why care, the Silver lady he beat deserved it, an Amnian should always pay their debts on time, especially to a noble businessman of Mithril standing!"

A few days later still, rumor ignites Athkatla that Lord Orgost Vymmar has had judgement passed against him by an Amnian magistrate and a large sum is paid from him in punishment to the victim of his assault, with some rumored involvement of the Order of the Radiant Heart. The city gossips extensively on the outcome and Amnian military and law enforcement increase patrols in certain areas over possible concerns over civil unrest as a result of the entire legal affair, but this extra paranoia and security soon subsides and the city returns to normal.

Beregost

The people of Beregost are at unease after rumours of drow being brought inside the town by Lathanderites and lead into the prison in the town barracks spread around.

Not long afterwards, a group of masked people tried to fight their way to the prison cells. They were unsuccessful and those killed were put on display as a warning to everyone else with ill intent.

The following day, the bodies are all gone and the night patrol speaks of yet another attack. Some people managed to cut down the bodies off the dead and make off with them.

During the actions throughout the day and night, several guards and Cowled Wizards were killed and the barracks is buzzing with activity. The Song of the Morning Temple is busy as well, tending to the dead and holding memorial services.

Rumors travel from Beregost of more soldiers holding up in Beregost. No one is certain how long they will stay. Some say its to fight the tax corruption being experienced in Beregost. Others say its in response to the brazen attack by the Dead Crows earlier this tenday.

Some may hear of a call for inexpensive adventurers by Amnian authorities in Beregost and then see or hear of an Amnian wagon caravan leaving Beregost with a few Amnian and adventurer escorts, arriving in Nashkel a while later.

Beregost 1351 Campaign Thread

DM Dialectic wrote:Rumor spreads that the economist and tax collector Antolina Burgoz was brazenly attacked at her public lecture in Beregost yesterday. It is unclear in rumor what her condition actually is after being attacked, although many seem to gossip that she is still alive. It is also rumored that an alleged assassin that attacked Burgoz was killed and that the assassin's body is being held in the Beregost Barracks and also that a man was briefly detained after the attack, but then released after being questioned by the Amnian authorities. Gossip is spoken throughout Beregost that at least temporarily guards are visibly posted throughout the town in greater number.

Word spreads that Governess Benino issued public statements today condemning the violence, giving her sincere and heartfelt condolences to Burgoz and her family, and having the Council of Six appoint a replacement for the tax districts that Burgoz oversaw as an Amnian tax collector if necessary.

Arrests at the Temple of the Morninglord

As the sun sets and a cold rain falls upon Beregost, the town sheriff and several guards are seen approaching the Temple of Lathander. They encounter several Lathanderites and their guests as they are leaving the temple following a meeting. Rumors begin to spread around the township that the Amnian Authorities arrested the Lathanderite Eldarian Al'maire, and took him to the town hall. They say he surrendered without incident, though there may have been some altercations inside the town hall that night.

As dawn rises over the town, a small crowd is already gathered outside town hall. Please can be heard near the front of the crowd questioning why the guard would contend with the town's beloved divine protectors. Near the rear of the gathering, a few anti-Amnian slur's can be picked up over the chatter of the bewildered and anxious crowd.

DM Dialectic wrote:After some time, and as the vigil for his release grows in size, a man is thrown from a black carriage moving at high speed past the Song of the Morning temple. The man has a black bag over his head and is bound. After his binds are cut and the bag removed, it is made clear that the man is the now released Lathanderite Eldarian Al'maire. Surprising much of the crowd, Eldarian says some words of loyalty to Amn instead of anger against it and seems to appear mostly unharmed and in good condition after his detention. Some of the locals gathered then seem to praise Amn for its mercy in releasing Eldarian despite his rumored crime of sedition against Amn. Others locals frown at the prospect of Amn being anything but foul in its rule in Beregost. A long political argument ensues among the locals gathered as Eldarian goes back into the Song of the Morning temple.
