A well known knight is seen fleeing from Triel, being badly beaten, and nearly dead. Several see him traveling, wondering what happened, and where he had been.

Travellers on the High Moor may find the occasional stray hobgoblin corpse, drained and already rotting. Each beast has a look of horror on its face, and many have a crude circle and barbarous symbols drawn around them.

Anyone passing through Triel will notice the more building are missing, the ruins having been torn down, and by the looks of the scorched earth, burned. Along with this, tents can be seen set up in a make-shift camp, with more and more appearing as the weeks pass.

Black orcs can be spotted in the area, tearing down structures and attacking most caravans that have the very bad idea of trying to save some time by cutting through the area on the way to their destinations.

People passing through Triel will notice more and more building being torn down and burned, as well as the remains of some caravans.

Also, it appears that the Orcs have fresh supplies, and the number of troops has grown slightly.

Travellers in Thundar's Ride bring back news of a tribe of bugbears with talons tattooed onto their chests, roaming the Ride. They attack any who come near, seemingly angered, but given their battlecries it is an orc raider they seem interested in slaying.

Soubar

Three strangers were seen being chased by a mob of angry mercenaries and their like in Soubar. One female escaped but a man and a woman, both wearing fashionable black hats, weren't as fortunate. They were beaten and left outside the town walls, with considerably lighter purses. Rumours speak of the three strangers looking for a "vicious beast". After being mocked by the mercenaries and failing to heed their warnings... got the viciousness they asked for. Those who make their living in Soubar continue to be suspicious of outsiders, especially those proclaiming to hunt one of their own.

Corm Orp Sermon

A small contingent of Phalanx warriors descend the stronghold of Darkhold into the halfling village of Corm Orp which sits in the Western shadow of the sunset mountains. They stand guard as a Priest of Bane offers a sermon over a gathering of visitors and nervous halflings. The priests departure is accompanied with several cautiously appeasing utterings of "the Black Hand."

A particularly exuberant halfling stands alongside the priest, repeating the last words of every one of the priests phrases while waving his hands in the air emphatically. He can be seen hopping away from the sermon patting his coin purse gleefully.

Zhentarim Caravan Attacked!

In an unusual turn, a Zhentarim caravan was attacked as it passed Triel, heading southwest. There were no survivors. It is unclear how much of the supplies were stolen, as the wagons and their carriage were burned.

Based on the bodies and totems left behind at the scene of the attack, it would appear that orcs were responsible for the raid. The bodies of the deceased were stricken with disease, and idols of Yurtrus were found on site.

Fire in the Reaching Woods

A fire broke out in the southwestern corner of the Reaching Woods, later investigated by a party of adventurers and two druids. The results of the investigation have not been widely publicized yet.

Those passing the morning of the fire noted that they saw the forest belching forth huge plumes of smoke. Several wards bearing the symbol of the Lord of Maggots, the orcish god Yurtrus, were later found pointing towards the woods.

Initial reports indicate that the forest will recover, but that many trees and much wildlife was destroyed by the hungry flames.

Soubar
It hasn't been a good year for the small village of Soubar, or for the bandit forces that make it their home. After repeated attack and decimation, first at the hands of the orcs, then the plague, then other nastiness, the final killing blow came tonight. Word winds its way southward of a raid on the village by the Hellriders - the elite cavalry forces of the small city of Elutrel. Having apparently grown tired of the incessant bandit attacks upon caravans passing through the region, the Hellriders swept into the small village to deal with the brigand menace once and for all. Rumors indicate that the bandits themselves were killed to the very last man in the attack, but tragically many villagers took up arms to defend the bandits - many of whom were their family, and were engaging in banditry to provide for them - and were massacred along with them. The Riders trampled the tents, smashed the makeshift merchant stalls and set much of the village ablaze as terrified villagers scattered into the surrounding countryside, fleeing for their lives with many being cut down by the rampaging cavalrymen in the process.

After the Hellriders made their way south back to Elturel, the village of Soubar remains a shell of its former self. Once the fires were extinguished the returning villagers have begun setting their tents and other makeshift homes back up as others mourned and burned their dead from the attack - a legacy born from their prior devastation at the hands of the plague and the precautions that had to be taken during that crisis. If these whispers are to be believed, it sounds as though the village is hanging on by a thread at this point, as the bandits were the town's only defense force against the various threats that surround it.

Wagonman Bart tells inquisitive adventurer sorts of a group of ruffians that headed southwest towards the forest of Wyrms after speaking with a witch who was traveling through Soubar. Several hours after, Soubar endured a minor earthquake, and several aftershocks.

Somewhere among the Sunset Mountains a private war brews. A random series of mountains along the range suddenly sees s spike in volcanic activity. Fire elementals reek havoc among the nearby hills. Salamanders, efreeti and fire giants Great black wings spread across the sky. Periodically the skirmishes of these fiery creatures are snuffed out with a violent decent from above.

Mass Demonstrations
Image

Mass anti-Zhentarim demonstrations are held in the towns of Scornubel and Elturel following rumors of calls among the Lords Alliance to take up arms against them. Local forces, including the Hellriders of Elturel, lead the gathered peasantry in calls of denouncement against the Zhetarim threat to the Northeastern Sword Coast. The publics calls for the Zhentarim to be held to account for the fate of Triel and their transgressions against the Radiant Heart. The mob calls for the Lords Alliance to muster forces against this threat, while lionizing the Order of the Radiant Heart for their courage in standing steadfast against the shadow cast from the Sunset Mountains.

In a show of interfaith solidarity, Elaborate ceremonies are held venerating Myrkul and Bane in Darkhold square High atop the Sunset Mountains.

Word is sent across the Northern Sword Coast that through veneration of Myrkul and supplication to Bane one can be spared the accursed plague which has afflicted Baldur's Gate and starved trade coming from the West.

Over the coming days, from a distance, torch lights can be seen ascending the increasingly well tread caravan routes up the mountain atop which Darkhold rests. As pilgrims begin to flock from the spattering nearby towns like Corm Orp & Soubar. A few supplicants are even seen arriving from towns such as Elturel and Scornubel, from whom so recently had been shouted calls for a very different sort of march upon the Zhentarim.
