Rumours begin to circulate of undead having brazenly attacked the southern part of the Wyrm's Crossing bridge with adventurers wandering into the cold fog seen for hours lingering near the bridge only to return victorious. The cause of the attack is unknown.

A shock disrupted the typical hustle and bustle of the East Gate District as the people going about their day were suddenly forced to witness a public suicide. An elven woman, reported to be a wizard of some repute by the name of Amicia Vzervaelin, was seen to collapse in the middle of the square located in front of the Sorcerous Sundries magic shop after opening her wrists and attempting to draw a strange circular design on the ground in her own blood. The response from the Fist was immediate, but alas they were not able to save her. All attempts at revival were proven impossible. Beyond rumors that a symbol of the Whitewood Vanguard was observed on her person, little else is known of the circumstances following the event and the symbol she had attempted to draw was quickly washed away by the rain that has been a near-constant in the Gate.

No sooner had the blood been washed from the street in the east of the city when another rumour seeped through the crowds of city dwellers. An expedition returned from the city and one of many recently to patrol the fields of the dead. This one battle weary like the ones before it. Rumour had it they were a near broken force assailed by cultists and their undead legions in that foul place. Spies and scouts suggested some cultists and an undead escort later escaped with some hidden artefacts or gold likely.

There has been recently some open concerns about the City of Baldur's Gate and it's handling of Undead sightings and incursions around the city. Two such incidents recently came to light. The first relates to a large expedition by Oth Neren the Chamberlain at House Darius with various Guilds factions and adventurers that left for an expedition into an old mine in the Troll Claws. Rumour has it they dispatched a lich and found a temporary pathway into the Upperdark and perhaps met this self same recovering lich deep below. In other circumstances they would never have re-met and there is a thought this may be the reason the Undead in that place persist. The tunnels collapsed and the party made various routes to safety. What connection Oth's expedition had with the recent Undead outbreaks remains a matter of speculation but is fueled by two further observations.

A City ranger followed a trail from the mine assuming it belonged to those escaping the cave in. She was not wrong but came upon this group in the field of the Undead declaring them cultists escaped from the same cave in. They were later seen by another to take refuge in a crypt within the Fields of the Dead. A large force spearheaded by the Vanguard on patrol in that place stirred up a fierce response of Undead from the cultists who were trapped within the crypt. It seems they were saved from further investigation by a mysterious light over Baldur's Gate which led the adventurers off in pursuit of greener glory.

The cultists could not believe their luck a second time and it is thought they slipped safely away with their secrets sometime later.

So on city streets there is growing disquiet with the issue some blaming the rambling of curious adventurers and many more the City and a lack of response.

Just another day on the Coast.

Buzz from the Palace District seems to abound in the wake of a home burglary; the City Watch are summoned to the stately manor of House Hauerthorne in the dead of the night after the smashing of a second-floor window is heard throughout the wealthy neighborhood. It is somewhat immediately rumored the next day among the families of the Gate's upper crust that Lord Hauerthorne, for his "emotional fortitude" and due to "grief prorogued by some callous, criminal element," makes hasty plans to depart for his country house. His two eldest sons, Dedrich and Johann, have chosen to stay at Hauerthorne estate, meanwhile firing the current security staff and hiring a new firm that seems to provide guards in greater number than before.

A few nights past in The Eastern District, a commotion was reported. Firstly the canine residents of the city set to singing throughout the night. Seemingly taking up their howls at seemingly random moments and covering parts of the city with the mournful song of fearful animals known for their dauntless courage. As the moon rose over the city, those with sharp eyes would have noticed a shadow traveling along the roofs without sound or apparent strain.

Finally a scuffle was heard, in a back street along the southern wall the sound of blows and shouts broke the peace of the night. In quick order members of House Vale marched to The Fist Garrison, while a armored figure and cloaked companions rushed through the street. The growing dread was finally shattered by the arrival of Captain Norton and a contingent of Flaming Fist veterans. With torches and steel they took up a post outside the local orphanage.

Many rumors claim to report on the incident. . .With one thing in common. A shrouded body was removed from the orphanage.

House Delinghar 14 th in line for front seat at the Neverwinter hall of fame, made a public announcement at Baldur's gate where they have a residence and oversee the trade of garments mostly. They praised and elevated the standing of House Vale of Baldur's gate citing discretion, values, and common decency. It is said the Dukes themselves were made aware and nodded approvingly. It seems there is a drive towards law and order and the rule of law against a backdrop of a failed generation of nobles under performing and being unduly influenced by the dark underbelly of the City. There was talk of a task force forming.

Rumors begin to spread through the Gate of something terrible having happened inside the Temple of Ilmater, though details are scarce - and often contradictory, depending on who's telling the story - concerning what, specifically, might have happened.

Rumours have it that Oth Neren may have been indirectly responsible for a deadly night of vampiric attacks. By refusing to hand over some sort of key, and refuting any help given by a woman named Layla, who is a known vampre herself, to track and destroy these kin of hers, many innocent people fell victim to the vampire clans bite that evening. Whether handing over the key would have even made a difference, would be up to ones interpretation.

Rumours have it that a known vampire openly named Vik Dunhayev a "friend" and that she was looking forward to him potentially fulfilling his task and convincing the others to come to their senses and help her retrieve some sort of artifact. She seemed to hold Vik in a kind of higher regard than the others she has thus far spoken with.

// this rumor is strictly for spirit shamans or any character or class that has the ability to see into the ethereal plane.

Lately within and around the city of baldur's gate your senses tingle and twitch, there is a strange activity in the air, spirits are seen searching, seeking, and tracking, unlike most all spirits that are tied to a specific event in there life, these spirits seem to act in unison. They search..... Looking..... But seeming to never find what they desire, they ignore most all the living. Even the powers of a trained seer are tested as the spirits make efforts to ignore your calls.

A random stop along the Tradeway
"Dogs?"

"Dogs"

The farmer looks unconvinced. "That can't be right. He's gotta be pulling yer leg." He ushers the cart past, "Who's ever heard of ghost dogs?"

The caravan guard eyes the supply wagon as it passes. "Just telling you what the word is. And it might just be the one. Rumours say the dog's been harrassing lonely travellers and spiriting them away if'n it catches them." He gives the farmer a long look.

The farmer looks down the Tradeway. "Ghost dogs..." Throwing his hands up, "Can't we get one month without weirdness around here?"

Zhentarim Grain

*It is said that in recent days a Zhentarim caravan of grain from Corm Orp under the command of Zhent Herald Durthi Barrowstone handed out grain to about 50 of the same Baldurian lower class citizens in the Northern Farmlands over a period of a few days after inspection by an official of Grand Duke Entar's office, daily, until the rations were depleted. At least another one hundred or so citizens otherwise interested over a period of a few days decided to not take the offering of grain after hearing first or second hand an impassioned moral plea by Grand Knight Aaron that any gift from the Zhentarim is tainted and should be rejected. The citizens that did accept the grain seemed very grateful to the Zhentarim for the charitable offer.*

Suspicious Discussions
More than a few farmers and locals in the outskirts of Baldur's Gate have expressed sudden interest in magic. Several even going so far as to enquire with local adventurers and the church of Mystra about it. Strangely though, many have expressed a recent change of heart about how important magical skill should be to those in charge.

A handful of locals have even been in touch with resident Thayans, curious about how well their nation's system works. Likely much to the Thayan's surprise and annoyance.

*The Council of Four releases a public proclamation on the upcoming Duchal Court.*

The Grand Dukes of Baldur's Gate announce that in addition to the formal speaking and non-speaking delegates to the upcoming Duchal Court as is normal, the wider public, as long as they are legally in good standing with the city, will be allowed to observe the court as audience members only. Any disrespect shown to the court, however, will be treated harshly. Thereby, all such allowed members of the public are invited to the Duchal Court, as non-speaking audience members only, when it takes place on the 5th of Nightal nine hours after mid-day.

((Publicly observable Duchal Court event at the Duchal Palace in Baldur's Gate on Saturday, December 5 21:00 GMT.))

Growing Discussions
A small crowd was seen gathering about the Thayan embassy intent on overwhelming those within with questions about Thay, working there and various other unusual enquiries. Traffic became so thick at the embassy that they shut their doors for the day just to get some quiet. The crowd continued to gossip and bicker for several hours outside as new onlookers joined in to replace those giving up.

Some other things probably happened too but they likely weren't that important.
