This day, on 30th of Nightal, there's an unusual commotion at Beregost. Led by a one-eyed tiefling, forces gather, prepared to march. Their eyes are directed towards something hidden to the North-east. Some rumors say that they're not simply gathering for a treasure raid but rather to defend the town... but from what?

Those whom frequent Feldepost's inn would see a local wine merchant engaged in discussion with a wandering earth soul. Briefly trading what would appear to be a single bottle of wine, followed by a hearty chat before parting ways.

There has been some activity just north of Beregost along the Trade Way. Several individuals with all manner of tools and equipment were seen in companionship of guards heading above the waterfall. Those with a keen eye and knowledge of engineering could tell that these individuals were carrying surveying equipment. If they were inquired what they were doing, they would simply say that they have been tasked with measuring the land for future construction.

A halfling woman, dressed in purple and maroon finery can be seen meeting with Samuel Feldepost in the Risen Phoenix. Those paying close attention would note that a lengthy business-like chat was had before the pair would shake hands and part amicably.

*rumors of bandits spread around and within the small city of Beregost, travelers to and from and even locals talk about recent robberies and even kidnappings on the roads nearby.

It is said that though there has been no murders due to the recent events, most all that become preyed upon end up leaving with less than they arrived with. Many that have encountered the cutthroats say they are not your average variety and are often well prepared to deal with both harty guardsmen and the arts of magic.

Many stories of encounters meet the ears of those around, and more often than not the robbers are always described differently, leading local officials of the Beregost militia to believe this may not be the random attacks of a single cell, but perhaps the organized actions of a larger group.

One thing is for certain, the local need for bodyguards and protection is booming as many caravans and traveling citizens are hiring for as much as 1000 gold coins.*

Rumors abound from the North that "House Blackrose" would be sending a squad of troops south to "Beregost" to help keep the roads and the "Tradeways" secure.

With the recent attacks of well organized bandit striking at travellers and caravans around Beregost a small camp could be seen being erected just south of the town. The Blackrose standard hung high and blowing in the wind. The small troop would begin patrolling the area and help travellers and caravans alike reach there destination safely.

The Beregost Militia patrols—and notably the Militia's steely, veteran commander Cullan Mirrowell—seem to regard this development with skepticism. That is, skepticism at best, and rather thick wariness at worst. Commander Cullan may be seen keeping half an eye on the small group of veritably unknown northerners, a rumpled missive in hand, murmuring to a pair of hooded women as they all stand at the fringe of Beregost's southern boundary. Otherwise, the commander can be seen delegating tasks and sending patrols among his own ranks in answer to the recent bandit threat.

*a large scale assault of bandits ravaged the northern roads into beregost this evening, robbing and pillaging any and all travelers and caravans that passed through the area. Though ultimately they were beaten into retreat by a group of adventurers reports from beregost say the amount of lost trade goods and personal belongings by there activity amounts to over 10 trade bars worth of supplies and goods.*

As the beregost militia begins to mobilize on alert from the resent robberies the bandits hold on the roads begin to slow, and many of the attacks stop as if a retreat has been called by the new gang. Shortly after the large groups of bandits retreat word spreads of minor movement around the roads still, but not as attempts of robbery.

Word spreads as a group of beregoat militia return to the city, three men are rushed to the church of lathander with leg injuries caused by traps placed around the roads. Though for now the threat of robbery is low, the chance of injury has increased as the bandits switch to a more guerilla warfare type of tactic.

As the days would go by more Blackrose troops would arrive at the camp south of Beregost with supplies and tents which they would pitch into the earth.
Image

Rumors though would start to abound that a blow was dealt to the well organized bandits. One of there leaders was tracked down and killed.

The story would circulate that the bandits would draw the Blackrose forces and those that were there at the time away from the camp into a trap.

Image

The bandits cleverly laid out traps and used starved and wild animals against the troop as they ventured into the lions dens so to speak. The troop would stay in a tight formation and if there were any breaks in the lines the bandits didn't hesitate to expose the weakness and deal a lethal blow.

Image

Eventually it came to a stand still and the leader of this group of bandits revealed herself and tried to bribe the Blackrose forces to return north and not get in the involved in the situation again. Though there were a few voices from the tag along's that wanted to take the enormous amount of gold and leave, The mind of those of House Blackrose was made up.
A fight ensured with the last of the bandits before there leader fell to a Mighty member of the House named Thok.

As the dust settled with a clear victor the group took a moment to gather themselves and make sense of what had happen.

Eventually the group returned back to the camp south of Beregost to look to there wounded and resupply.
It is said that the Sergeant in arms of the House obtained some vital information on the rest of the bandit cell that had become known as "The Bear Claw Gang"

Two riders bearing the "Blackrose" standard could be seen riding hard southwards passing through "Beregost" and making for the temporary camp to the South.
Not even a candle-mark would pass by and the "Blackrose" forces would pack up camp and head back North along the Tradeway.
Rumors have it that all "Blackrose" Forces within the region have been recalled the "Northern Outpost" by Lady "Amelia" herself.

The eagle-eyed and the observant might notice that one Osric of House Vale spent an unusual amount of time on one sunny afternoon speaking with the traveling merchant near the northern gate of Beregost. Those paying attention might have noted that he seemed to be asking if the merchant - a known procurer of powerful curios and relics - might know anything about a set of necromantic gems, rumored to be responsible for the recent spate of undead attacks.
