As the Galleon known as the DragonWing dropped anchor two klicks from shore in Ulgoths Beard people began to whisper. Talk of the Crew's help in getting Ol' Man Hakon's wife's spirit to stop wandering the Beard and settle in for eternal rest had already spread around the small seaside village. While the tales varied, and grew with each telling, the jist of each was the same...

Her spirit was restless, each would tell... wandering the lands, frightening the locals and causing many a commotion. Some stories would have her taking lives of locals. Others would have her taking the life of a child. Whatever the case, the locals had been frightened enough to hire a cleric to banish her spirit. Ol' Man Harkon had been beside himself. He knew if she were banished before finishing whatever task bound her spirit to the mortal lands, she'd never truly have a peaceful afterlife.

It was little less than fate that brought the Crew and Ol' Man Harkon together. Perhaps little more than kindness and a whole lot of luck that saw them through the task.. but in the end her spirit was given the peace it sought as her body was given a burial at sea rather than in the ground where she'd been placed.. and once again the sleepy seaside village was calm..

The DragonWing's newest boatswain often disappears from land for days a time, hardly leaving the ship for anything save duties that absolutely require it.

A few whispers float amongst the crew and those familiar with the ship's comings and goings about two peculiar habits of the dark-haired bosun'.

First, that when a crewmember references a portion of the boat he often refers to a cloth drawing he keeps in his pocket. Second, he's never seen sleeping in his hammock without a gray blanket, the corner of which bears a painstakingly embroidered patch of flowers.

After weeks of preparation, the DragonWing takes to the seas alongside the majestic Whistling Wanderess for the long voyage to Waterdeep to fetch healing for the war efforts. She can, when not below deck, be found often standing beside the Bosun, or the new helmsman.. Her attention on the waters sharp and unwavering as they sailed.

Locals would notice the coming and goings of quite a few visitors to the Last Anchor, the land
holding of the DragonWing Crew.. Foot traffichas seemingly picked up since the arrival of the
DragonWing even before their highly anticipated public opening. Rumors had begun to circulate
of good drink often coupled with tales of feasts, comments of the unmistakable scent of fowl and
beast and what some swear must be rum cake, frequently noted in passing the small home
turned hall. With the main floor open to the public, many have ventured in to see for
themselves, some with the hopes of getting a taste of the sweet smelling morsels.

*Terri Lalani would be seen entering and leaving the Bearded Mermaid quite a bit lately from the lower doorway with stacks of papers and a safe that looks dam near un-pick-able. The safe would be deposited in the room within the basement that she has rented with the Mayors permission and as a citizen of Urgoth's beard. She would smile and wave at the familiar faces upon leaving the Inn.*

A local artisen can be seen carrying two wrapped portraits into the Last Anchor.
When asked of the contents, Desrah would be happy to escort anyone downstairs who cared
to see the man's immaculate work. She would bring them to the Navigation room within the
Last Anchor, and tell them the story of the couple who's images are now depicted on the wall.
They are those of Captain and Lady Hakon. Former owners of what is now the home of the DragonWing Crew.

As the skiff approached the Beard, ferrying over individuals who, while using the DragonWing's
ferrying services, had visited the DragonWing, it came to a hault a half klick from shore.
Desrah's arms needing a moment's respite from the rowing..The passenger turned to the Captain.

"It's beautiful out here. Can we just sit and enjoy the view a bit before reaching shore?"
Agreeing with the passanger, the Captain pulled the ores into the small boat, laying them neatly
at their feet. Sitting back she drew a slow, deep breath of fresh sea air and smiled.

"This.. is what I live for..."

Aidan Thatcher would be seen walking about the Beard in the evenings.
His desire to show support of the town that housed him during his days aboard the
Dragonwing are clear, as he makes his stops to visit with the locals to ask if they've seen anything out of place. Each evening starting at the watch tower above the town, rounding down the paths, past the docks and lighthouse before traveling his way back around the back side of the buildings along the cliff. His movements come in slow so to be sure he misses little. He'd stop at the Last Anchor to let Desrah know he's done for the night before making his way back to the tent he calls home, along the river. Hoping to get enough sleep before he travels to check on his crew-mates and the Wanderess in the morning.

Rumor makes it way through the hamlet of Ulgoth's Beard. Under a Ten Day ago, a man washed up upon the shore, barely clinging to life, as well, barely clinging to a man's length trunk of wood. Found upon the sandy beach, a small rescue to health entailed setting the drifter to warm by the nearest campfire, imbibing him with an elixir to bring his faculties back from...the realm between life and the forever void.

After some time nursing him, the villagers began to question the man, taking into account time of year, the coldness of the waters, the likelihood of any surviving for long with only simple cloths and upon a trunk of wood. The man easily gave his name, of Dhavel, as well, his story: he was but a passenger upon a trading vessel making way from Mintarn to Orlumbor, when...reaching near the harbor of the island city-state, tragedy struck when waves surged upon the vessel and its hull was struck open by running aground.

Once informed, the man seemed surprised that he was now upon the Sword Coast and in this hamlet, having some idea of the region, the coastline outposts and where civilization could be found. But in general, his response was to give honor to The Water Lord, and expressing, that it was the expression of the cycle of fate.

Dhavel, taking account of his low health, asked of the people of the hamlet to bring him to a place to which he could rest further. As he left the beach, Dhavel turned to recognize the drift wood that had aided his journey upon the waves to land, and safety. He called out to the fishermen to hold that wood for him, in storage...so that one day soon he would return to claim it.

A man freely introducing himself as Dhavel, recuperates toward better health, at the Bearded Mermaid—the place were he was brought, after his recent landing upon the Coast.

The fires are burning warm there, and so it seems, the vibrant life within the tavern allows him a certain anonymity, for the time being.

In front the fire, standing...it could seem as he waits for someone, or simply, he observes his hands, warming as held to the fire, simply to admire their...existence.

Though it seemed he washed up upon shore with nothing more than the driftwood raft he clung to, in the days he spends housed in the tavern, he acquires new attire, in a sea-blue colored cloth, rugged enough to protect against the coastal weather of the season. The color from the cloth seems to surround him, more than just visually, but as a mood—two views to be worn...and observed.

Though he stands among the crowd within the tavern for some time, he appears to observe more than participate—like pooling water, settled, but soon to run over the barrier edge.

*A neatly prepared flyer could be noticed on many information boards along the coast in the cities, at the Inns and in other places where people like to congregate.*

*A long parchment with more details regarding the festival is usually pinned underneath the flyer.*

A day arrives when Dhavel, clothed in cloth of sea blue and woven thick against coastal weather, ventures out from the Bearded Mermaid. The village folk, if wary and observant of a newcomer in their hamlet, would see that Dhavel makes two investigations....

The first steps Dhavel makes from lead-glass-pained tavern are toward the shore, where he makes contact with the fishermen that did rescue him from his plight. He inquires and collects the driftwood body, and makes effort to have some carpentry—and more—made. The fishermen and others involved in this project, perceive a reverence toward the driftwood, by Dhavel—something born in faith, or presented as such.

The second set of steps that Dhavel makes after concluding the business of the first, take him in a wide wandering of the hamlet itself. From shoreline to cliff view, he seems to be searching for something, as his sense pierce the surroundings. But his countenance does not show that his search has led to any resolve.

Later, Dhavel is seen and heard querying the town know-it-all, who seems more-than-eager to engage in conversation. Dhavel speaks: "Where is placed your monument to the Water Lord?"

Attentive to rumors as she is, back to the village Parsee has learned of a man washed ashore in Ulgoths Beards and nursed to health by vilagers roughtly the time she joined DragonWing crew.
Taking curiosity in man's story (and likely not believing it) and foreign ways, yet only interracting with him as any other villager would by chance, untill the day he decided to explore the surroundings to search for something.
What would it be? Comming across Dhavel, the red-haired youth would ask the man for his interest, and given the answer, telling him that she would offer him company in the search of the site and Sea Queen's shrines (for herself), to boot!

Dhavel reacts to the interest given him, by the red-haired youth...

"You are most welcoming, with your offer, goodwoman. Your eyes seem to recognize me, though I have not told you my name...it is Dhavel, yes. Many are conscious yet confused, when it comes to the Water Lord's domain...and to how best to led him guide, as it is his nature. The Sea Queen...yes, she is strong in power, and any sensitive to peace between land and sea, would honor her...at least, when they are bold to cross her domain.

Let us walk together, let us wander the coast, if your offer stands true...and tell me, what is your place in life?"

They may or may not scour the Coast together....the future is yet to be written.

///To be continued IG.
