A blonde Sun Elf is alone on a cliff, overlooking Ulogth's Beard and the sea. Practicing the deadly choreography of her rapier's dance.
A pirouette into an evasive backflip from an imaginary wide arch swing lands the Elf it a graceful kneel facing the Blue.
The pirouette to spin her back is interrupted by the sound of crackling thunder of Storm's brewing. Ears prick to reflective memories of Storms braced through rough seas.
A racial quirk cause the Ar-Tel'Quessir to find herself quickly by the lighthouse.
Gazing in solemn contemplation to strike intimacy between herself and her mastery.
Nostalgia of Leuthilspar likened to Lylan'Synor her first voyage through the storm ring around the Green Isle, the roaring of the waves tingle a long since heard sound. Similar to the underwater bellow of the great Hamnuatha, the sacred protector of their city.

Seeing the fishermen returning with ravaged tools the Gold Elf turns to ask of the rough sea.
Hearing their answer, slanted pools of emeralds continue to ponder at the storm. Until finally, Lylan'Synor turn back and makes her way to the last anchor. She must have words with her neighbors.

A large gathering was held at the Last Anchor today, meeting with Mergus the Elder of Ulgoth's Beard.

The discussion was mostly the results of the recent improvements as well as possible other contributions the Pub and Inn could make to the sleepy little town. It is said an education program as well as training and outfitting the small town guard was discussed, and possibly trying to get some trade negotiations set up to supply the town with more raw materials for the smithy and such.

Later, Lannia Ranloss, one of the Anchor's proprietors, made a large fish dinner for all who remained, and she and her husband Derik went down to the beach with everyone and had an impromptu celebration of their 1 year marriage anniversary. A bit of dancing, talking, and merriment ensued before everyone eventually went their ways.

A large, tufted ear cat makes it's way on the roofs in Ulgoth's Beard, resting at window ledges until it founds the tiefling called Niyressa Dawncrow. Niyressa would found a small scrollcase on the collar of the cat.

A tall, one eyed blond man was seen striding into the Last Anchor. Exchange was short, as he was then seen leaving only scant minutes later with a package clutched to his chest like a newborn child. The darkness under his eye told a story, though it did not dull his warm smile.

Jackard Marks of the Rocky Creek Trade Company has been asking around Ulgoth's Beard about the availability of a transport ship, to aid in delivery of locally-purchased fish up the Chionthar to Baldur's Gate.

He would drop in the Last Anchor for a drink or two of Purple Hill Cider or Calimsharian Amber if they have it, and ask the proprietors if they have a suitable vessel.

This work all done in support of the efforts in securing food for the Tymount refugees.

Jackard soon leaves Ulgoth's Beard, after having hired a local fisherman to ferry his load upstream to Baldur's Gate.

Mara, the cook, would have seen to the gentlman and warned that one of the proprietors was not well, and that the other was barely around as he was out seeking a cure to the mysterious illness the plagued his wife. Rumors around the beard constructed the following events if anyone had asked about for them;

Lannia barely lifted her head for weeks, milling about in an almost zombie-like state. Sometimes she got up and did Lannia-like things such cooking in the kitchen, or fishing. More often than not she seemed to forget what she was doing, leaving goodness knows what mixed together on the counter top, or burning on the stove. She would then be seen swinging her fishing poll toward the water and either forgetting to release the line or put any bait on the hook. Since the shaman was renowned for her hunting, fishing, and cooking skills, the onlookers at Ulgoth's Beard watched with morbid horror, worried, and unsure of what to do. Lannia had long been a light in the sleepy hamlet, bringing healing to their sick and the blessings of Chauntea to their crops.

So everyone watched. Dove, who had come to the near-famous shaman for spiritual healing got worse without care. Other such pilgrims showed up for guidance and turned away when empty, listless blue eyes looked at them but could not seem to see them. They all watched and shook their heads in despair. What would come of the girl who walked into their lives as a scared, lost child, and became a warrior, a priestess, a great shaman, and the heart of her community?

Near three years had built the name of Lannia Ranloss, and knitted it firmly on the hearts of those around her. Those that couldn't help but miss the love that radiated in her presence, now gone cold. Empty, and hollow she always sat unblinking and lifeless while still breathing. She had helped saved Baldur's Gate from three great sea monsters. She had helped to free the demon silver mine slaves. She had helped track and put down a demon bear menace, and helped the druid circle reclaim it's magic acorn relics. She was a legend of sorts, and people felt that they were watching the legend fade before their very eyes.

But most of all they missed her laughter. They missed the motherly figure that always pulled them into her inn and fed them ridiculous amounts of food. To Lannia, once you were met, you were family, and you felt it. The mood in the fishing village grew dimmer as she did. Seeing her moving about no longer brought hope that she would recover. It was only a ghost that shuffled among them and reminded them of who they were losing.

They watched her husband come and go. He looked more haggard and tired by the day. Mara, the inn's cook when Lannia wasn't around, reported that Derik would sit beside her bed and watch Lannia sleep. When she was up and about he would talk to her, and her eyes would trace the sound of his voice and then wonder off again. It was heartbreaking to see. He never stopped talking to her, for just the empty glances it won him. He would pack up and go somewhere... Mara couldn't say where. She could only offer that he was looking for a cure. Few remained hopeful he would find one.

Then as Lannia stood staring at the bay, with a fishing poll in her hands that she wasn't even bothering to cast, a blinding blue light shot across the sky. It was not common for people to see things of a spiritual nature, and they could not have told you what they saw. Just a blue light that ran right into Lannia Ranloss' chest, radiating out to her fingertips, toes, and into up through her eyes, and then sunk into her. She collapsed forward into the water, and Bob drug her out before she would drown, sending a runner to the Last Anchor for help.

She was carried to her home.

Beach Party!
As night settles over Ulgoth's Beard a thick fog rolls over the shore, the air is heavy, cold, and quiet.
Many of the locals have retired for the night, and sailors drink in the taverns.
One poor soul enjoying the night alone fish on the beach finds his life cut short at the end of a blade,
pirates quietly beach a few small boats along the coast line before the silence was broken.
Cannon fire hails down over the town and pirates begin to set building on fire. Alarm gongs ring out the call to arms, beckons burn signaling the attack. People flee in a panic screaming and hiding, the local guard try to hold off the attackers as long as they can,
however things go south very quickly as some of the pirates conjure dark powers.

Finally others come to the aid of the town, from near by islands and tradeways these brave souls assist in fighting back against the waves of Pirates.
Between the waves of pirates the ship at sea fires more and more shots of cannon fire clearing the beach for the next wave.
Dragging on into the night a few gather together in hopes to take the fight to them,
taking one of the last boats on the beach 5 souls board the boat and sail out to the pirate's ship.

Aboard the ship a skeleton crew fights the five however are easily defeated.
Strange how so many attack the beach and yet there are none on the ship,
only the markings of some sort of arcane or Infernal text on the floors and walls. . .
Finally two of the five leap from the ship into the water, another two jump out of reaction just before cannon fire rains over the ship.
One shot crashes though the railing of the ship hitting the dwarf and blasting him over the side of the ship.
Injured and confused all five manage to swim back to shore. Another ship turns and sail away into the mist, just as the sun begins to rise.

and they never realized that the real treasure was the fond memories they were creating."

During this attack Derik Ranloss would be seen, flaming sword in hand, holding a line near the Last Anchor with whatever other residents and staff of the Last Anchor would join him, allowing townsfolk to flee past to the relative safety of the inn or to the cliffs behind the town.

After the immediate threat was done and the adventurers were making counter attack, Derik and two bouncers, his bartender, and custodian in the least would aid in putting out the fires that had been started. The other residents of the Anchor would be left to either watch those taking shelter or assist as they saw fit.

The Anchor would open its door the next couple of days to provide food and shelter for those in need from the town while their homes were repaired. If necessary, the Ranlosses would offer financial assistance for materials.

A lone priest visits the coastal town. Dressed in priestly vestments of purple and amber, with eyes deep as the oceans and voice as calming as the morning mists. To any who would listen he speaks of times before gods and about the Great One who predates them all.

...there are the squabbles that wars among gods bring, yet I bring you the enlightened word of one who predates them all. One who accepts all of creation and sees a place in it for all peoples. He shuns not any for their station in life nor the wealth or lack thereof. All that matters to the Ancient One who watches from beyond is your devotion. Show him love as I show you now and let me tend to your weary hearts. Come, be healed, be rested and be fed! Any who would walk with us may partake of the rewards reaped by the faithful.

Worry no longer about the waves of the ocean, for they can take nothing from you while He Watches. Fear not the harsh winter, for the faithful always endure! Run not from those who would harm you, as with Him by your side, you can stand strong and proud.

I was once lost like you, shuffling about through the daily dredge, simply seeking the next meal, but I was shown the Truth and I was shown how the world will end. Our daily squabbles are meaningless. Our rat race from day to day and meal to meal is pointless and needless. Show devotion and be sustained through Faith...

With words of conviction and fervour he'd bolster the hearts, with spell and potion he'd tend to any who would come asking, regardless of their creed or class. He shunned not the lord nor the leper. All who asked would today freely receive of the power that unquestioning zeal could buy, and any who wished could take their first steps towards their new lives, for as the priest spoke, "All beings are fit to wield true power."

Derik Ranloss would watch the street preacher, arms crossed, cloak fluttering in the winter wind. The Hamlet of Ulgoth's Beard was small indeed for a lone preacher to come this way and the proprietor of the Last Anchor seemed to think it particular indeed.

However, the large warrior made no move to halt any of the villagers or such from listening to the man or receiving aid. Instead he just watched with passive gaze and stance from a short distance.

Last dawn Lylan'Synor and Niyressa could be seen on the beach. A ship waiting deep in the waters. The boat that would take the Sun Elf there is ready, a ferryman folds his arm.
A big bag to her back, hugging Niyressa. Both women speak in soft, loving voices. Gentle tears might glisten in their eyes. Reluctant to let go of each other. They eventually withdraw.
Lylan would board the ferry that takes her to the ship.
The sun elf watched the sleepy fishing village grow smaller with distance. Her emerald and violet eyes focus on a disappearing figure on shore, with flaming red hair and little horns.

On a whim, a tall, enthusiastic young woman takes a boat to the island of Ulgoth's Beard.

As she disembarks a stand catches her eye. She had been fishing before, but never in the sea. With a kind smile she takes a bucket of bait, buys a fishing pole and hat and walks with a bounce in her step to the perfect perch. The waves lap lazily at the sand. Her wide view of the sky is perfect for enjoying every shade in the resplendent sunrise — Lathander be praised.

Again and again she tosses her line, losing her bait more often than not. With concentration she secures yet another worm, then lofts it past lazy waves to its watery demise.

Then, a tug. She tugs back. The line screams as it zips through the water and she grips the pole with both hands, her knuckles whiter than when she held a morningstar for the very first time. For well over a bell she fights the creature on the other end. By the end of it, both are exhausted, but Kiera has claimed her prize: an absolutely massive marlin fish.

While as a paladin she does not lie, that doesn't prevent others from spreading a fish tale worthy of a bard's song.

Image

She seeks someone with expertise in butchering her catch, and asks the person to pack it for long-distance travel to Beregost.
