A man by the name of Solomon has been taking up residence in Soubar. He spends most of his time in the tavern or the campfire talking with locals and offering his prayers to heal the sick or injured. Or heal the afflicted with disease or curse. Every once and awhile he stands and gathers the crowd nearby to speak on the teachings of Lady Luck. . .

“Come closer everyone! I have something to say that I'm sure you'll want to hear.”

He waves his arms in a “Come together” fashion. Trying to bring them closer as to hear him better.

“Have you ever said, “Wish me luck!”? I'm sure you have!”

He smiles to the crowd and twirls his large mustache with his fore finger and thumb.

“You have given prayer to my Lady. Mistress of Good Fortune! Our smiling Lady. I, my friends, am Solomon, Luckbringer of Tymora. I've come to your tent town to usher in Our Ladies good fortune! You are all in the right place and at the right time to feel her grace and the warmth of Her embrace! Right here..”

He motions to Jackardt Marks standing just to his side.

“Right here is my friend Jarkardt! He can work his magic with the local merchants to cut the prices asked! He saved a man 10 bags of gold on a new weapon the other night. I saw it with my own eyes. It's true!”

He smiles to the crowd reassuringly.

“I know, I know... It sounds to good to be true. But I bet you One Hundred to one, your favor, that he can and will save you coin should you use his service.”

He waits a few moments for the talking in the crowd to subside.

“Now, my friends, I'd like to read you a prayer to my Mistress of Luck. Gather close and lower your head in reverence. . .

One should be bold, for to be bold is to be alive.

A brave heart and willingness to take risks always beat out carefully wrought plans, always.

Place yourself in the hands of Lady Luck and trust your own fate.

Bear and conduct yourselves as your own masters, showing your good or bad fortune as confidence in the Lady.

Chase your own unique goals, and the Lady aids the chase to those goals.

Without direction or goals, you soon know the embrace of Beshaba, For those on no set course are at the mercy of misfortune, which has no mercy at all.”

After he reads the prayer he casts a small blessing on the crowd.

“Thank you all for your time. Jackardt can take your names or orders if you wish to use his service. I offer healing and cures for ailments, should you need them.”

Solomon then walks through the small crowd shaking hands and introducing himself on a one on one basis.
Solomon, Luckbringer of Tymora ~ A copper to the Lady, returns tenfold in gold!!
Dartryn Mallocant, Evoker Mage ~ "Do you have time to talk about magic?"
Traegan Daershun, Archer of the Whitewood Vanguard ~ "Of course we'll help...for a price."

Scuffle avoided today in Soubar near the road to the Northern Tradeway. A robed gray orc, tall and thin for a member of his race, entered town alone from that direction. Upon entering he set off a series of lighted alarms before chancing upon what appeared to be two pinkskin merchants, each holding torches and accompanied by their own packhorses.

The gray orc aggressively questioned the merchants about their affiliations and right to engage in mercantile activities in the town, at which point one of the pair taunted the orc, no doubt ready to provoke him into a battle one against two. Much to bystanders surprise the other stepped forward and teleported the pair, along with their horses, out of the town.

The orc muttered something about cowardice and sniffed around to see if anything had fallen from the packhorses bags. Unable to find anything he moved to depart, shaking his head at the weakness of the pinkskin race.

Surveying the scene finally before departing, the orc sniffed the air and remarked aloud that he hoped the pinkskins weren't paying anyone else for such poor protection in the town of Soubar.

A large knight in blackened plate-mail armour arrived in Soubar from the north gate riding a great warhorse. He traveled with a banner hoisted, heralding the religion of Bane. Vultures circled above his passage for behind him traveled a chain-gang of lawless men, apprehended from the wilderness, who had endured a long and forced march and were on the brink of death. As they reclined at the well of the town it might be seen that their bodies were dusted red with powdered carnelian.

When midnight came and the moon was high, the warrior led these half-dozen men beneath the town into the subterranean temple of The Black Lord. When he emerged again he was alone.

After a pass through the township, nailing several sheets of propaganda, he returned by horse north the way he had come.

Serve no one but Bane. Fear him always and make others fear him even more than you do. The Black Hand always strikes down those who stand against it in the end. Defy Bane and die - or in death find loyalty to him, for he shall compel it. Submit to the word of Bane as uttered by his ranking clergy, since true power can only be gained through service to him. Spread the dark fear of Bane. It is the doom of those who do not follow him to let power slip through their hands. Those who cross the Black Hand meet their dooms earlier and more harshly than those who worship other deities.

Among all the drama, gossip and Rumors that sweep the the Docks of Baldur's Gate, The streets of Soubar, and Roaring Shore, and even the reports making their way to Darkhold, there is talk of yet another outlaw crew being formed. Wherever there is a shady tavern or merchant selling black market items, one can pretty much pick up what being put down regarding this new crew.
Upon plying one of these merchants or barkeeps with a few coins they, after a quick appraisal, will provide some details of what they heard.
The rumors themselves seem to be centered on some blonde sun elf woman named Shunasassi going around telling these tavern owners and merchants alike to put the word out, that this elf broad is forming this 'gang' or mercenary group of opportunist, to do some 'jobs'.
The word on this elf, is she is easy going enough, seems trustworthy and legitimate enough, for an elf, almost always said with a shrug.
They also usually add that she has a queer manner of speaking, talking all funny like...They jokingly quote her as saying she is, "seeking to acquire beings having no impediment or moral compunctions regarding the breaking of laws or other such codes of ethics or conduct".

The only other thing that can be known about this job opportunity or this elf is that she is trying to form this 'crew' in Soubar.

A Woman in black and Wearing a Skull Mask could be seen putting up a notice on the Notice board in Soubar. Her demeanor was calm and collective, Though an Aura of Malice and Necrotic energy surrounded her along with the smell of death.

Those passing by the FAI find rumours of fiendish hounds attacking a solitary woman not far from it's gates. The powerful creatures were put down by the efforts of a mage named Ravenlock with some assistance from a healer named Mackerty. The local guard are warned of the presence and possible threat to visitors.

A notice of the woman's description and location of burial is placed as testament to the attack on the notice boards.

The past few tenday a solitary warrior has stood a persistent vigil over Boarskyr bridge apart from the Northern Watch in Bridgefort. Her purpose when asked is given freely; keeping an eye over the road from Dragonspear, and lending an extra set of eyes for the Watch with regards to the past few months demonic incursions (she does not at all seem to care when attempts are made to correct her terminology).

Occasionally she is met by a young man dressed in black whom she crudely, or sometimes cruelly trains in swordsmanship. Going so far as to berate and bruise the boy when his heart keeps him from performing at his best. In spite of this, the young man in black continues to return (albeit not eagerly) to accept more of her harsh training.

Recently in Soubar, two Ebon Blade teleport in with a foreign female soldier in manacles. They were sighted by the residents in Soubar as they had moved briskly to a side entrance to the Ebon Blade fortress with the captive.

A stalwart sentry of many nights at last broke from his post over the Hunter's grounds. A traipsing hand grasped reins that came from nowhere, and soon the black-clad errant was mounted at a canter on a white steed, southward, then eastward.

Under the darkness of night a herculean horseman rode into Soubar on a black Tyranturan steed with a dyed red mane. He dismounted at the Ebon Blade compound and entered therein alone. Less than an hour later the man emerged, took his steed and was on the road back to Darkhold.

Last night saw some unusual activity in Soubar as the Northern Watch and paladins from the Radiant Heart entered the settlement, having Teleported to the vicinity with full wards - and some might say they looked ready for a fight. No fight however broke out but words were exchanged between several people. What had caused them to arrive may have been the sighting of a certain necromancer known as Morgan Blackrose.

A man dressed in grey robes and hood covered in road dust can be seen in Soubar asking various questions. He offers his services as a priest of the Rider of the Winds and also coin and food to those he speaks with. It would be clear the priest is willing to talk to anyone, regardless of who they are or what they look like. While some may get an odd look or two, the priest makes no direct remarks, focusing on words shared. He does not engage in any pretense, being oddly open. Afterward, he can be seen heading to the Winding Way to leave a note there and then leaving a note with the Ebon Blades mercenaries at their keep as well. One can easily assume that the priest knows eyes are watching and that he does not mind it.

The same priest clad in grey can be seen heading into the Winding Way and have a private conversation with Mag. The meeting seems to have gone well as over the next days; he can be seen more often around Soubar and setting up a tent which is claimed as his own. It would soon enough be relatively known that he's Kazimir Resnik, of the Rider of the Wind - or the Helping Hand - which is a term he prefers when he offers direct aid. From the tent, whenever he is around the settlement, he offers healing services, curse removals (from imagined or real curses), vague divinations, penning letters for those who can't write themselves and delivering letters and minor parcels on routes he travels on. He would prefer magical healing instead of stitching people (or whatever beasts they might be) together by hand, but if he needs to, the work is rough.

It would be apparent that Kazimir doesn't care who seeks him out, be they man or beast or a mix of both - or even odd aberrations. He's not much for asking unwanted questions as to how any injuries were gained or anyone's life story. He does, however, listen if anyone wishes to speak and appearing to be content to give spiritual advice should it be sought without condoning anyone's life. He's not a priest who sees it that his life's work is to offer redemption, only to make people feel at somewhat peace with themselves on life's road if peace if what they seek. His demeanour would always be rather calm, his voice quiet whenever he speaks. The services offered aren't free, however. Coin or favours are expected in return.

(( Relevant info, some for PCs to observe:
Hidden: show
- His unbuffed 24/7 intimidate is 23, and he carries himself with an air that indicates that he would protect himself if anyone tried anything offensive or to steal from him.
- Heal skill (buffed with Heroism) is 11 (21 with a +10 heal kit, which is what he typically uses). So, rough mundane healing - yep.
- He can cast Regenerate, Greater Restoration and all those spells.
- His tent will always be trapped. Never with anything dangerous, more to let him know if anyone has been there. (PM if any PC tries to, include Arrakeen.)

DM Arrakeen wrote:At first, the leader of Soubar observed the priest's comings and goings. Once she was convinced the man would keep his word, she responded in kind - making sure the locals knew that he had her blessing to provide the services. Mag made it known that should Resnik be assaulted she would not take kindly to such unless, of course, he brought that on himself by his own doing.

The local menagerie, men, beast, and all the in-betweens, regarded the priest with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity. It was no surprise that the first to overcome such feelings were those of more humanoid appearance. They spoke little; some preferred the rough handling over divine magic, and they all paid what was asked of them with a very little haggling.

A young woman with raven hair approached the recently set up healing tent in Soubar. As luck would have it, the priest was attending it at that moment. They conversed for a while, appearing to have at least been acquainted. The observant would notice that two pouches were handed over, with one returned, and then given back again over a period of time. The woman received a medical examination outside the tent with hushed conversation following.

Others came by to the healing tent, none seeking healing. The priest didn't appear to mind this but when things got hostile between two parties he seemed adamant about pointing out that "This is the tluining healing tent" and that they could take their business elsewhere. On more than one occasion, he held back the young woman from getting into trouble herself by grabbing her arm. At one point, the young woman seemed to make a grab at the priest's behind, perhaps in a joking way, to which her hand was held and twisted, likely bruised afterwards. After the priest himself left to tend to something, there appeared to be a scuffle of sorts between some who had been around the tent.

Early in the next day, the priest sought the young woman in the Winding Way. He didn't appear to be the bringer of good news in the hushed conversation. After a while, he would draw her closer to himself, as if to offer her warmth and comfort. When more words had been said and something planned, he would leave her in the booth to sleep but not before grabbing a blanket from one of the bunks and draping it over her. As he left, he would give Mag a bit of a helpless look. Later on, the young woman could be seen on the road to Baldur's Gate, the priest being her escort.
