a Half-Celestial by the name of Xarchius swoop down with his beautiful angelic wings and visit the front. It is rumoured that he is hunting one of the Devils attack Chieftain and left some of the leftovers army for the defenders to deal with. The servant of Lady Red Knight fight alongside other knights and volunteers repelling attacks with their weapons, will and guts.

Alone on the frontlines, Naryl allows his head to lull onto his chest, while slipstreams of Sendings permeate the normal quietude of a wizards mind. Mentally responding to wordless motes of inquiry from various minds around the Sword Coast, there is a palpable atmosphere of calm this eve. The smell of burned foliage and acrid ozone offers nothing but the reminder of yet another missed skirmish. Perhaps the devils new a talented wizard was visiting the war theater, and waited for him to leave before engaging the defenders? Naryl new nothing, but the suspicion remained present.

At a touch from arcane training, the signature imprint of his current wards crystallized in his mind. He was confident that he could turn back the stray Spinagons or the witless rampaging troll that had been known to charge the almost depressing barricades that marked the edge of the frontlines. Anything more enthusiastic would put his skills to the test, even with the array of spells at his command, there'd be no guarantee that success and victory were within reach. Several times while he had been present, lesser skirmishes had broken out. Goblins on Worg-back had charged the ramshackle panels of wood and steel. Though the victory had been won with limited expendature, Naryl couldn't shake the feeling that such engagements were more for the tactical information the devils learned by watching. He reviewed his memorised dweomers, spells designed to banish or dismiss the lemures and spinagons, while variations of flame arrows and lightning bolts keyed to the elemental aspect of acid and corrosion lay expressed in his mind visually as wisps. The triggering ciphers that activated these spells bristled at recognition, as if anticipating his usage. He pulled back, in no hurry to expend precious components for the mere visual glory that magic had so often been married to.

A light rain fell, and the campfire that so generously provided light and warm began to splutter. He moved into the tent. And waited, as he did so many other nights, and likely will for many nights still, until this conflict comes to an end.

"Tell yer what, ol' Arnyle will go an' bless th'other side o' the bridge, and keep an eye out for any nasties crawlin' up t'yer backside, heehee!"

The elderly man would wait long enough for any type of response from the officer before moving off out of the fort with a stride full of purpose...

A multitude of necrotic sights seem to spring up over time around the outskirts of the winding way during each night fall. Large pillars of bones and gore spring up from the ground as the area around the bone pillars soon govern their own negative aura of desecration. Slowly the dead rise up from within these sights gathering in number to then set upon both hell-spawn and humanoid alike with hesitation. The undead only gather in number and strength as time passes as these sights lie untouched and un-purged of their dark energies.

"Rise up again, those who have failed the test of time. Rise up and heed my call to thus be given a second chance to walk the maze of life once more. Be judged by your resolve and tested of your will to walk again in the land of the living. May Ubtao be your judge into the after-life for wench you are soon to fall once more only to rise up and be judged yet again until you pass the test of time. For you are no more. . . You seek death."

A lone cat arrives at the fort in winding waters running, with a mouse in it's mouth, the cat places the mouse at the feet of the Flaming Fist officer at the door, gives him a meow and then runs as fast as it came.

That same day, later, a hin, two elves, some animals and an elder water elemental are seen planting trees and watering them on the southern, less damaged part of the frontline.

Late one evening, a slim looking male wearing a black-hooded cloak and blue-ish tunic can be seen pinning a small piece of parchment to one of the posts near the blacksmith. Once the parchment was secure enough on the post, the male would stare at it a moment, adjust a satchel under his arm, then lift his slender shoulders in a faint shrug before exiting the fort and wandering off to the south.

The note would be pinned in half, but still easy enough for anyone to read...

To whomever reads this,

Kindly inform Isabella of Candlekeep that her reticent blue-cloaked friend has, regrettably, decided to take a leave of absence from his "recruitment", and this "war"... at least until someone in charge of this debacle is able to elaborate upon, or even enact, any plan that is more pro-active than 'standing idly behind a fence and waiting to be trampled to death, whilst being subjected to an apparent slow decay of reason and temperament by its defenders', that is. There is only so much idleness, and the inevitable bickering inspired by such, that any sane individual should be expected to endure, after all.

The Tiefling women, Inanis Umbra, came to visit the frontline once more.

Unhindered by any attacks, she was able to ask several questions in regards to the nature of the attacks, the attackers, the type of fiends involved and more.
Taking several notes from the more veteran front-line defenders... the self-proclaimed "Fiend expert" took a short lay of the land, along with three others.

Upon her return, she excused herself... seeing taking closer looks at her notes, in particular; The Paeliryon who had been sighted in the Misty Forest, some time ago.

Hoppy Toadmeadow has been asking anyone who she encounters if they had seen Mister White Knight (Ulric Wester) since his disappearance after the last attack. She would explain that during the attack there were portals being opened by something called a Brachina, and that she wasn't sure if he was kidnapped or stolen into the skies by a winged humanoid.

A heavy assault on the Frontlines, begun when the Herald of Hellsteel Tower, Lamazeeza, approached the barricade seeking to parlay was attacked, took place today. Hellsteel devils attacked in person in great number, doing extensive damage to the barricade and defensive ditch. At one point it looked as though they might make it to the fort but they were pushed back by a coalition of defenders.

Notably, one elven mage used magic to close one of the portals that the devils assaulted through. The others had to be destroyed by blade and spell - as the portals seemed to be constructed not just by magic, but also by steel. Perhaps explaining some of their strange functioning.

General Scar is heard to say:

"Barricade's down again. Jalib's got some work to do. Well done all."

During the last week, Jalib is rarer seen around the barricades, taking any opportunity to spend time away from the front and even spending one whole day awol. Some might have heard his rant about "court arses" and "assault delayed" which lowered his morale, although he still answers the call everytime the frontline is in danger.

"Ah, f#ck, not again..." — were his words as he stumbled upon abovementioned sight this night.
Losing no time, he got to work (as well involving a few volunteers), and by the next morning, the barricades were standing once more, visibly falling apart, but working. The tiefing claimed that this defense is rather a symbol at this point as soon there's going to be proper fortifications around (including his own watchtowers as he claimed).

In the aftermath of yet another assault on the makeshift defences that comprise winding way Suton Dykes of the King's Tear Emporium, tired and worn from the terrible days before, does his best to bring hope to this who feel they can still fully support the Flaming Fist effort. "In these tough times we should not judge any who falter at this stage, I mean there are some terrible creatures out there." He looks meaningfully to the untamed and threatening north.

He reassures them he and his company are still engaged in the business of getting the defences up to a proper standard. That they and their many supportive partners will get the forts built. "Till then we who care must tough it out." he adds. He offers to deliver fresh food and refreshments to any who remain to support his watch there.

He tries to attract the attention of an artist to sketch a likeness of himself staring north over the broken barricade but they are busy painting a pile of Devilish remains for some Flaming Fist Sergeant.

Two dark clad individuals of obvious Tiefling descent stop by the Winding Water Fort and exchange pleasantries with the Lady Erza, the Guide of Candlekeep Isabella, an unknown woman of obvious Aasimar descent and Lieutenant Thedran briefly before heading north toward the ruins of the town and the front lines. Some hours later they return and discuss what they found while scouting the front lines with some of the group manning a barricade before heading back to the fort.

Presenting themselves in front of the Guardsmen as Finneaus Du'Veil and Karah Goodman they request to speak with someone in charge to report upon several findings while scouting the front lines....
