Under a starry winter sky, Selune in her waning phases, the sleepy lights in the windows of Nashkel were slowly winking out, one by one. Snow from the previous day still clung stubbornly to the eaves and shadows of the buildings, though the river had thawed just enough to flow again, the gentle sounds of the cascading water lulling the town into a sense of serenity and peace that was long overdue, even if only for a night.

The streets were emptying, save for a few armed patrols on either side... and a pair of figures heavily bundled against the cold and dragging laden packs and a crate between them, heading south along the main road from the Northern Lights Inn. A man donning a gray coat and a feathered hat led the way, followed close behind by a shorter young woman, wrapped in a thick fur scarf and black leather overcoat. Their stay and business in the troubled mountain town seemingly having come to an end -- to hear the innkeeper tell it, they had left rather unexpectedly, the woman in a mood that had been in stark contrast to her typically vivacious, cheery, and overall pleasant demeanor -- they hauled the belongings with which they'd come rolling into town alongside the White Vanguard on south to the wagon.

They greeted the patrols they passed cordially, and accepted all manner of well-wishes, but never lingered to talk for long. Within the hour, the wagon driver had helped them load their things, and with a crack of the whip, bore them northward.

A crimson-coated Knight of the Radiant Heart, and a heavily armoured Squire of the same Order were seen moving South toward the Cloudpeaks. If asked, the Knight explained having heard a rumour of dead, and undead dragons high in the mountains; that she was a Cleric of Tamara, her companion bore the sigil of Lendys. They continued into the mountain pass, so the Cleric could sanctify the dead, and consecrate the sullied ground.

On the 3rd of Alturiak, representatives of House Divine would gather to meet with Mayor Ghastkill, of Nashkel, to present their findings on a larger threat that has loomed beneath the surface of the crisis that currently grips the region.

For their effort House Divine was granted lodging in Nashkel, courtesy of the civil authorities, as a headquarters to continue their investigation. The House banner would visibly dance in the wind outside their lodging.

A weary halfling wearing burnt clothes covered in dust and web might be seen making his way down the Cloudpeaks. He makes a short pause in Naskhel to pick up his belongings before getting back on the road.

On the 18th of Alturiak, a warband of elves fought their way through the Uldoon Trail, where the peace of the land was disturbed by the blight of the undead. The local wildlife fled, as the rotting army seemingly aimlessly wandered through the fields, except of two encounters, where the elves intercepted and successfully crushed a bigger group of the walking dead, that led by a lich. The incident was reported to the officials of Nashkel, adding that no signs were found about where the undead came from, but the lich was at least banished - for now.

The rescued family

Rumours talk of a couple of elves, one showing evident draconic traits, teleporting in the middle of Nashkel with a family of four.

It is said that the family has been saved from the coming war in the Western Heartlands.

The father, mother and two children would be entrusted to the Everwatch for protection while they take their time to start a new life in Amn and give their son time to recover from quite a serious sickness.

Members of the Vanguard, Rocky Creek, and Bladestone emerge from the depths with freed captives of the subterranean. Among the effects withdrawn was a damaged and blood stained darksteel chestpiece bearing a sigil of a skull with tendrils for a mouth. The three groups part ways with added mission.

A small framed woman with a purple hat can be seen fluttering around Nashkel with a large stack of flyers. She would post them on doors and notice boards for any passerby to see.

Head Watchknight Wai Li arises in her bunk at the Temple of the Guardian in Nashkel for a routine patrol around Northern Amn in a normally vigilant mood. She equips her armor, shield, and sword and proceeds to attempt to routinely bless the weapon with the Guardian's grace. While the blessing seems to perhaps work, she notices no communication with Helm as she does and her vigil is now joined with some concern. She attempts some other prayers to Helm that normally would be answered with some sign of sorts, still no answer, not even a copper acknowledgement... She grows worried... Then there are booms and explosions in the distance that even are heard within the temple walls, the ground even shakes... The Watcher Wai Li ceases her patrol and sprints towards the chambers of the High Watcher Ubina as quickly as she can... Something is very wrong and it is now a moment of extreme vigilance...

A time later, Wai Li sends out an urgent communication to all Everwatch and friends in Nashkel and throughout the Western Heartlands, when in missive form the communication is titled "The March of Vigil" and similar when posted publicly in Nashkel or Baldur's Gate...

Everwatch and Friends of Good and Law:

The Everwatch have learned this tenday that the gods have ceased to speak to even those that have devoted life and spirit to follow them amongst numerous other calamities known and not yet known. For all beings of Northern Amn and the Western Heartlands, this is a time of great concern, fear, and sorrow. Regardless, the Everwatch will rally with vigilance in a show of good and order for the region. We march from Nashkel in Northern Amn and the Temple of the Guardian to the Temple of the Shield in Baldur's Gate and back again under the banner of Helm to show that even in such dire times our watch remains as does of all those of friend to Good and Law in these lands. The Everwatch call all those of the company back to duty that are out of service or that otherwise do not have conflicting duties with platinum haste. All allies and friends of the Everwatch are also encouraged to partake in this March of Vigil. Perhaps if we show enough vigilance then the Guardian god will heed our prayers and pleas, but if not, even if communication is permanently ceased with Helm, even in secular terms we will serve his principles with extreme vigil until our dying breath. PRAISE HELM! WATCHER PROTECT US! FOR THE GOOD AND LAW OF THE REALMS!

Signed:

Wai Li
Head Watchknight
The Everwatch
Paladin and Watcher of Helm

//We will be doing a March of Vigil IC at 19:00 GMT on Saturday, July 2 and 23:45 GMT on Sunday, July 3, both days. Excited to RP with all Everwatch and friends of the Everwatch that can make it OOC/IC in this amazing and epic time for the server!//

Fleeing from the chaotic lightning storm in the vicinity of the Belching Dragon many members of the Whitewood Vanguard, including Dunn, help with the evacuation of Nashkel during the height of the chaos. After, they help to protect the displaced citizens until the danger of the electrified wood and stone of the valley village dissipates.

A barely-conscious woman was carried into the Northern Lights Inn by a strange Elf covered in golden scales. The female Air Genasi accompanying him rented out a room for the three of them, then goes inside, ignoring the eyes of other patrons.

Sharp-eyed busybodies would notice the red-garbed woman's arm was twitching uncontrollably all the while: Was it poison? A strange sickness brought about by the catastrophes? A few rumors swirled about, but none of the three went out of that room after that first exchange, and even the tavernkeep was kept in the dark to their reason for their stay.
