Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
Sshamath saw a lot of activity this cycle, as two different parties of drows (one of which bearing the insignia of the dreaded House Baenre from Menzoberranzan) were seen leaving the city, most likely for another raid.
A few hours later, both parties returned, blooded and victorious, with numerous halfling prisoners in tow. Apparently, the yath and its allies conducted not one, but two revenge raids, both of which were quite profitable.
After the initial celebrations, a delegation of surface diplomats was seen inside Gloura's Wings, negotiating with a member of the Yath. They were then escorted into the palace of Qu'ellar Sshamath under the watchful eye of the Charnag Maelthra.
A couple of hours later, many agonizing screams of pain came out of the building, echoed by the celebrations of all the drows of House Sshamath who, apparently, managed to capture one of the defilers who dared to attack the temple of Lolth a few months ago.
The other surviving members of the delegation then exited the building of House Sshamath, a grim look of despair and defeat on their faces. As they silently left the Sshamath compound, Bel'iira's sadistic, almost maniac-like laughter permeated the streets nearby the Qu'ellar palace.
That, and another cry which any soul faithful to Lolth would immediately recognize...
"LOLTH TLU MALLA!"

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
Sshamath has seen a curious spike in missing persons over the last week. Alas it seems they are no one of importance, mostly being those assigned to menial duties in the sewer depths and the odd mercenary or slave in those same areas. Those locals who have contact with these locations mention it in passing but it's hardly surprising to anyone.
It's probably nothing to worry about.
Vile things are afoot in the realm.

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
According to rumors, a letter was sent to Weavemaster Valshar of the School of Necromancy, who in turn brought it to the attention of the Conclave. The councilors' laughters could be heard from quite the distance, apparently finding the contents of the letter amusing. The only councilor who did NOT look amused was, in fact, the Ulaththallar Bel'iira Sshamath, who stormed out of the council halls immediately later.
No drow dared to stand in the Ulaththallar's way, as she strode across the streets of Sshamath, her eyes flaring with rage, heading for the temple of Lolth.

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
A lone male drow returns to Sshamath, wounded and still in a state of shock. Between his ramblings, he mentions an extremely powerful being inhabiting the Netherese Ruins, and warns everybody to avoid pestering her - or crossing her domain - lest her ire be sparked anew.

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
Rumors start to circulate that the Conclave will be holding a great Magical Fair soon. Merchants all over Sshamath are already excited at the prospect of the coins they could make by attending. Further details are rumored to be disclosed soon.

An increased number of visitors to Sshamath have been reporting to the Authorities that their lawful accompanying slaves are going missing. Should one inquire into these reports, they would discover the 'missing' slaves have all been Deep Gnomes.

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
A proclamation is released from the Conclave and circulated through Sshamath for all to see.
----------------------------
----------------------------
As many cycles have passed, it would appear that within the ever-changing powerstruggle of the City of Dark Weavings, eyes have once again shifted onto the displaced drow and their value to both the city and the Conclave.
----------------------------
By proclamation of the Conclave, the banishment and exile of the drow known as Sussuri Oreb'le'i, Akornita Kilt'tar and Nawiel Jr'eine are temporarily lifted until such a time that they can appear and stand witness. Their lives as they dare enter and leave Sshamath are under the protection of the Conclave and any who would dare attack will be treated as enemies of Sshamath and punished brutally and severely.

Nawiel Jr'eine may be seen by some in Sshamath entering the School of Conjuration house under armed escort. She later may have been seen leaving the house and going back into the streets of Sshamath with a terrified look upon her face.

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
There is some commotion as a delegation from a Lolthite house, Qu'ellar Barrirahel of the city of Sschindykyn, arrives in Sshamath.
The rumours that circulate indicate that Qu'ellar Barrirahel professes a desire to acquire magical artifacts, and that they hint at great prowess at divinatory magic which could be deployed in return. Such is the word spread by the slaves they dispatch with messages to the local traders and, it is rumoured, to the Conclave.
Other rumours speak of a significant purchase of slave soldiers in the Bazaar and suggest that there might be more to Qu'ellar Barrirahel's visit than trade.
The house delegation acquires opulent lodgings in the city and, Zebeywae, Ilharess of Qu'ellar Barrirahel, is habitually seen "holding court" in the Spider's Kiss, surrounded by a numerous entourage, receiving local traders and spending lavishly.

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
Rumours spread among the commoners of Sshamath; about one of the local Lolthite houses, Qu'ellar Dev'lin.
The Dev'lins are falling out of favour with the Spider Queen!
There is proof of this, their Ilharess has lost her mind! She was seen browsing the slave markets looking to buy a consort among the orc slaves!
Maybe its because she can't tell the difference between drow and other races, because Dev'lin soldiers only on par with slavefodder!

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
House Barrirahel held court at the Spiders Kiss, meeting with various traders and delegates from other houses; including, notably, House Sshamath.
Its said that when she left, Ilharess Zebeywae seemed quite satisfied with the days proceedings.
The city is alive with rumours of House Barrirahel's wealth; which competes with talk of House Dev'lin, "the refugees", being riven by the madness of their Ilharess and their loss of favour with Lolth.

Disappearances have been occurring of late in the Darkwoods warrens. At first it was just Deep gnomes, but apparently several drow have gone missing. The Sshamath Guard are warning Citizens to avoid the area.

Re: DM Rumours of Sshamath
House Barrirahel has been seen meeting with representatives of the Conclave.
Rumour soon spreads that the Conclave required the Barrirahel trade delegation's special expertise at divination and travel through the wilds. Something the other Lolthite houses in Sshamath had been unable to provide.
And rumours still spread of House Dev'lin. Its said their madness has struck them into taking up residence in the Darkwoods along with all the rothe. Its said that the other Faithful of Sshamath shun them now, as the falling house they are.
