Background:

After his birthmother died during labor, the monks of a nearby temple took Misarisotodarian in and cared for him until such time that he came of age. While in the temple Soto, as his fellow students called him, learned the art of the open hand technique. With his celestial traits Soto excelled in the physical training the master taught at the temple. This sometimes rubbed the other students the wrong way, especially the older students, and they would put bugs and other nasty things in his food or take away his clean clothes and impede with him finishing his chores. None of this was ever brought to the masters attention, or if he knew he never acted upon it and despite these things, Misarisotodarian always held on to the teachings of Master Lu-Tse. Avoid deceit, cruelty, and unkindness. Always help the weak. Never despise the poor. Always respect your self.

As Misarisotodarian came of age, he had perfected the open hand technique and was eager to learn more. Master Lu-Tse sent him on a journey into the Toadsquat Mountains to a isolated cave temple to learn more advanced techniques.but instead of finding the cave Lu-Tse sent him to, Soto found a forgotten shrine. There he found fundamental teachings of maintaining balance and few mention a deity so powerful he stands to hold the world in balance. Known as Ao, the overlord Soto has found someone whom he can believe in, and by his actions hopes to assist maintining the balance between good and evil, order and choas. And as such he hopes to find any surviving texts mentioning the Overlord.

It is the rumour of one of these scriptures that brought him to the swordcoast, he has been searching for a long time and has been going after it by himself all the time. Only recently has he begun working with other adventurers, and on one such occasion he met Qin, master of shadows and monk of the order of the balanced hand. It could not have worked out better if he had planned it himself. Though sometimes ridiculled for believing Ao can bring true balance, Soto has not given up his ideals of following the path of balance.

And perhaps in time he will find that the gods are not what churches and temples make them out to be. But fickle and petty grasping beings, playing tricks on their worshippers for their own amusement.

Goals:
- Seek out all scriptures and texts containing notes on Lord Ao
- Seek balance in good and evil
- Seek balance in order and chaos

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
- Pre times of Trouble Ao has not been trying to remove himself from all documents in existance, so some scriptures
would be less interesting to most, but would hold great value to Soto.
- Establishing a shrine to Ao
