As the morning sun crests the hillside, deep within the Wood of Sharpteeth the young elven girl prepares for her day. As the rays of the sun hit the droplets of morning dew, she smiles enjoying the beauty that nature provides….

It had been a long journey from the High Forest, but one she was happy she took. Silas, her teacher and friend, had taken the journey as well…albeit reluctantly. She still chuckles remembering all of the grumbling and curses spat over the course of the trek. He had taken her in after her village was burned to the ground during an Orc raid. She had barely escaped with her life that day, only to be reborn as a hunter of the orcish tribes. Silas found her in this feral state, unkept appearance and a burning hatred within her heart. He had shown her the path of nature…of balance.

Now she is hundred of miles away from her past…to begin again. Peace in her heart and a respect for nature, her beauty and her bite. Ever weighing her decisions carefully… She knows that like an arrow in flight, once an action is taken it is impossible to reverse its outcome. You must make your decisions carefully, as they may have an impact that exceeds the one you had wanted...

The meeting…

A wind blew across the clearing along the Unicorn Run. Silas and Krisyl’lyn were both crouched behind the large fallen oak, watching the caravan pass. The voices of men could be heard, yelling and carrying on as the wagons rolled along the path. It was then that she heard it. It was soft and weak...barely audible above the sounds of the caravan. But she knew she had heard it.

“Did you hear that Silas?” She spoke in the flowing tongue of the elves. Silas just nodded once in acknowledgement. Her eyes then trained upon the covered wagon in the back of the line. The sound had come from there, no doubt about it.

Scanning the area she counted seven men. Seven men that she would have to deal with in order to get to that noise. Pulling an arrow from the quiver across her back she slowly started to slide from behind the fallen tree when Silas grabbed her arm.

“I’ll pull most of them away.” he whispered softly, “You deal with the rest and save the trapped one.”

Krisyl’lyn gave a firm nod as Silas changed form into that of a winter wolf and charged out to the gathering of men. Breathing his cold breath upon the first killing him instantly, he pulled off and ran for the wood on the other side of the clearing. The men yelled to one another, grabbed up weapons and gave chase. Leaving only one behind to guard the wagons.

Whispering a prayer to Solonor, she kept low and approached the lone guard. The man towered over the young elf by four feet, but all of the size and strength couldn’t break the hold from the spell she had spoken. Stone had come up from the ground and encased the man, unable to move or yell out to his companions. Confident that she was safe for the time being she swiftly moved to the covered wagon. Pulling the canvas back, her eyes opened wide as she saw a magnificent sight. It’s fur was the color of pure snow with spots across the back of her coat. Eyes as blue as the summer sky.

“Fear not, I mean to free you.” She spoke to the snow leopard cub. “I will get you far away from these men, then you do as you wish..” The elvish words fell from her lips upon the ears of this small creature, they were returned with a long drawn out purring sound. “Quickly, before they return.” A small hunting knife appeared in her hand at that moment and she cut the leather strap that kept the cage closed.

Crashing could be heard through the forest behind them as the young elf and the leopard put distance between themselves and the wagons. Screaming filled the quiet forest valley and then….silence.

Hours had passed before Silas once again returned to the elf. A smile fell upon his face as he saw the cat for the first time laying on Krisyl’lyn’s lap, sleeping soundly.

“Quite the specimen ye got there.” Silas said with a wink. “What are your intentions?”

“To free it of course. It isn’t mine to keep.” She stated with conviction. “I will give her a meal and a warm fire to sleep beside this night. In the morning…Icicle can do as she pleases.”

Silas let’s out a chuckle. “Icicle, huh? Did it tell ye it’s name or something?”

Krisyl’lyn just rolls her eyes at the Hin druid as she strokes the sleeping leopards back. “Oh hush up, you old dog!” She lets out a small laugh as Silas goes off to get firewood for the night…

Krisyl’lyn had heard rumors along the trade way that the xvart from this village worshipped some sort of beast. Her curiosity always getting the best of her, she had to investigate. She was unaware of the danger that this expedition would bring...

She steadied the rhythm of her breathing as she leveled off her arrow on the xvart scout. Whispering a prayer to Solonor she let the arrow fly. The silent messenger of death stuck the unsuspecting archer in the throat with a resounding thud. Unable to call for help over the lifeblood escaping , he could do nothing but hold his neck until the darkness took him…

Three more xvart emerged from the thickness of the forest just then. The huntress had no time to clear the still flailing corpse from the path. Without thought, she drew two arrows from her quiver. Laying her bow on its side, she fired the two arrows at once. They struck the xvart warriors that stood on the left and right of the one in the middle, plunging deep within their chests. The lone warrior turned to run but was confronted by a large cat blocking its path. Before the warrior could move the cat silenced him forever, pulling it from the path to the bushes nearby. Krisyl’lyn did the same with the others clearing the path so that none would know what had happened.

Returning to the safety of the trees, the young elf whispered to the leopard. “Perhaps we should turn back..”, she said in a flowing elven dialect. “I do not wish to kill the whole village just to see the beast.”
The leopard just looked at her with it’s large deep blue eyes and nudged her back, away from the village. “You are right, Icicle. Let’s find supper and return to camp… I’m sure Silas is grumbling about his stomach doing the same.”

The two, hunter and cat, disappeared back into the wood and made their way to the Sharpteeth. Collecting mushrooms and roots along the way. As well as a few plump rabbits for the stew that evening. Selune was climbing into the night sky when they returned to camp. They were both met by a grumpy hin and the phrase.. “It’s about damned time!”

Preparing for the hunt...
The full moon was fast approaching. She had to prepare a trophy, a tribute to The Keen Eye. She sat by the fire, carving druidic runes upon the shafts of her arrows…whispering prayers to Solonor. As her prayers became almost rhythmic, Icicle began to pace the perimeter of the camp. The leopard’s only thought was to keep Krisyl’lyn safe while she was in this trance-like state.

“Solonor guide these vessels of victory over my prey. Infuse them with your will, so that they might strike true and provide my target with a quick and merciful death.”

Once the final words were spoken and Krisyl’lyn back from her reverie, Icicle moved in and pounced on her nuzzling in upon her lap.

“We are ready now my friend. Tonight’s hunt will be prosperous, I’m sure.” The elven words fell from her lips like a melody on the wind. The leopard looked at her with understanding. They enjoyed a few more minutes by the fire before taking off into the night…

Deep in the Misty Forest

She had fallen in the Misty Forest to an onslaught of orcs. The elven maiden Sehlanna had recovered her fallen body and, with the help of others, whisked her away to a hidden elven village. After recovering from her wounds, she quickly set out to see if her leopard "Icicle" had fared better than her. To Krisyl'lyn's surprise Icicle was waiting for her just outside the gates of the village. Pacing back and forth, occasionally letting out a roar.

"I am glad to see you are ok, Sister." Krisyl'lyn said with much love in her voice. She knelt down and wrapped her lithe arms around the leopard and squeezed her tightly. Tears of joy welled up in her eyes and she kissed the large feline on the head. "I don't know what I would do if I ever lost you.."

As they sat in the shade of an ancient tree, playfully wrestling around they were approached by an elf named Mendel. The two talked for some time about the forest and the village that rested in the safety of the canopy. He gave her permission to make camp outside the gates for as long as she liked. Still being on the mend, she accepted his offer and made camp by the pond. Mendel was called away as Krisyl'lyn began making camp.

She built a makeshift lean-to out of some fallen branches and draped some of her furs over the top. She then laid back and listened to the waterfall crash into the pond and smiled. "I think this will do, Sister." Icicle rested her head on Krisyl'lyn's stomach and began to purr. "I knew you would agree...", she said as she stroked the leopards fur.

The Return of a Friend

After leaving the Misty Forest, the young huntress continued south for days before reaching the outskirts of the Friendly Arm Inn. She caught wind of a rumor that was being passed along from mouth to ear.

“Could it be, Icicle?” She said to the snow leopard at her side. “It sure sounds like him.”

The rumor had been that someone had spotted two white wolves roaming The Wood of Sharp Teeth, with noses to the wind as if looking for something. Krisyl'lyn thought back four years to the time she arrived on the Sword Coast. She had stayed at a camp the huntress and her mentor Silas had made deep in the wood. Back then Silas would run with his companion through the woods, killing as many orc as they could find. They were both white wolves.

She and her feline friend made haste to the area they once used as a camp within The Wood of Sharp Teeth. There she would set camp once again. In the spot where it began upon the Coast. To a place that the old druid had taught her the ways of nature. Both its beauty and vengeance.

“We will stay here for a few days, girl...” She said to Icicle as they both settled in to camp. “Maybe they will return to this camp. I do hope it's him...” Krisyl'lyn took off into the woods to find food for supper and Icicle crawled within the fur covered lean-to and took a nap.
