Pages of darkreed papyrus are strewn about the floor, as if they had fallen out of a poorly bound book. The ink seems to glow a dull purple, and the words are written in the drow language.

"War is the ultimate expression of individual power, and only through battle and death can one realize the respect of one's comrades. Hone your fighting skills constantly and teach those who will follow into the fray. Never give or receive quarter, and die amidst the bloodlust of battle against overwhelming odds. Cultivate as many different weapon tricks and combat maneuvers as a spider has arms, and never fear that hidden venom, like a secret vengeance waiting to strike, will serve you ill."

My name is Lorrdyn Ty'Rual. I am the second-born noble son of Matron Valyss Ty'Rual in the city of Nuiladzantum. Though an extensive history of House Ty'Rual and Nuiladzantum was taught to me in my younger years, it is not important to my story. As the elderboy, my brother Darzhoul was placed in the arcane school of Sorcere. He had gained much respect as a necromancer, and Matron Valyss saw to it that I should not follow in his footsteps as a wizard. Instead, I was taught the arts of warfare.

My training as a warrior started early, soon after I learned the innate powers of my heritage I was learning how to use a blade. Xunlara, a spider knight of Lolth taught me the ways of combat, in mind and in body. As a male, I was also expected to be obedient and disciplined, to which I was given a strict code that I should follow even now. The simple tenets are an ambiguous set of rules to worship Lolth, follow the matron, hate all, and remember the rules of the Council. The other tenets of my code are engraved and embraced deep within myself, as well as the dogma of Selvetarm which I have followed since I discovered it in the house library. I've written it in my journal to serve as a reminder of who I must be, and how I must serve Lolth.

Xunlara taught me daily for many years, by the desire of Matron Valyss, to become a disciplined fighter of Selvetarm. She granted me a katana, a weapon that she brought from her homeland in the eastern part of Faerun, as a parting gift when I was ready to become a true drow warrior. After training at home for many years, it was finally time for me to enlist in Melee Magthere.

Leaving House Ty'Rual behind me, I focused on the first major important task of my life, the Magthere. It was a small institution in comparison to Sorcere and Arach-Tinilith, though there were many eager bodies to serve as students. For years, we were drilled in tactics and regimen, though the techniques were left for us to learn on our own. In that sense, I was fortunate to have prior training from Xunlara, I was able to defeat many of the other students, if not all of them. The Sut'rinos of the Magthere saw my potential, and out of jealousy or spite sent me on a task that would ultimately be the end of my time in Nuiladzantum. I was sent alone into the Underdark.

I was to find a nearby Eilistraee shrine and report back to the Sut'rinos. The shrine was surprisingly easy to locate, while I followed a group of half-drow out of the city. The journey behind them led me ever towards the surface, at times climbing steep stairways carved in stone. When finally I caught a glimpse of the shrine, it seemed almost beautiful. Thinking I was unnoticed, I watched the strange infidels dancing and singing in the nude through a grotto of fungal growths. Disgusted by the foolishness of their kind, I decided to turn back with my report... and then I was struck down by the flat of a silver blade.

When I awoke from a strange vision of Selvetarm, a demon, and a celestial, I found myself on the surface world in the middle of a forest. With no sense of direction, I searched hopelessly for any means to re-enter the underdark. After several days of hunger, thirst, terrible sunlight, and extremely cold nights, my chance presented itself in the form of a human spice caravan traveling on a nearby road. With what I know of the spice trade in the underdark, and the appearance of this caravan, I decided to follow them.

Through luck or by Lolth's will, the caravan entered the Underdark and led me to the city of Sshamath. I immediately made my way to the nearest tavern, the Gloura's Wing, and rested with the knowledge that this will be my home for now."


OOC: Lorrdyn is a lawful evil fighter that is disciplined and strives to conquer any trace of fear within him. He also uses fear to intimidate his enemies, by bullying around, or sometimes simply giving them a cold stare of death. He wields a katana, and hopes to perfect his skill to become a weapon master or a sut'rinos of melee magthere. He follows the law of Sshamath, but wishes for the Lolthite members of the city to return to their former glory. His ambitions are mostly in the interest of typical Lolth society, killing disbelievers, upholding tradition, and proving himself to the Spider Queen.
