Nari Chizuru, the Fire-Head

Unread post by Narijika »

((A few quick notes: I'm totally stealing Solus' format, and I'm sorry for my TERRIBLE knowledge of Faerunian lore, I'm still new to it. Now with that out of the way...))
((Secondly, turns out the format -isn't- Solus', but I'm still giving him credit because it was his profile I stole it from. :P))

Companion - Does not lead, loyal to allies and friend to the end. Always supportive.
Explorer - The name speaks for itself. She was born to run. ((Thanks Bruce Springsteen!))
Innocent - She has very naive views of the world and always hopes for the best in people.
Martyr - She would die to save the lives or well beings for another, even a stranger. She's drawn to throw herself in the way of danger for the sake of other and her beliefs.
Simple Soul - She loves the small things in life, such as meeting new people around a fire. She feels those are what make life as full as it is.

History ((no, not a lesson!))

Nari Chizuru, Born from a combination of Human father and a Firesoul mother. A Human peddler and his fiery companion. She was birthed in the extravagance of Waterdeep but 'twas not her home. The road was to be her home with a traveling trader as her father. Always roaming from village to village, city to city, hamlet to hamlet. Our parental couple did do the young child good however. They emphasized the importance of communication, teaching her as many languages as they could. She soaked it up like a sponge and loved it. All the traveling does start to take a toll when one has no stable place to call home though. She never could hold friendships, not only with her obscure appearance, but with time granted to her, always moving, never staying in a single place for over a week. This continued on for many years, the ritual of the road, the temperance of travel. Vanishing from one place only to appear in the next stop. She didn't let it drag her down however. She was with her mommy and daddy, she'd be happy no matter what.

One eve while on the road south from Mirabar. Her and her two protects were finally faced with an intense confrontation. Bandits at their campsite. I won't go through the details since 'tis a rather traumatizing experience for Nari, but needless to say, her parents did find her. The, at the time, ten year old girl, was crying her eyes out, sitting next to a pile of charred corpses. All she wanted was a hug.

From that moment on 'twas like she was driven, to what purpose? Even she still has no idea, but she was driven. As though she hand a guiding hand behind her, or someone granting a path before her. Fire seemed to appeal more and more to her, not only because she found herself similar with it but just it's nature.

She found her faith. Her God.

Kossuth.

Though at many times she seems to be more like a follower of Sune, she's compelled to Kossuth, drawn to the warmth of his fiery embrace. Just like her mother. Her mother became her teacher in terms of faith as well, and her father became her teacher in morals. He was a follower of Sune. So it all makes since.

By the time she finally came of age, she was drawn to the South, the places she had yet to travel to. The hope of holding friendships, helping those who can't help themselves, bringing the fiery touch of purity. She -had- to leave. Her parents fully understood.

Baldur's Gate. A stranger in a strange land, putting to the test everything she was taught. It was glorious. Seeing the same faces day to day. Seeing the same routines day to day. It, for the first time, felt like home albeit with out her loving parents, but home. Soon she found herself unable to continue on with her journey was she arrived at this awe inspiring city. All the new faces she's met, all the friends she's made, all the new adventures she's had.

It only grows from here.

Gareut - She would do anything...
Jack - A true heartie.
Genesis - She cooks the best fish.
Thoim - Her first Dwarven friend. One of her closest friends in general.
Selis - Her hero and (temperary) teacher. She can do anything. Sing, dance, play instruments.
Jonas - She respects him well for his kindness and for fighting the good fight.
Ivaris - The first person she ever danced with.
Meri - She looks up to her as an inspiration for the world. Always thinking of others.
NaiRe - The first druid she's ever met, a great adventuring companion.
Kastella - Miss Blue. Mysterious yet seen as a friend.
Yastiang - A Kossuthian Monk, friends through faith.
Trent - One of the first people she met in Baldur's Gate.
Richo - A good adventuring friend, they met through Genesis.
Celia - Her dance partner.
Pana - The closest Firesoul friend she's made.
Saman - The first Firesoul she met in Baldur's Gate.
Grah'Thok - Her first Orcish descended friend.
Lucretia - Different element, similar heritage.
Piper - One of her first halfling friends. She looks up to him as a songwriter.
Geirard - Snowy-bearded gentleman.
Rebecca - Another Ignan-speaking friend of her's.
Zacham - An adventuring buddy.
Kaltyra - An adventuring buddy as well and nice too!
Lucavern - Any friend of Jack's is a friend of her's as well.
Nerbert - Her Gnomish compadre.
Aethor - Her newly met prancing paladin!
Michar - Her forkfishian barbarian friend.
Randallonna - Training partner and close friend.
Cirkus - Adventuring buddy and Randall impersonator.
Delphinn - Another Ignan speaking gentleman.
Alison - Her band member and energetic inspiration.

The woman departs from Randy and Kaltyra, her cheeks and under-eyes wet from fresh tears. She gathers herself as she guides herself along the road to the Gate.

Two days, two messages of grave news.

Day one:
The Firesoul, Nari makes her way down south to Beregost when she encounters two of her good Paladin friends...no...family. Aethor and Jonas. The three of them exchange words for awhile before deciding for an adventure down south to tackle a rather nasty Devil in Amn, whose nickname is still unknown to Nari's knowledge. Along the way, in Nashkel, the Trio tag up with a rather infamous woman. Randall. Despite the woman's past escapades, she is a dear friend to Nari. The three "holy ones" as so eloquently put by Randall, offer her a spot in the adventure. She agreed.

As the four of them set off South into Amn, they keep occupied with the usual traveling banter and reminiscing. After a good while of walking they finally arrive to their dubious destination. The Duergar Compound that houses all sorts of Devils and their ilk in the lower depths in the dark.

The four fought themselves down to the giant Pit Fiend at the root of the fiery caverns underneath the compound. Hacking, slashing, blunting, beating, striking, mauling, and chopping to the best of their abilities. The Fiend topples and diminishes back to the Hells it came from. As part of the agreement, Randall made off with all the fortune the beast was shielding.

After resurfacing, the Knight-Commander takes his leave from the four, leaving only Jonas, Randall and Nari in Amn and short on ideas, until...

"Happy Hugs?" The Purple Paladin inquires.
"I suppose, heh." The Genasi replies.

The now different Trio continues to make their way South along to road, further deeper into Amn. They stop just outside the Vault of the Dead.

"Here we are, the Vault."
"The Vault? The bloody hell is 'The Vault'?" Randall pipes up with the question.
"The Undead Vault."
"'Tis home to a nasty undead dragon thing too." The Fire Genasi adds in her statements again.
"The Dracolich."
"Erh...well let's go kill it." The woman gives her characteristic grin.
"To be honest, I hope we don't encounter it..."

With that, the Trio enter the undead infested area, and again, proceed to repeat their beating methods they showed on the Duergar and Devils. They continue deeper into the vault without much conversation but with trails of finally dead bodies in their wake.

"Here it is...be quick, the door closes fast."

The three steel themselves with wards and protection before rushing through the final door to charge the beast. They take Arivain's advice and rush the Dracolich.

"Hurry! To the left!" The Paladin calls to Nari and Randy as he dash toward the beastly skeleton. Nari quickly takes his orders and rushes around to the left of the beast before approaching it in hostility as well, and Randy ran around it from behind.

Darkness.

What felt like an eternity later, Nari finally opens her eyes on the cold tiles of the Dracolich's lair. She rises to her feet with the usual "Just-been-brought-back-to-life" moans and groans.

"Come on, girl, let's git ya outta here."
"Yes, with haste."

The three beaten, battered, bruised and bitten trio saunter their way to the conveniently placed portal in the Dracolich's lair and make their exit.

Air, skies, life. Relief. The trio just about collapses once outside again. Nari does her best to see that her two friends are treated properly before they continue on any trips. After Jonas and Randall are properly patched up and rested, the three take a detour to the shoreline of Lake Weng rather than risking another exhausting trip back north.

"...You're not a beast."
The Paladin purses his lips and regards Nari with his intense gaze.
"He is a beast because he chooses to shield himself as one out of fear."
The woman just sighs. "If tha's what ya think, then y'er wrong."

Eventually the fellowship finally had to break up after the arrival of Cirkus. Randall offered Jonas a bone wrapped in a distinctive, yellow cloth and hurried off. Cirkus followed after him, or so Nari thought.

Jonas buried the bone in the sand of the shoreline. He and Nari had a small conversation before he took his leave as well. Now alone, in Amn, Nari gathered herself for a walk, she chose to head south...again.

Cirkus didn't follow Randy, he was just hidden from the naked eye, he revealed himself and engaged the Genasi in conversation.
"This is all just a lie, this isn't the real Randy at all..."
"A person isn't defined by their body. A man isn't just in anatomy."
"How would you feel if Randall was turned into a horse then? You would want to change him back faster then! I need Randall back."

Cirkus too, had to leave after their elongated discussion.

The woman prepares herself for the return trip back to the coast.

After hours and hours of walking, the easily distinguishable Genasi finally reaches the Gate only to be greeted by a messenger waiting for her.
"By the look of it, you must be Miss Chizuru. I have a message of importance for you."

The exhausted woman just nods some, offering her usual cheery smile to the best of her abilities at the moment.
"Yup! That's me, what's the message."

The messenger take a deep breath, signally that it may not be the greatest of news. "It's about your mother...I was told to relay to you that she's fallen gravely ill...I'm sorry but I have nothing further."

The woman just stands there silently for a few moment, letting the information sink in as the messenger finds his way off.

Day two:
The Firesoul, Nari again, finds herself on the road south. Her expression and air about her is completely different than the other day however. Sadness, thought, distraction. She's preoccupied in her mind with how she should approach the situation with her mother, where she needs to go, how she needs to get there.

The woman finds herself just outside of Nashkel with Randall and Kaltyra, two good friends, by her once again. After a bit of discussion they head South, though Nari's still not fully present during their conversations. Her selfish concerns prevent her from fully engaging her friends.

She soon finds herself standing in front of a glowing, awe inspiring tree underground.
"I need to live this, it too bright." The Orc speaks up, finally able to draw some attention from the Fire Genasi.

After dispatching plenty of Lizardfolk, the new trio makes their way to the Duergar caves once more, just to clean out what everything was missed previously.

After plenty of combat and traveling, the trio is now in Candlekeep.
"I tried to bring up your problem with the Radiant Heart, but they hardly addressed me, it seems we're not supposed to be fighting for tolerance or the oppressed." The Genasi sighs with a tinge of uncharacteristic anger.
"See, Girl, this is why you need violence."
"Tell me how violence is supposed to solve intolerance? HOW? HOW?!"
The Orc snarls with frustration. "Then what am I supposed to do? I'm backed in a corner."
Randall is rather taken back with surprise at Nari's seeming anger. "Are ye tellin' her jus' to stay in the woods."
"No, I just want to know how violence will solve anything, I want her to be able to go anywhere without fear of being attacked or death."

The heated discussion soon died out not too long after than when Kaltyra suggested they keep moving. An awkward edginess fell over the trio as they make their way back to the Gate.

The Farmlands.

Once the three of them reached the bridge, Randy and Kaltyra spotted Leonia and kept moving, Nari however was stopped by another messenger.
"Lady Fire-Head! I have a message from Wolf-Friend."
The woman smiles some as she's not seen or heard from her love in days. As the events show, she's been occupied, another reason why she's been so on edge.
"Oh? What did he say?"
"Gareut has gone to the mountains, he says he is sorry."
The fiery-haired woman's face drops. "Thank you for the information...if you see him again before I do...please tell him I love him..."
"Noted, you have now need to worry about that!" The silver haired, Elven messenger bows before he takes his leave.

The woman then continues to make her way across the bridge to the gate, meeting up with Randall. Nari approaches the other woman silently and wraps her arms around the woman tightly and proceeds to bawl her eyes out. All the events finally catching up with her:
Her mother's sickness, Gareut leaving, her hostile argument with Randall and Kaltyra, everything finally comes out.

Just as she told Randall before, she doesn't get angry, only really sad. This shows. She composes herself thanks to Randall's efforts and takes her leave when Kaltyra rejoins them, thanking them both for their friendship. She makes her way to the Temple of Torm.
