500 fine and barred entry "seen casting in courtyard"

I just had the FAI script trigger on me too, there are three things that could trigger it I think:

1. I was buffed when I entered, however didn't cast any spell inside. (mostly to keep my Appraise buff and greater heroism on for trading)

2. I visited the temple and tried if the local healing get's rid of STR reduce, so there was a spell cast on my character.

3. I drank a potion of lesser restoration at the dwarf trader.

Did you rest and if yes do you have any abilities that activate on rest ?

I had a similar situation to DiceyCZ's. I had a few buffs up when I entered, went afk a while. One of my wards wore off, then I rested in FAI courtyard and did not re-buff. I was on my bard, so his inspiration re-activated after rest. Upon trying to leave I got KD'd on the bridge and fined 500 gold.

Yeah something is wrong... this happened to me and dagesh yesterday evening.... he cast 3 non combat spells and i didn't cast any. I got a 500 fine and booted for no apparent reason.

I did not rest while being inside, but it happened again just, now. All I did this time is went inside, sell, buy and drink another Lesser Restoaration potion and then go outside again, I had Heroism, Light and Appraising Touch on myself. I even cancelled all other spells one by one before getting inside.

Can the script distinguish between potion drinking and spellcasting? I'd hazard guess the potion was the problem.

It does not. I have already informed the Dev Team about that as I was not sure (Though they would per the descriptions of potions but at the time OOCly I didn't think anything of it!)

So it would be best to refrain from drinking any potions inside as well!

By the way, It wouldn't surprise me if you also got fined for drinking alcohol you buy at FAI. I mean, being drunk is probably a spell effect in the game.

I just got booted and fined as well. No spells cast, no potions drank, but I rested and so the Elemental resistance of my Armored Efficiency refired, and I was in a group with a Bard who had their bard song activated.

Just figured I'd throw my report onto the pile. ^.^

My polymage got fined for a Polymorph and a couple of uses of Shift Shape outside of the walls. After going inside and vendoring stuff, got slapped with the fine when trying to leave.

I didn't cast anything and got kicked out twice yesterday, along with the fine. I did have Inspire Competence up, so I wonder if that might have triggered it?

Nope, potion doesn't trigger it, nor does any bardic inspiration

I just logged in already inside the walls of the FAI with some spell effects already active. I didn't cast any spells and I did have time to make a trade with someone before I was fined and thrown out. That happened just after I got the message about how many spells I have.

So this is still happening. Yesterday I didn't cast a spell inside. I logged out, then logged back in and was inside the walls. As I was walking out, thrown out.

Only thing I was thinking was use of my bardic song (normally I shut it off before going into FAI just to be safe), this time I forgot. Otherwise, no action I took should have triggered it.

So here is my idea.....got kicked out on my Ranger too, so that eliminates the Bard idea......

I think it may have to do with UI hotbars.....although my Ranger did cast outside the Inn, there is a possibility of range issues.......

My ranger uses power attack, and I will drag it over onto my active hotbar for ease of use....

Since it was active, and in another of the 1-10 toggles, also a spell....it maybe have been received as a 'spell active' (which, it was flashing even though it wasn't an active spell)

So all I can think is, it has something to do with toggle in the active bar, and magic effects and/or spells

Possibly a UI issue with the hotbar in relation to the fine trigger?

Yup, happened to me too. Today on my ranger. Thing is I went in sold a few things, may have rested or may not have, if not I rested before entering. on the way out I got booted out on my can lol. Didn't think that much about it until later when I tried to re enter and was barred from entering.

Early this morning. Nothing cast, just rested after selling then thrown out and five hundred fine.
