IC: The Tymount Ten are rather concerned by the knight being in this state. If lessons resume, they are reassured, somewhat, but its clear they want to know what happened, and what Henryk can say about it.
Quite some days have passed since the knight-errant Henryk of house Urde, Sword of Justice and Crusador in the Name of the New Church of Tyr out Baldur's Gate, had befallen some mishap which brought him somewhat weakened, in a state, back to the Refugee Camp, where he was consoled by the Tymount Ten, those that so recently before, he had himself bolstered upward to new heights of prowess and, for some, new heights in powers of Faith.

One could say the reassurance of the students in the teacher, in this moment where Henryk was distant and as in a momentary daze, was the healing cure needed when one had experienced, as much as it could be said, a shaking of the Faith, when one may have touched the edge of Death...and one where judgement, even justice, was not in Truth, a given.

For that is what Henryk communicated, that he walked with a dream in his waking mind, of a Fate that waits for those that have their Faith severed from them as they fall in battle.

Henryk repeated to the Tymount Ten, with an honesty of the heart, that he could only place his recent days in disconnected images of the Mind...and though it was his intention to set out in adventure north, in order to reclaim treasures stolen in order to benefit the Tymounts and the Ten, he...he could not recount the space between having made way forth, and the moment in which he had returned to the Refugee Camp.

This displacement caused a disconcerting physical effect upon him, so Henryk would speak. But in the same moment, he, Henryk, would communicate that his continued existence, in the now, as it was, raised the conviction in purpose that his personal crusade in the Name of the Even-Handed was divinely protected...for it must have been the forces of chaos and evil that had stolen his knowing of the moments between outset and return...and if chaos and evil were capable of such deeds, then only doubling the Strength and Faith in the Warrior, can Justice ever prevail.

IC: Its quite an administrative process, identifying the families. Luckily the Ilmatari and Tymount's mayor quickly step in to help identify families and smooth out any ill feelings.

The clergy of the temples of Torm and Tyr happily agree to ask for aid ...

When the knight Lyonaler of the Radiant Heart enters the Temple of Tyr, he would come to find that some days prior, the knight-errant Henryk Urde had made a similar request to with the Temple and before the High Priest Eldric Sulnar, related to housing and care for particulars of the Refugee Camp.

Though many days have passed since Henryk's proposal and offering has gone unanswered, much remains unresolved as to whether the Temple of Tyr shall share funds, or set physical aid to the Pathfinder Hall...considering that the Temple of Tyr itself, may be as well, a center for shelter and requiring just as much safety...though being of a different category of social structure, then what the knight Lyonaler proposed to house in the Pathfinder Hall.

9th of Nightal, in the year of the bow 1354, by Dalereckoning.

A horse drawn wagon approaches the encampment in the first candlemark of nightfall. A trio of slender females draped in thick linen robes of a deep dark blue hue, dismount and beckon a few of the strong men located in the camp, to help them empty the heavily loaded wagon. There are several large crates containing blankets and bedrolls, and carefully sealed boxes with potions and mixtures, ointments and poultices as well as a large supply of freshly woven bandages, ritually blessed and bathed in holy water.

One of the silver haired priestesses exchanges a few words with the authorities of the encampment, handing over the key to the chest containing a hundred thousand gold pieces and a list of the inventory of the supply crates. Enveloped by hovering motes of pure moonlight she wanders in the midst of the camp, dispensing healing to those in need with a kind smile perpetually on her lips. As she happens upon a tree stump in the midst of the encampment, she gently places a lantern at its foot as she mounts it and gives an address to the camp in general and those that would hearken to her words.

”Blessed moonlight to you all on this most beautiful of evenings beneath the sea of night.”

”You luminant beings of light, like the stars above descended upon this plane.”

”And blessed we truly are, even when we struggle to realize it by the hardships of our present days.”

”Nothing happens in vain and while that may beckon the question as to why this tragedy should befall you, then rather take heart that others are spared these trials.”

”Lose not hope when faced with what is perceived impossibilities, lose not courage when faced with terrors that exceed our most dreaded nightmares.”

”For fear is the tool of the wicked and vile, it is the very essence of which they shall sate their malevolence.”

”Arm yourselves instead with hope and love, joy and appreciation for this chance given.”

”For hope is the enemy of tyrants and oppression, it is the light that shines like a beacon within our hearts.”

”The light by which darkness is best fought and thwarted. The light of luminant creatures lavishing in the beauty of existence and not wallowing in forced depravity from others.”

”Take heart as Selûne wanes above, for while the crescent moon sits in the third decan of the Swan, it is a time to labor and utilize the abundance of energy bestowed with the resolve to see it through.”

”These are omens that your ambitions shall be rewarded, new business enterprises be successful and from it reasserting each other by rebuilding homes and together, our future.”

”Each cycle must draw to an end, to herald the beginning of another.”

”Cherish and contemplate the past, yet mourn it rarely and succumb not to despair.”

”For while evil seems abundant and threatening, so too do those with benevolent hearts and intentions, strive for betterment of our futures.”

”The gods weave our destinies in mysterious ways that we may not perceive. But tirelessly they labor to bestow their will upon this plane, till we are released from this mortal coil.”

”Fill your hearts with the love and affection for each other, the appreciation that you have endured this far and arm yourselves with the compassion reflected in each others hearts.”

”As Karpri is in retrograde our hearts are filled with empathy, for all your perceived misery, you are given the will to act, whilst animals and woodland creatures alike, suffer without chance of retribution or salvation.”

”We are subtly swayed and empowered with the ability to make the best of these conditions, as Chandos is in separating sextile to the Garden, it means the aspect is increasing, that by these omens we should make constructive use of these new conditions.”

”We are brought together by crisis, yet this is an opportunity to renew and rebuild. Look to Selûne when the dark of night seems to ominously close in.”

”Darkness thrives only but for a fleeting moment, as it is cast down by light anew. And where light resides, there is always hope.”

She inhales a deep breath and offers a warm smile to those that hearken to her words. Bowing her head briefly towards the waning crescent moon perched in the nightsky above, she wanders through the camp along side her faithful sisters, emanating with an aura of calm and kindness, taking the time to speak with those that would lay their burdens before them. All throughout the night they mingle with the refugees or sit in prayer over those at rest, as dawn slowly approaches the three females join in a chant to their goddess, with soft voices rolling over the farmlands in praise of The Night White Lady, till they disperse in separate directions. The silver haired priestess carrying a peculiar lantern that shone with a hue of pure starlight is seen heading north in company of a rugged archer. Inquiries as to the nature of this donation would have been met with the vague response that She Who Guides is never complacent and neither is her following.

IC Response: The priestess' passage through the camp alleviates some of the fear of the night that lingers since the trauma of fleeing south. While some of the more traumatised turn their backs, most welcome the words of hope, and a few indeed ask for blessings.

sweetlikesplenda wrote: Sat Dec 08, 2018 8:27 pm ... Lyonaler would be seen back in the refugee camp taking note of families most vulnerable to the cold weather, those families with elderly and children especially. When families totaling up to fifty people were identified. He would begin preparing them and then move them out of the tent camps and in to the warmth and safety of the Pathfinder Hall.

Later in the day the knight would be seen entering the temples of Tempus, Torm, Helm and Tyr looking for any of the faithful willing to spend time in defense of the Hall for pay.
Word reached the knight-errant Henryk, on his most return from adventuring and acquisition of treasures taken by the chaotic and evil forces that infest the landscape both north, south and east of Baldur's Gate, that the radiant knight Lyonaler, an acquaintance in goodly deeds and acts, had visited the Temple of the Even-Handed with direct and honest request for defense for the weakest of the refugees, on route to be housed within the Pathfinder Hall within the walls of Baldur's Gate.

As Henryk's own request to the High Priest of the Temple still sat unaddressed, and with the motions happening right now among other factions, he pondered to what would be the action of this New Church of Tyr...and if the decision of action would come down from the High Priest, or perhaps even a higher source of wisdom and guidance, that being Grimjaws himself!!!

Soon after the visit to the Temple, Henryk of the Holy Judgement and acting Sword of Justice made good on his word, returning to the Refugee Camp and taking the role of swordmaster, as best as he could with his own rising skill, and continue onward with the lessons of prowess and the lessons of Faith, to the Tymount Ten.

It was after one strenuous exercise that he noticed some of the Tymount Ten seeming even more exhausted, or...perhaps preoccupied with emotions that stole energy away from the trainings. In querying his students, Henryk would put together that the Tymount Ten were aware of the actions of the radiant knight Lyonaler, and the preparations towards an eminent move...and the need for assistance during and after, the continuing safety of the weakest of the peoples in refuge.

Thus, Henryk took it upon himself to offer an idea for the Tymount Ten, to make themselves a decision freely, in wisdom of their skills and their Faith:

"You Ten...progress as you do each tenday under tutelage that at times strains you...I see your care and your concern, though you do your practice now, attempting at times to hide your distractions from your teacher. I have heard the newest of news, knowing that many of your peoples are being offered greater shelter, though...this shelter itself must remain protected, and by word it seems, what the Watch and Flaming Fist do not provide, there is open need for a dedication, in force...but I also say, in Faith.

So it is this in words that I offer you to make decision and action upon: though your training has just begun, though you may have gained in the shortness of these times beyond previous prowess, if it is in your mind to aid your peoples in a stationed defense at the doors to the Pathfinder Hall, as has been floated in request by the radiant knight named Lyonaler, than take this unto yourselves to decide to place some or all of your Ten, at those doors, and station yourself with courage and Faith, so that no harm shall come to your weakest of peoples...and more so, so that no harm shall come to any of you Ten, in your decided duty.

Such a decision shall not mean our training shall stop...as it would be, your station of defense is only footsteps away from the Temple of Tyr, and thus I, Henryk, shall still offer you guidance with your swordsmanship and, shall it be the time for your acceptance of a greater power, that you may see the truth and glory in the path of service, within the Church of the Just God."

/// Post related to the OOC request by sweetlikesplenda for IC aid to the habitation and defense of Pathfinder Hall in Baldur's Gate...which appears to be already approved. Final decision for how the Tymount Ten react left up to Golem or other DMs. Cheers.

IC: The "Tymount Ten", as they are becoming known, listen to Henryk's words. Those of the ten who are serving militia of Tymount seem unwilling to abandon their posts, and this tends to persuade the others.

"Sir Henryk" the militia sergeant Kerik says "Surely we would be best off guarding the camp?"

Meanwhile, a letter is received by Sir Henryk regarding his approach to the temple.

An altercation between camp refugees led by by Big Dog, and a small group of adventurers led by the Shady Shades, who were trading threats and insults, was stopped by the timely intervention of the Flaming Fist. The Flaming Fist representative added "It is a thing when both both adventurers and refugees have been under pressure things can get tense out there, especially with all that has been going on recently. Our people are well trained to spot signs of trouble and react quickly. Likely prompt action here saved lives. I would ask all citizens to be careful out there."

People of Baldur's Gate talk among eachothers regarding an attack on the Refugee Camp that happened several days ago. Apparently, in middle of night, a large host of Undead and Demons managed to somehow get through Flaming Fist patrols and launch a surprise attack on the refugees, killing over a dozen of them. It's said that the casualties would've been bigger, were it not for swift intervention of the defenders of the camp alongside with brave charge of adventurers right into the fray.

Tongues are wagging that the word "Orcus" is somehow connected to the entire event, and that the Flaming Fist have tightened patrols around the Refugee Camp.

Kazimir Resnik, who was seen in the refugee camp alongside Kiran and labelling vials for the refugees just before the attack, would seek out some of the Ilmatari working in the camp. He would ask them if there was more accurate figures on those who had been killed - and whether any of them had been children. He seems more interested in hearing the latter. The priest would also have been seen during the attack, healing others who rushed into the fray.

Update following the aftermath of the Attack

The camp recovers from the demonic attack upon it. A pall of fear swept the camp in the aftermath, which led to a mass exodus. Some refugees have decided to seek safety further south, regarding Baldur's Gate as the frontline of the war against the "Fiends", others have been offered work elsewhere, such as the group departing with the Rocky Creek Trading Company. Yet more are giving up their stubborn desire to return to their homes and are accepting new lives within the city. Charitable groups are assisting in this, with the beneficence of adventurers doing much to fund the Order of the Radiant Heart's efforts. These funds have allowed the Ilmatari to house the infirm refugees, others reside in Pathfinder's Hall, and the Temple of Tyr has put up another group. The Ilmatari state that if donations stay at the current level, more refugees will be able to be housed in the new year, as Duchal assistance is being received to locate appropriate properties.

The exodus leaves just under 220 refugees in the Camp. Those who remain are largely the young and able bodied. The shelters being constructed at the expense of the Darius Holding Company were damaged in the attack, but with the reduced number to house are more than adequate for the remaining refugees to live comfortably in either them, or yurt tents sourced by the Rocky Creek Trading Company. There is a grim spirit among those that remain, and indeed some seem willing to take up arms against those who sought the deaths of their friends and kin.

The Camp remains well supplied with food and medicines, and donations now are as much focused on alms and grants to aid with relocation for those who are settled in the city. Those dependent upon charity within the city approach 200, although as work is found this number lessens.

Multiple events, major and minor in scale, weave together during the last tenday...

Henryk, knight errant, the Sword of Justice of the New Church of the Even Handed, had given speech to the Tymount Ten under Tyr's Teaching, and their loyalty to their own peoples even before the soon-to-follow demonic attack, shower upon him a great feeling, a divine warmth, in seeing such dedication come from these few Ten, to the care of those less fortunate in form and fitting, than they.

His response, perhaps overheard by any within the camp and near to where these Tymountians train:

"You Tymount Ten are finding the Truth in your own selves, and I am not your captain standing here to give you orders, no...you are people of free will, and should you know your own place in this moment, than find strength in Faith to keep that guard, and keep a Just view upon your strength and best form. A brother in faith, a radiant knight and representative of the Radiant Heart that has come to your people's aid so far, as you know, did make request for Men to attend to the safety of some of your People. But in my own thoughts, I gave you this request, hopefully with weight ascribed, for it is my own view that yes, your position to guard the Camp, that which does stand weaker in protections than any building or house that sits within the Gate, is the more generous and appropriate place, for you Ten."

Henryk of house Urde, Damaran, crusader of Faith, leaves the discussion at that, since it has been said and responded to now enough, that the Tymount Ten make their choice, and thus...training resumes.

And then it happens, perhaps shortly after this interaction between Henryk and the Tymount Ten, that the Camp is assaulted by demonic forces...and though some may say they did see Henryk the Holy Crusader speaking with the radiant knight Aaron Lyonaler—in hushed tones...—at the moment the Flaming Fist arrived to warn of the breach of the farmlands by Evil, it is rumored that Henryk joined with his Tymount Ten in their wish to guard and aid the Camp, thus Henryk did not fight directly with the forces formed by knights, priest and adventures of many sorts.

Some days following the incursion...it would be seen that Henryk the Holy Crusader was assisting with what could be counted some forty-plus refugees eventually assuming asylum within the Gate proper, as the Temple of Tyr and the Temple of Illmater collaborate to provide aid under the decisions of relocation being offered by the Duchal seat.

Now and then a really large half-orc with an eyepatch wanders by the Refugee camp and places large packages on the ground by the outskirts of the camp,
they contain
fresh meat and fish wrapped in bear and wolf pelts, before leaving he says to one of the man at arms Guarding the camp cautiosly "Thok leave this for the Homeless" then he promptly walks away.

The man with a wonderful, awesome, mustache, would return as always with another batch of vials and potions, all with the usual Golden Wheel insignia and easy to follow steps on how to use the different medicines.

However this time something was odd, as one of the refugees would drink the see-through liquid this batch of the medicine had come in, they would see on the back of the label odd drawings of animals, especially the vials given to the kids. As they drank more and more of the medicine the animals would be revealed in their full glory, all from rabbits to giant lizard-like creatures, expertly drawn.

Image

There would be twenty or so of these special labels with the animals on them.

Starting at Nightfall each day Augustus Aurelius would begin to magically ward himself with a series of Divination spells, such as True Sight and Reveal Thyself and the like.

He would patrol the Refugee camps, searching for disguised Devils as well as magically scanning the Refugees for signs of possession or magical influence, dispelling it when needed and providing magic circles when required.

As he walks around the camps, he watches the people while they sleep to prevent Thieves and Bandits from coming, as well as to prevent any type of Baatezu infiltration.

He also magically purifies the drinking water, and freely removes any curses and diseases that are present within the camp.
