No, another game wouldn't be interfering with the Internet connection between the server and Small Cat's computer.

I know people have had issues like this in the past. Occasionally it just fixes itself, but often like days or even weeks later, so that's not the most reliable way to handle it. If we can think of something else that might work, that's preferred, so that Cat's not sitting out too long.

I suppose you could contact your Internet Service Provider, but not sure how much help that would be. :?

Waited a couple days. Now the 8th and 9th jump in the trace route are timing out! :P

I did move my computer to a different room, and a different router, but I didn't have trouble connecting to the server until last Friday. I moved my computer last Wednesday.

... At least I don't think I did. I can't recall if I logged on at all between the Wednesday I moved my computer, and the Friday I first noticed this problem.

Maybe it's a problem with this router I'm on, and I never did log on to the game between those days. Suppose it's time to check router settings.

I'm afraid I'm out of ideas for self-fixes. Since the issue appears to be on your end (with your Internet), I'm wondering if your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may be blocking your access to the server for some reason?

It may be a good idea to get them involved next, to check into whether they are dropping traffic to us? I know it's happened to people once or twice that their ISP just stopped letting them make the connection.

It's looking like a call to the ISP might be in order. >.<

I wonder if there's an outage somewhere in the midwest United States. There's another game I play that's been lagging horrendously for people in that same area, and they're having problems with traceroutes timing out as well. On the traceroute I'm doing, the server time outs happen after somewhere in Illinois. So, perhaps there's something weird going on in that region.

Could be. The server is hosted in Canada, so it may end up going through Illinois at some point in order to get to you.

If they indicate there's anything we can do to help you connect, just let us know. We're happy to try to get you back in game!

If the tool I wrote that you ran says that the game port was successful then network traffic does get to the server. The zombied connection in your router for that session needs cleared, usually done via resets. Do it also with the modem.

If you can click here and see BG specific text then your network traffic is successfully landing at the BG server. It's just a matter of clearing zombied entries in your router / modem for UDP sessions relative to negotiating with NWN2.

It turns out that my computer is plugged directly into the modem, no router involved. I reset it (turned it off for about half an hour, then turned it back on) and I'm still having the exact same results as before. I can see the BG specific text on that webpage.

Is there a way to manually clear those UDP entries? I don't know if there's something I've missed, I'm not nearly as tech savvy as I wish I was... :P

Could this be a result of moving my computer to a different room? As in, the game expects me to connect from the switch in the other room, instead of from the modem in the room I'm currently in?

Edit: SOLVED IT!!

It was a port conflict between Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition and NWN2. Both of them were using the same port.

I am now getting updates from the BGTSCC server!

Thanks for the help everyone! :D

(I feel very silly now, this was a much smaller problem than it seemed like)

I'm glad you figured it out! That is quite an odd problem. But hopefully we can pinpoint the issue for future players more quickly now that we know the two games don't always agree with each other!
