Guild leaders and tokens

Guild tokens are handed out by DMs and are usually not tradeable, since DMs are not available 24/7 this can be sometimes troublesome.Therefore I suggest this system, which is aimed at guild leaders.

All known guild leaders would get a useable "Guild Leader" feat on login ; when used on a PC it would grant him the guild token associated to that guild leader in case they don't already have it and remove the token otherwise.

Some guild leaders also have a special private key, that could also be taken care of, several guild leaders would be possible.

Technically the guild leader info would be stored in a database, (tied to character name, account and CD key) so no server update would be needed whenever a new leader is appointed but only a database update. A small caveat, it won't work if a PC leads more than one guild.

Would guild leaders (and maybe DMs) be interested in this ?

Are Guild Tokens still giving Skill bonuses?

It'd defiantly make guild management a lot easier, rather than having to keep checking the player list to see if a DM is on to pester them about "X player needs X guild token please." and even then, that player has to be online at the same time as any given DM.

To put it in short, Yes, I'd be all for this change.

And as long as DMs could still give our Guild Tokens (because sometimes it’s even harder to find a Guild Leader online!! :shock: ).

Otherwise it seems like a helpful addition to the Server.

would be nice to be able to hand out keys without having to track down a DM first... or having to carry a stockpile around for that same reason :P

Would it be possible to expand this to allow for guilds with either multiple leaders, or deputy leaders?

It could. If you used a menu to select which token was created, like the polymorph or summon menus... everyone could have the feat, but only people with token creation privileges could see any items in the menu.

Good point, and yes multiple leaders would be possible.

In the Enclave we have a small box hidden deep inside the guild hall that spawns 1 guild key per reset, only accessible to someone already possessing a key. I keep a number of extras on Iskra, just on the off chance that we happen to get more than one new member at once, but generally speaking this is enough for our needs and makes it so we don't have to ping a DM. Perhaps something similar could be added for other folks?

TBH, the on-demand spawning seems more convenient (doubly so since it's not bound to any given location)... Especially for Doron Amar's new "friend token", required to access the east half of the village.

That's fine and working, however there are 45 guild halls on the server and I'll never modify so many areas, guilds can contact area makers for that, systems can co-exist no problem. Also the system above would allow to remove tokens, which can be useful in some cases.

As a guild leader I would find it easier to hand out keys and tokens rather than pester a DM. When a new person is added to the guild we usually set everything up for them OOC right after their ceremony. It would be great if they could just have what they needed right then.

one of my guilds has a particular rp surrounding the creation of the guild token that gives access to the guildhall, the other half of it is also a way to destroy the token someone possesses if need be, so being able to give and take would be awesome
