Remember Baulder's Gate's spell, "Find Familiar" that you could cast as a bard (as a scroll) and you'd get a familiar? That was so fun... I had a little ferret-thing that could even pick pocket and bring back the loot lol.
Now, I don't suggest allowing familiar to pick pocket (or should they?) but I feel that bards should be able to acquire a familiar at some point... like a ranger does at level 4. Doesn't it just feel right?
I propose "Familiar Song". At level 4, the bard gains access to Familiar Song as a feat, allowing you to choose a familiar. Using on of your songs per day, summon a familiar.
Familiar field medic? Yes please!

I'll leave that open to discussion. What is your position on it? Spells, no spells, some spells based on the type of familiar?Valefort wrote:Just as a pet or truely able to cast spells with the mental link and all ?

Re: Familiar Song
I believe there was an Obtain Familiar feat in 3.5 which bards could potentially take once they are able to cast 3rd level spells.
