The Rapier of Shielding seems like out and out the best weapon a Wizard can use, since it provides an AC bonus that stacks with everything (description of Shield spell says it provides armor AC now instead of shield AC, not sure if that's accurate)
Whilst a rapier is more powerful it doesn't really fit our scholarly look. Can we get a staff with the same properties please?
The only issue I can foresee is that all Wizards would then use this staff and the model is not configurable.
Also, minor peeve: while it's fantastic that true defending weapons exist here, the Rapier is actually a +6 weapon. Defending weapons have to share their enchantment bonus between attack and defense. For every +1 AC you choose to take you have to drop the enchantment by 1.
Instead of +1/+1, +2/+2, +3/+3 maybe you could have a +1, +2, +3 and +4 AC version.

Both Shield spell and Deez's Repulsive Shadow Barrier give 1min/CL +4 shield AC. So while the rapier could be nice if you don't want to cast those, it's not necessary.
I would like to see a shield AC parrying dagger though. That'd be good for wizards and for sneaks/duelists.

Good to know. I didn't learn the spell since the description says it's redundant with Mage armor. Thanks for letting me know!

Don't you need an extra feat to wield the rapier?
Nope, Elves get rapiers for free.

Ignore this...as usual I typed first, thought later You will never be able to use it as a +6 weapon since the bonuses are fixed, so it's really no more powerful than most weapons in the epic store.

But just Elves, right? So Wizards from other races would be able to benefit from the item if it were on a staff, and Daggerspell mages would benefit greatly if it were on a dagger.

Doesn't bother me either way, it's an enchantment that can be put in a rapier it should be placeable on any weapon. Rapier's can be used with a shield or with a 2nd weapon, and do 3x more criticals so they'll always be better than a staff for 95% players.
The only spellcasters who would benefit from it being on a staff are those who can't wear light armor and use shields, who already have about -10 AC to other players.
