The Bureaucracy Convenes

Rumor spreads in Sshamath that the city's Bureaucracy political body is looking to fill vacant seats with resident representatives of factions in good favor with the Conclave. The Bureaucracy it is said will help the Conclave to administrate the City Guard, the Charnag Maelthra intelligence organization, and the City Militia against threats to the Conclave and the city by the Bureaucracy providing policy recommendations to each of these organizations, but these recommendations could always be overruled by the Magistrature or the Conclave. The Bureaucracy will be set to meet upon obtaining new membership within a few tenday it is said.

There is an official posting in various public areas of Sshamath that factional applicants interested in membership on the Bureaucracy should submit an application to the Conclave saying their applying faction name, their applying single speaking and single silent representatives, and their proof and pledge of loyalty to the Conclave. Each faction member of the Bureaucracy will be allowed one speaking member and one silent member the postings read.
((We are planning to hold a Sshamath Bureaucracy meeting on March 20 at 21:00 GMT to get some intrigue RP in the Underdark rolling for 1352. Please post here IC if your faction would be IC interested in coming.))

Bregan D'aerthe is always more than interested in information, especially when it comes to ventures that can make them coin.

It is rumored that even the representatives from the Lolthite Temple would be interested in membership, in order to change the fate of the city in good favor for it's wealth and the Spider Queen.

After a while an imp is seen posting an application to the board
The School of Necromancy will continue to serve the Conclave del'heen. Purposed speaking member will be High Necromancer L' Beldroin, silent member still currently open. We hope the School's loyalty to Sshamath is naut in question as we have done well in the regulation of necromantic activities in and around Sshamath.

An addendum will be made when we decide on the silent member.

Barbaccas leaves the school with some surprise, attend a meeting of various parties with a Bureaucratic aim? Your field experience will be useful, with your continued patrols and also duties within the Faculty as Faehlil, you'll be ideal?.

It sounded to him more like none of the archwizards could be bothered so send a Faehlil.

Still, maybe some opportunity will present itself even if it did mean hours upon hours of talking. Uggh, they better be serving some wine, good wine . .

The Bureaucracy's First Meeting Adjourns

Various residents of Sshamath are said to have attended the Bureaucracy meeting at the Conclave's Stone Stave complex in Sshamath. A few are rumored to have even stayed after the proceedings concluded to decide how to best serve the Conclave's will given the troubling topics that were said to be discussed at the meeting.

Urebril the speaking member of the cult of Ghaunadaur is said to be investigating the slime worshippers. After the meeting he had said that he would arrange a meeting with the cult in an attempt to diplomatically difuse the situation. Many Sshamath residents are suspicious that Urebril's cult is involved with the slime worshippers, But there has been no evidence.

Kabold messengers have been wandering the underdark to deliver Urebril's invitation to the cult. Urebril is spending his time at the local tavern waiting for it's return...

A male drow wizard with velvety complexion and a stark white mane which belied his venerable age was seen sauntering inside the Stone Stave complex following the first hearing's conclusion. He was garbed in decadent robes emblazoned with the stylized eye sigil of the school of illusion & phantasm and festooned with strings of colorful feathers plucked from exotic surface birds; no doubt a testament to his apparent wealth.

He is then seen conversing with a conclave official. What was said in the brief exchange is anybody's guess.

It is rumored that after some investigation by the School of Necromancy that an investigative and search party may be forming on behalf of the Bureaucracy and the Magistrature, them acting on behalf of the Conclave, to find clues related to attempted thefts at two Sshamath magical schools.

After receiving a report from the Conclave of the results of the investigation executed by the Charnag Maelthra, Beldroin begins making preparations for a trip and then compiles the information from her own investigations into a report for the Bureaucracy.
Beldroin wrote:As dos know, there have been two attempted break ins into the schools of Sshamath, one of which was the School of Necromancy. We have in our possession the remains of our late thieves and from those we were to gather a bit of information that could possibly lead to who is behind the attacks, though still naut enough to guess what they could have possibly been after.

Contents are as follows: Two each bags; one bag of dust remains of two intruders, disintegrated by the wards, a few scales and a piece of what seems to be a tentacle; one bag of belongings containing an unknown address within the trade city of Ss’zuraass’nee written in Deep Drow script as well as a symbol of a black serpent.

Attached compiled infomation on Ss’zuraass’nee
Hidden: show
DM Dialectic wrote:...Ss’zuraass’nee is a large underground city of serpents also commonly known as The City of Abominations. It is said to lie in the depths of the northern Serpent Hills, about one-half mile below the lizardfolk kingdom of Kalran. Ss’zuraass’nee is situated along a dry subterranean riverbed that once rained runoff from the southern Greypeaks into the depths. The serpentfolk have carved the city’s walls to resemble the digestive tract of a massive snake. This disturbing image is reinforced by the faint acidic tang that clings to the air, making breathing uncomfortable for creatures unused to this environment.

Ss’zuraass’nee serves as the surface serpentfolk’s primary trading link with the Underdark. The yuan-ti who rule the city still honor a centuries-old alliance with the illithids of Llacerellyn, a city which lies in the Middle Underdark north of the Serpent Hills.

As a result of the good relations between these races, numerous yuan-tillithids (half-illithid/half-yuan-ti), with their distinctive, viper-headed, scaly tentacles, are said to roam the City of Abominations. Drow merchants from Eryndlyn (beneath the northern High Moor) and your resident city of Sshamath (beneath the Far Hills) are frequent visitors to Ss’zuraass’nee, as are derro traders from Tsenviilyq, which lies in the lower Underdark beneath the border between the High Moor and the Serpent Hills.
Based on information about the trade city, it is safe to assume that the scales are from a yaun-ti (or possibly a yaun-tillithid) and the tentacle piece is that of an illithid, maybe even a yaun-tillithid assuming they also have them, can't say Usstan have ever seen one. Given the trade relations between Ss’zuraass’nee and Sshamath, it is possible that these thieves and those responsible for the random attacks arrived by trade caravan. As such Usstan reported and requested to the Conclave that the Charnag Maelthra do an investigation of all traveling traders that frequent Ss’zuraass’nee for any signs of recent contact or other suspicious activities. Fortunately, the results found by the Charnag Maelthra indicate that our local merchants are all clean, but they did report that one new yaun-ti merchant that recently arrived had left before even setting up shop a few tendays ago by the name of Ssssyuuok, description pending.

At this point, Ssssyuuok seems rather suspect and could possibly have more information about the attempted thefts, attacks or even both. As such, Usstan plan on making a trip to Ss’zuraass’nee "primarily for trade purposes..." and while Usstan am there if Ssssyuuok can be found then we can try to find out more with what is going on.
