The good thing was that this part of the Trail provided at least some variety. The bad was the constant howling he could hear from afar, in all directions it seemed. But for what he intended to do there, hearing none at all would be a very bad thing, indeed.

In the following days, travellers passing though Woods of Sharp Teeth can notice a very gruesome scenery, as nature claims the bodies of many dead orcs lying on the ground throughout the forest. Orc bodies are riddled with arrows, cut with melee weapons or blasted by various kinds of spells... traces of falling meteors can even be spotted on the hill. A careful eye and knowledgable person might spot that orcs hailed from several diffrent clans, although the peculiar and most fearsome kind... the black orcs... are among the dead.

When one would head down thowards southern parts of Woods of Sharp Teeth, many orc bodies thoughout the area would also be there, but all seem to be slain by arrows with traces of magic left on them. It would look like several or more skilled archers took the orcs down. Black orc corpses can also be spotted there, if fewer in number.

In the northern border of the woods, many tracks would remain suggesting orc presence, but nothing else.

An uncertain peace returns to the Woods of Sharp Teeth... for now

Enemy at the walls - The orc horde closing on Soubar

A small group of orcs was spotted on the northern trade way and as far as the north gate of Soubar.

After the first two waves, Eleanor and Ashan, having been the ones that spotted the attackers and drove their initial attack away from the hamlet, had to fall back to the walls. They rendezvoused with the reinforcements there.

With the Captain back and the local Militia mobilized they went to face the threat.

They met the orcs down the northern tradeway with fire arrows and steel.

Unfortunately, the force deployed by the horde was stronger than anyone might have thought and the defenders took heavy losses.
Captain Nightgale, Lieutenant Cormier, and recruit Ashan were KIA, but their bodies were recovered by Lieutenant Eleanor and recruit Xela and comrades were brought back to life.

After a short and tense meeting in the inn after the battle, Eleanor could be seen tending to the wounded and dead before leaving Soubar and heading north.

Soubar

It has recently been said by travelers passing through Soubar that the Ebon Blades Mercenary Company and others have helped bring a time of stability and seeming safety to Soubar over the past year despite past threats of orc, crazy Urdlen worshiping gnomes, and undead. After months of stability as a known center of tolerance for the rejected, unwanted, and dangerous of civilization, and those that do not generally fit in elsewhere, a migration of brigands, evil mages, dopplegangers, wererats and other werefolk, mercenaries down on their luck, mind flayers, scurrilous bounty hunters, nefarious dealers, those bearing curses, and others not tolerated in most communities is seen to enter Soubar.

Taken collectively, many of the new arrivals are said to speak enthusiastically of a Soubar that does not preach oppression of faith, profession, polity, pirate captain, race, or morality as compared to other settlements in the Western Heartlands "whether ruled by tyranny of Pirates, Duke, Zhentarim, Lords' Alliance, Amn, Conclave, Innkeeper, Elf, Gnome, Dwarf, Fisherperson, Orc, or other so called 'rulers'." As free, but stable, a place that beings can gather in to be who they are, as long as they don't cause too much trouble in the process.

As the new creatures settle, it is said that that Soubar seems to become a sort of hiring fair of such beings not elsewhere wanted. Mysterious Mag of the Winding Way tavern in Soubar, said to be both more than what she seems and a former flame of Grand Duke Belt, keeps the peace among the lawless, with her secretive methods as to how allegedly terrifying some of the new inhabitants. How more orderly organizations based nearby Soubar such as the Ebon Blades Mercenary Company handle the influx now taking place in Soubar remains to be seen.

*commotion stirs in the northern tradeway. Whispers of Orcish gatherings from various clans begin to fill the streets of Soubar. Their numbers yet small, grow steadily every week. Orcs are often seen having side conversations followed by war cries and cheers. Their morale appears to grow with each new moon and a particular wild Orc watches from afar, eyes burning with rage*
