NEXT UPDATE : New storage solution

Unread post by dedude »

The new storage will be open to the public. It does not include guild storage yet, only personal storage. Note that the system is in a BETA state for the time being, so don't start storing your epic items until you/we feel confident that no serious bugs managed to sneak past our internal tests.

It should look very familiar to those that have used the old kemo storage. The kemo storage is still available for item retrieval only.

I created a wiki page for the system.

It is per character, just as the old kemo storage. Meaning you can use disguise to mule between your own characters.

What happens to the items which are still inside the old storage system? I guess they will be passed to the new one, but at which merchant can they be recieved?

The same NPC's give access to both systems during the transition period. Items are not transferred automatically.

Something wrong with the new storage system? I've checked NPCs the past two days now and only have the option of retrieving items from the old system.

Rather inconvenient to disable storage on the kemo system before the new one is live, then.

If I remember correctly, the existing storage system was partially disabled because there were bugs with it.

The storage system has not allowed people to add things to it for some time. This new one will overlap which means one can pull things out of the old one and place them into the new one (and retrieve items from the new one as well).

This way the old one can safely be phased out.

The old storage caused severe lag for everyone on the server. It simply had to be disabled.

Tried the BG Storage system with non-QC PC. Every item I tried to deposit returned an error:

"Failed to store item, please try again."

Doesn't appear the new storage is usable yet.

More detail...

I was originally in SCCE when I attempted to use storage and got the message. Valefort tried storage in Farmlands East and had no issues. I went to Farmlands East and got the same error message "Failed to store item, please try again".

I then disguised my PC as another of my PC's names and I was able to deposit and retrieve in that PC's storage. I was also able to disguise my PC as a short name and was able to deposit as well.

PC Name: Finneaus Du'Veil (cannot use new storage system)
PC Disguise 1: Tarent Nefzen (was able to deposit and retrieve items)
PC Disguise 2: Finn (was able to deposit and retrieve items)

EDIT: Further testing reveals the new storage system does not like apostrophe in your name. So if your PC has one you will only be able to use the system if disguised without apostrophe. Initial testing shows the system works fine if I disguise Finneaus Du'Veil as Finn, even though I don't have an actual PC with that name. ( can deposit and retrieve at least...not sure if item will persist through reset when not tied to a real PC name.

Heh, yeah I can see that would be a problem. I will look into it. Should be no issue with using a disguised name even if that name doesn't belong to any of your characters.
