NEXT UPDATE : Dynamic Encounters v2

In the next update an expansion to this system is being opened for public BETA testing. You can read about the new system on the wiki. Be aware that activating an event is a random semi-rare occurrence. I'm on purpose being a little vague on the descriptions of event types, as it works better if they are simply discovered as you play.

This system is meant to bring more life to the world. Dynamic events can span from simple events that see NPC's taking a stroll down the road, to mini quests, to faction warfare. We have many ideas we would like to add to this system, so expect to see this being expanded over time.

For this BETA test, only two three areas have been enabled to use this system:
  • Candlekeep
  • Lion's Way Gnoll caves (all three levels)
  • Troll Claws troll cave
As always, feedback is very welcome.

can i get a dungeon in an area my orcs can go please. so i too can test this system.

sorry for the inconvenience.

like the ant colony, troll cave or bugbear area bat cave thing.

edit: maybe if it is so rare the wolves of No. tradeway would be a good testing ground.

This sounds cool. I'd love there to be a reason for sustained tavern RP. Maybe in 3.0?

Then again I can only imagine the mad rush to interact with any quest-y type NPC.

Today at the Gnoll caves I saw an unusual emote "you hear fighting up ahead." I went to the boss chamber and had about two rounds with that gnoll before multiple hill giants with gold names stormed in. It was total chaos and I had to teleport to safety 11/10

Would it be possible to have "dynamic loot" you know. Chests/corpses that spawn randomly and stick around for a little bit before dissapearing? rather than having loot in the same places everytime. Take away the 6 hour CD (make it a little shorter so people dont sit on the same chests) and make them spawn randomly anywhere on the map? perhaps along with a group of bandits and the like.
