Favored Soul EDM build.

Unread post by elsteveo »

Hi Guys looking for advice help on how to build the above.

A couple of prerequisites.

No Paladin ( I have played one the RP is a bit dull )

Human, non Evil alignment.

I like weapons with a 3x critical modifier if possible.

Any ideas?

Heres the awful build I have tried: http://nwn2db.com/build/?268561

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hey man, pretty easy... find a deity with the weapon you want to use and decide if you want to dip Cleric for domains (free feats) our blackguard (improved saves). Cleric can be water domain for evasion, but remember FvS gets free weapon specialization in their deities favored weapon. Cleric also can get divine shield with only 3 levels while blackguard requires 4. You want extend spell, power attack and divine might, but otherwise you jyst build what you want. Pretty tough to mess up a favored soul.

Stats: STR 21 / DEX 13 / CON 10-14 / INT 10-14 / WIS dump / CHA 21

If you need more specific details I cam probably through a build together in the morning.

Lol, so let's make it simple. Review the deities and their domains here:

Pick out a few you like and we'll go from there as a starting point.

So I think Grumbar with Earth and Luck would work so I get toughness and luck of heroes.

Make sure to take practised caster FS ;)
Able learner is wasted here with only 3 skillpoints and all spend in non crossclass skills. (wis 8 int14 ?)
Cl4 gives you +1 to fort/will with no loss.
Would prefer steadfast & blindfight earlier. Extend, DShield a bit later.

I'd suggest a different feat instead of extra turning perhaps take greater heavy armor opt earlier and pick up the epic version.

Changes:

Dropped DEX and WIS to 8, use +4 DEX Bracers and WIS does nothing for you since Steadfast applies CON to Will saves and your DC's are crap anyway, your a gish. Increased CON and INT to 14 with the extra points to give you +1 to Will and Fort saves, +1 HP / level and +2 SP/level. I put the extra skill points in Tumble (+1 AC) and UMD (Wands and scrolls) and you still have a decent amount left you can allocate to RP skills, or you can drop able learner to take Greater HAO back since I had to move HAO out to make room for Practiced caster.

Moved around cleric levels, you can only take divine might or divine shield on cleric levels so that's important. Also added in Practiced Caster - FS.

Moved Blindfight to Pre-epic, dropped HAO to epic and dropped GHAO all together in favor of getting STR to 22. Bulls STR is +4, Divine Power is +6 so either way an odd STR is a bad idea. Using a +3 CHA item is ideal, making odd CHA a good stopping point.

Dropped extra turning, you'll have plenty of uses and there is an item that can give that to you if you really want/need it.

You may want to consider a spell other than Vampiric Feast since you don't want to be evil. While it won't mechanically turn you evil if a DM see's you use it they will likely give you evil points or make Grumbar mad at you or something. Your RP, your call, but Vamp Feast, while powerful does carry evil RP baggage.

Feel free to take some, all, or none of this advice. :D

EDM is overrated.

If you're not dead set on EDM, I'd definitely suggest looking into just going for strength based with power attack. Maybe even get 5 levels of frenzied berserker (end up at 29 CL, but that's usually acceptable).

Damage might be sliiiiiiiightly lower per hit (except if you do go FB, it'll probably be around the same!), but more sustainable and your AB will be enormous.

For a strength based FS, you can dip into other interesting things as well. Anointed Knight or Warrior of Darkness for 4 levels. Same with Dragon Warrior. Four levels of fighter for some extra feats, plus you get all the nice proficiencies for free. Bard or rogue for enormous skill set.

And it would fit well with the Grumbar path, being strength based... and I do love me some FvS25/FB5! :D It is a beast!

Make cha (and str if possible) even numbered because you can cast Eagle's (Bull's/Divine Power) on yourself with cl high enough. Water domain for EW is a good help. You can consider Istishia (also warhammer with water domain)

Even the mithral full plate is rare and high priced, you can purchase a mithral half plate on the forum though. They offer better AC than normal full plate. But they are considered as medium armor. You will loose the benifit from Heavy Armor Optimization series. You can rise Dex to 12 and take 3 lvs of Anointed Knight as 24FS/3AK/3Clr. You will spend 1 feat for Iron Will and lose a epic bonus feat. You receive free Blindfight, tower shield proficency, +1 weapon damage, and access to 30 tumble skill which will also give you 2 extra AC regardless of armor type. 28CL is also acceptable.

As I didn't find any on the nwn2db.com I made one myself: http://nwn2db.com/build/?268603

Bane as I might create one - easy enough to modify as you see fit. And somebody might even fine tune it. I'm sure I'm overlooking some stuff :).
