Sorcerer Master of Counterspelling

Trying this theory again....

So this isn't the optimal choice for Counterspelling because of the mechanics behind it re: counter spells in Spellbook, but utilizing the Line of Counterspell feats, I'm going for the most important "blocking" I can foresee (like a half-blind seer...or something like that).

Anyway! The build has a spellbook listed in the Notes. Any suggestions or insights or blank spots in the Build?

Hello Steve,

Picked up the counter-spelling tree on Arianna.

There were many errors with the whole mechanic.

On a sorcerer, my spell slots never disappeared with a counterspell.
Epic gates were counterspelled without a check.
I failed the DC check, counterspell still went through.
Epic Counterspell can be taken even without 30 points invested in Spellcraft.
Even without Epic Counterspell, no matter how many spells were cast, I was able to counterspell.
With Archmage Master of Counterspell, even AOE spells cast in my range are rebounded at the user.

Felt like it was unbalanced. It discouraged me from playing the character, but I didn't want to go through another RCR. Haven't used any of the counterspell feats since.

Counterspelling is not using up spell slots.

It appears I can counterspell indefinitely, no spells can hit my character. Not even Arcane Fire.
Or a Ninth level Bigby's spell, despite having 0 spell slots in that level.

The wiki states that Master of Counterspelling should not work on AoEs, but the in-game feat makes no such mention. It does work on AoE spells, as long as they hit my character.

Which is...kinda broken..to say the least.
(This is using Improved, Reactive, Epic Counterspell as a sorcerer.)


Also, epic counterspell was available to pick despite my spellcraft skill ranks being lower than 30.

Pimple, Asmodea, and Metaquad4 were there when I tested it last.

I tested it today on 6/21. Still not losing spell-slots. What I mentioned up above would need further testing in-game.

I am not sure if it belong here but or else telle me to delete it? Can you block arcane fire, you still need to push one of those spell slots you push on to make the blast of arcane fire?

Only if the ESL is actually counted. And unless I'm wrong, there are only 1-2 ESL 9 invocations.

But I don't even think Counterspelling Feat is granted to Warlocks at creation.

Not to forget to mention it would be beyond OP, since Warlocks don't technically lose castings of their Invocations, thus infinite Counters!

They get counterspelling. I tried it in Jegs and casters haven't bothered casting spells at me yet ... but i did roll a drow, so not sure if thats the AI metagaming counterspelling or SR.
