The fledgling group who have named themselves the Northern Watch have taken up squatting inside the exterior ruins of Bridgefort overlooking the Trade Way road that passes along the Boareskyr Bridge. Taking the duty up upon themselves, they have positioned themselves thusly to monitor the sudden appearance of a major threat of powerful devils at Dragonspear Keep.

Though Bridgefort is itself approximately three days travel away from the now invaded Keep, its composition as a defensive high-ground against any impending invasion has been considered suddenly valuable by many groups of the coast.

Of those said to directly be manning the camp, they include a silver haired woman who looks as if she would be more at home in a palace or political gathering, than any wilderness setting. A loveable but protective shepherd hound who keeps guard over the camp itself. An archer of mixed heritage who favors dark red and brown leathers, and is often prowling about the camp's perimeter on sharp watch. A Silverstar of Selune, whom has set up a makeshift altar to the goddess of the moon and stars within the camp. A well known veteran and warrior with salt and pepper hair of considerable skill - despite the handicap of missing an eye. And a local tracker, often seen in the company of the aforementioned hound.

The crew are often supplied, checked on, and are seen meeting with various representatives from various groups including the Radiant Heart, the Halls of Inner Light, and scholars of Candlekeep as information, reports, and aid is exchanged.

All has not passed peacefully for the squatters however, with reports getting out about drow attacks on the camp, movements of Coven Assassins nearby, as well as a lingering presence of local banditry in the largely untamed and unlawful stretch of Trade Way that passes near Soubar.

But with these troubles come some signs of hope. Except for two sightings of an infernal messenger, who has been twice run off after promises of power in exchange for vague offerings, there have been little to no devils approaching the direction of Bridgefort. It is unknown if the devils have no interest in this region or if their focus is simply trained elsewhere. (Paragraph Source: DM Soulcatcher)

Additionally, bandit activity in the area has reduced with the arrival of these watchmen, significantly so. A byproduct of the armed and armored men and women moving into the region. (Paragraph Source: DM Soulcatcher)

Curiously, there is still a significant amount of traffic that passes through this portion of the Trade Way. Merchants and travellers moving between the north and south (Source: DM Soulcatcher), and its too much for the Northern Watch to keep an eye on everyone coming and going. But the Watch takes it upon itself to monitor those they can, when they can, an attempt at making sure humanoid agents of the devils aren't allowed to roam unchecked in whatever devious plot has them currently invading this portion of the mortal realm.

Off in the distance in the small Hamlet of Soubar just outside the fortress of the Ebon Blade there are many men organizing supplies for making camp as well as munitions of various sorts. While his men are hard at work rounding up their supplies, Greil travels around the small hamlet from merchant to merchant gathering up lumber rope and nails.

Once this task is complete he makes his way towards Bart the local wagon master to make use of his services in transporting these goods as well as the supplies gathered around the fortress to the Boareskyr bridge. They do not leave this night however they load up the wagon and prepare for their journey in the early morning.

The Tradeway, Northern, 24th of Hammer

A threesome of elves crossed Boareskyr bridge, Elyssa, Micar'vilchi and Essaerae. It was part of the road northward they would take in effort to better see the effects the recent devil invasion of Dragonspear have on the surroundings, especially with the word of devils making deals.

Though this journey was briefly diverted, as it came known at the small encampment of the north watch, a pair of holy servants carelessly ventured into the Misty Forest, unaware of the magnitude of dangers it held. The three elves joined in fellowship with a party formed to rescue them, crossing the desolate High Moors clashing with its beasts, and battling orc-kin among brush and tall trees of the Misty Forest. With the unfortunate pair found, the party could return to their watch, and with a brief respite at the camp, the elves traveled further north along the tradeway.

Image
The way north would be deliberately observed for unusual conduct and rumours among travelers. The chattermouths of the road asked what was seen when it came to infernal dastardly deeds or sweet whispers of corrupted wish fulfillment. Hawkishly the surroundings of the road and the road itself would be watched and listened to. The journey would take them past Dragonspear and nearing Daggerford, to observe it all first hand.

A dozen friends of nature met at the Shrine of Mielikki. The spoke about the devils at the Dragons Spear Castle before they moved out to plant trees and berry bushes all around the shrine and the Lions Way. A druid murmured, "For each devil one tree."
Image
The planting lasted until late at night. The rangers druids and their friends were very pleased with the result.

The Dharashan Elves, some of whom witnessed the first stage of the invasion and were among the first to clash with the Devils, carefully monitor the situation while preparing for eventual conflict escalations.

At Mendel's orders, the Misty Forest is kept under careful watch: its outermost borders by means of magical wards and eyes-and-ears among the local wildlife, while the inner regions are constantly patrolled by rangers following a strict "observe without engaging" policy, which would fall back to the nearest designated strategically advantageous defensive position while sending word to the village.

Meanwhile, contact has been established with the Northern Watch when two Dharashan mages visited their camp in Bridgefort. Given the fact a dark-robed wizard well-known for his uncompromising attitude left without killing anyone, destroying anything or both, is in itself a good basis for future mutual interactions.

During his time at the BG Palace District on unrelated business, Tobar Suresteel goes to the Ducal Palace and asks administrative types about whether Baldur's Gate has food and supply reserves. He claims to represent himself and another investor who happens to be quite wealthy. He states their intention is to donate large quantities of supplies to the city in the event of a major trade disruption or siege due to the events at Dragonspear Castle. Tobar also states Baldur's Gate may find itself with a refugee crisis as a result of these events. He asks the administrators for help finding the right person to speak to about this.

In the early dawn those traveling along the Boareskyr Bridge as well as those camped at the Bridgefort across the way can hear the thunderous marching of twin files of men moving with iron discipline down the hill from Soubar. They number fifteen men seven to each side of a man on horse back behind these men is a wagon which upon inspection is loaded with camping and building supplies.

The Group of men carry two standards, one of House Nightgale the other the standard of the Ebon Blade Mercenaries, The standard bearers found in the center of the files of men.

Upon reaching the bend of the hill just short of the Boareskyr bridge the Baron calls his men to a halt. With that they begin to unload the wagon of its cargo. With haste and do diligence A makeshift camp begins to form One large tent in the center another large tent towards the back as well as a hand full of other scattered tents around the central one. With the tents up the men begin to go to work with Wood, Stone, Rope and the like to form makeshift barricades around the perimeter of the camp. The central tent flies the two banners and is the groups obvious command center, The large tent towards the back however seems to be a gathering tent for meals.

The work carries over into a large part of the day though once finished it can be noted that half the men as well as the wagon begin to load up and head back towards Soubar leaving only ten men and The Baron there to tend to the camp.

The first night there are no fires lit and the camp appears quiet though any drawing near the dark setting can see there are never less then two sentries present at a time and the camp is on alert and ready for whatever it is that may come.

After setting a couple of alarm spells in the near vicinity, the ranger sets camp on a hill overlooking the Dragonspear Castle. He spends some time observing from a safe distance the spread of the devils before sitting by the camp. He procures the necessary reagents and casts a Commune with Nature spell.

Looking towards the Dragonspear Castle, he reaches to his Satchel for a specific leaf-holder. Instead of a lcoation, the name "Durin" is inscribed on the holder, something that makes the ranger smile upon reading it. Shortly after, he walks towards a tree, while chanting in sylvan
"ll'yunasi'en eneenayanyu"
Magical leaves seem to surround the ranger, as he uses the natures power to instantly travel to Kraak Helzak
* At about the same time as the Hooded figure is seen exiting the portal, it is told that a huge female dragon was seen flying over head of Misty Forest. The hidden Rangers that the Elders ordered to secure Misty Forest, if asked or even seen for that matter, would know this particular Dragon very well. Once she fully circled the southern & southwestern half of the forest, she was seen flying South at a very fast pace then disappearing into a hidden forest grove.
Once inside the Druid Grove safely, she shifts back to her tiny Elven form. The Archdruidess seems to be waiting for something or someone.

Just behind the hooded figure and the bear from Boareskyr, way up in the sky, it seems as though a hawk follows silently then disappears into the tree tops high above where the hooded figure set up camp... it watches and waits. *

Rumors circulate once more from runner's leaving Kheldrivver that the army of the Troll Kingdoms of the Troll Hills has moved south-east of Dragonspear castle . In their current position they plague the Trade Way running between the Trollbark Forest and the High Moor. They are also easily posed to raid Soubar, Kraak Helzak, or the fertile farmlands in the Fields of the Dead along the Winding Water.

Odd wraiths and even more odd glowing slime covered trolls have began to appear in Boareskyr Bridge, the edges of the Troll Claws, and in the Fields of the Dead. A few whisper stir that they are forward scouts.

A sign of ill omen appeared in the sky as several smaller comets appear and cross in front of Selune. The local lycanthropes of Soubar seem to take this as a warning. Those faithful to Selune see it as an omen of coming calamity. Those faithful to Malar see it as a sign for a great hunt following an incoming calamity. In either way, the majority of Lycans soon depart from Soubar.
Malign Ashmeddai sits, tobacco pipe in hand, outside the northern gate of Soubar. The tiefling looks over to the Boareskyr Bridge, where remains of slimes dry in the sun.
"Mmmm, mayhap 'tis time to research some means of magics which allow of attack of multiple creatures at once?"

Leaning back against the town wall behind him, the magi muses. "Is it possible to organize a town of thieves and exiles into an organized force? I should speak to the 'Baron', head of the Ebon Blades..."

Watches intensify three fold around Soubar. The Ebon Blade fortress seemingly booming with life as all men garrisoned there work on various tasks from gathering up supplies to firece and demanding training drills. It can be said whatever comes from yhis omen that the Ebon Blade Mercenaries will be standing ready to deal with it.

After reading a missive coming from the High Command of the Northern Watch, a well-known, dark-robed elven wizard quickly pens no less than three missives. Once done, he hands them over to three of his companions: one of them heads towards the Misty Forest, another hastens south, probably towards the Gate or the Order of the Silver Rose Keep, and the last one's destination seems to be close by, Bridgefort, likely in response to the message he just received.

He then would head towards the Ebon Blade fortress, supposedly to have a word with the good Baron...

A chance meeting on the Bridge leads to an impromptu meeting of minds between the dark clad elven wizard of En Dharasha Everae and the Commander of the Northern Watch. Few details are exchanged in the open locale, but an accord seemed clearly struck, and the pair parted cordially before setting off once more on their determined paths.

Malign enters the Ebon Blade fortress. A short time later, he leaves. Rumor has it, the magi suggested an idea, for the defense of Soubar, to Baron Nightgale.
