Subject: DM Rumors of the Northern Sword Coast
DM Boo wrote: Wed Aug 11, 2021 5:04 am Recently, activity has begun to stir once more in the High Moors and surrounding areas. After a few months of apparent silence following the destruction of Orcus' portals by the forces of the Coast, the yuan-ti are on the move once more, accompanied by undead. Though nothing compared to when the demon armies were at their full power and roamed the land, the presence of the serpentine humanoids makes traveling through the shattered lands of the High Moors quite unsafe. What their plans are is as of yet unknown, but any who have gotten close enough will hear them hiss: "For the Broodmother!"

A lone Radiant Heart cleric was on her way to the Misty forest when she caught sight of the rising threat leeching into her path; rather than risk a fight, she cast a quick ethereal spell and retreated, speaking a quick report to her superiors through a sending amulet:

"The Last Brood-Mothers are Awake; let's get ready."

Rhaeg wound the terrible-smelling, poultice-laden bandage around his chest, taking several tries to line up both sides where the blade had run him through. He'd gotten sloppy, or those weapons were sharp enough to pierce mithil. Best to assume the former. So much time convalescing had, in his eyes, made him go "soft."

A rustling, something in the grass. He paused, standing and taking hold of the handle of his club. The head dragged in the loamy mud, vambraced left hand fully clenched.

There it was. Slithering on his belly - no. Dragging himself by his arms. Rhaeg crushed its head like a ripe grape the moment he grasped the back of the doomed wretch's neck.

He began to drag it by the tail, back to the pile. This little corner of the Moor was lit by a pile of the snake-men, the scent of burned flesh and scales drowning out the mud and rot.

The old orcblood returned to his seat upon a stone, resuming his bandage-wrapping.

Seemed the rumors were true.

Several carts laden heavy with supplies and thick canvas tents were pulled by heavy draft horses. Upon arrival, a redhaired man in a wool overcoat was seen tearing down the northern watch banners as soon as they arrived. Soon after several of the Blackrose men began setting up camp one went to set the fire and begin cooking the men meals for the day. Not long after the camp was set up and the men had eaten a force of Ebon Blade Mercenaries arrived to help fortify the encampment.

The Blackrose Presence at the Bridgefort would have made every effort to help reinforce to the best of their ability, in preparation for renewed attacks on the Surroundings that may happen. Led by a Newly appointed Sergeant at Arms orders, either barked in person or relayed in strong letters to the squad leaders, the 50 Blackrose Soldiers present would be hard at work to add proper defenses to the ruined Fort and palisades past the Bridge itself, protecting the two Trebuchets that had been moved there. They would also resume patrols of the bridge and immediate surroundings, ready to immediately fortify with barricades and send word for further reinforcements from the Ebon Blades and Zhentarim that may still be in the area in case of any sizable invasion force.

Knowing the past extent of the Attacks, however, the Patrols would not go too close to the Moors, merely scouting the immediate vicinities of the Bridge itself to give advance warning of attacks and fend off smaller incursions. Leaving any actual counterattacks to Adventurers for now.

As the Rumor trickles to the Gate, this time without a starving city and mobs roving the streets, the Heartwarder begins to train herself for battle once again, in both Guardian Hall and out amongst the dangers of the coast. In tow, Michi, one of Sune's favored Deva's and a Celestial Bear follow along, it would seem the Heartwarder has been busy training and planning for this moment.

The yaun-ti of the High Moors are more aggressively patrolling the area. Local hunters have reported seeing groups of them heading as far south as almost Boarskyre and the edges of the Forest of Wyrms, as far east as the Marsh of Chelimber, as far north as Highstar Lake, and as far west as the borders of the Misty Forest. They move with purpose - claiming and securing territory as they go. Hordes of undead are seen in their company. On dark nights, foul chanting can be heard floating across the wild expanse. Something is happening, but what?

//I'll be around all weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) between the hours of 10PM and 1PM GMT running Moors-related plots. There will be one plot every 2-4 hours. If you want to participate, feel free to drop in anytime! This will cumulate in the final event of this arc, which will occur from 12PM on Sunday.

TheZhentarim wrote: Tue Jun 22, 2021 10:17 am Once more word begins to spread of Zhentarim movement.

This time a large contingent of Zhentilar soldiers recently begin arriving to join and reinforce others stationed near the Boareskyr bridge.
Over the course of several days the grim faced but determined soldiers appear in the area by smaller squads, evidently choosing to not march all at once nor by main trails.

With them they bring what appears to be building materials for use in fortification, these they swiftly hand over to the forces of Blackrose and seemingly deferring to their expertise in such structural work.

Rumor talks of an agreement between various factions to bolster against the remnants of northern threats, which could explain the Zhentilar presence.

The Zhentarim forces would have been at the bridgefort for some time as per the agreement reached at the meeting that was the call to arms by Blackrose commander Amos.

150 Zhentilar soldiers as promised with supplies for fortification handed over to the Blackrose forces, deferring to their siege expertise and assisting in the labour of building defences.

The troops themselves seemed to be primarily interested in entrenching themselves in the area, bolstering it against any attack. Light patrols moving only to scout the surrounding area, the bulk of forces focusing upon defence and aiding their Blackrose allies in securing the immediate grounds around the bridge and fort.

Rumors of a battle by the east boarder of Misty Forrest between Elves and Yuan-ti spreads over the north.

At the battlefield many bodies of Yuan-ti can be found.

The Zhentarim and Blackrose forces around Bridgefort have apparently managed to secure their hold over the southern High Moors. This information comes as the local hunters report that yaun-ti sightings around the area have decreased in the last few hours. The western, eastern, and northern borders of the Moors still bustle with increased activity, however.

A few hours after the skirmish by the joint forces of the Zhentarim and Blackrose troops, another force joined up at the small Radiant Heart outpost just to the east of the Boarskyre bridge. They delved into the Moors, looking for leads, and any way to weaken the yaun-ti forces. They returned several hours later, tired but successful, leading a raged band of almost a dozen expropriated refugees with them. All returned to Baldur's Gate for further rest.

///Events will still be running till 1 PM GMT, so hop in if you can! They will conclude for the day and resume again tomorrow at 10 PM GMT.

A contingent of adventurers traveled deep into the High Moor, dispatching errant yuan-ti and hordes of undead as they went. Battered, tired, and out of spells, but satisfied that they made a contribution to depleting the number of their enemies, they returned to the safety of the Radiant Heart compound.

///Events concluded. They will resume at 10 PM GMT.

It is rumored that the Military leader of the Order of the Blackrose Amos Thistle has arrived at the fortifications at Boareskyre with a contingent Heavy Cavalry from their Bugbear Campaign in Thunder's ride and a Mercenary group called the Mithril Springs: a group of Halfling Warslingers allied and in Contract to the Order.

It seems they are set to reinforce the existing troops already stationed at the bridge as well as bring in fresh supplies.

Word spreads among the garrisons and hunters up north around the High Moors that two yuan-ti fortifications have already fallen this day, a resounding victory for those involved. The yuan-ti are losing ground fast, and the Moors are slightly safer as a result. Still, whispers say their main force remains, and no sign has yet been seen of the Broodmothers who are leading the attack...

///There will be more events today, leading up to the finale at Sunday 12 pm GMT.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, a group of Blackrose troops and Flaming Fist troops, who were apparently quite surprised to see each other, managed to completely overwhelm a group of yuan-ti raiders, who had the intention of blocking the Trade Way north. The two groups sustained no casualties whatsoever, and the Trade Way is clear once more.

Upon the destruction of the third keep in the moors, Aly returns to the Temple of Ilmater, where more Hostages were teleported to safety. Aly would arrive with extra food and water, taking time to listen and comfort to each of them, and aid them in returning home to loved ones, or writing letters to state their safety to their families as they rest and recuperate for the journey home. She'd offer gold to stay in the local Inns and checks on them, listening and providing comfort and succor as needed until they are ready to return home.
