"Normal Speed" feat not working for pure monks

Unread post by Arn »

When unencumbered, activating the "Normal Speed" feat does not let a pure monk move at a normal speed. You just see a number in the combat log: 1.759999990. But a pure monk still walks and runs at max monk speed.

The feat only does anything when a pure monk is under heavy encumbrance. But it is still pretty borked.
Under heavy encumbrance, if you
1) activate "Normal Speed," and then
2) toggle search mode on, off, and then on again,
the pure monk will walk at NPC speed. So even then, it's not "normal" speed; it's actually even slower. (Toggling search mode on just once won't do anything.)

I thought maybe it was just a bug with Mi-Le, but I created a test toon, and I think this applies to any pure monk.

BTW, "Normal Speed" works fine with multi-classed monks.

Edit: This is NOT a server split bug. This has been happening for over a year now. I'm just reporting it now because I used 100% RCR to make a test character to make sure it wasn't just Mi-Le.

Hm, i wasn't able to reproduce it with QC monk (monk 18, so should have full speed bonus). Can you please try again too?

Cross classing will let the feat work, for some reason. I have a Monk 20/DC 10 who can walk at normal speed. But on a level 30 pure monk, it doesn't work. Sorry, I should have specified that.

Can you see if you can reproduce on a level 30 pure monk?

Yeah, confirmed. Despite the level progression, it seems, monk still receive speed upgrades beyond lvl 18.
As i progressed this test toon's monk levels, normal speed kept having it modifer increased. Test run also showed that monk 30 can make a run in 18 sec while monk 18 accomplishes it in 21 sec on the same distance.
I will ask devs to look into it.

I always suspected that monk speed keeps progressing beyond 18!! But I thought maybe it was just in my head, since the wiki said monk speed tops out at 18.

Just another reason to RP a pure monk! 8-)

Thanks for testing!

One more thing i forgot to mention is that normal speed works correct until (and including) monk 29. Monk 30 breaks it as modifier goes from 1.59manynumbers to 1.75manynumbers.

A fix was applied, we'll see if it works correctly after the patch.

Seems to be working okay. With this feat clicked on, my monk is still a wee bit faster than the standard speed. But he's definitely not doing a Sonic the Hedgehog impression anymore. And I don't have to mess with his encumbrance to make it work.

Thank you!
